in hindsight it feels weird that i didnt really latch on to kung fu panda or how to train your dragon, because youd think those would be right up my alley- and its not like i dont like them, i still really like them and enjoy rewatching them, i just dont have the fascination and attachment other people seem to have. instead my brain was always like “i like the funny meme ogre”

#shrek was so foundational for me you have no idea. the second movie is probably like my favorite animated movie ever now that i think about #even if the third movies very mid i also have some nostalgic fondness for it #its a shame that it gets dismissed as just ‘’ugh its a dumb meme franchise its not as serious as dreamworks’s later stuff’’#bc like. no its got a ton of merit and worth as its own thing #and its almost sad how genuine analysis and appreciation for it has to be capped with a ‘’yes im serious. this isnt a meme.’’#like theres this dismissive rude attitude towards shrek that the other dreamworks children dont get #you draw httyd fanart and its like a tuesday but you draw shrek fanart you will get obnoxious people who blast you for drawing ‘’dumb memes’#echoed voice
