when i tell students they have loan offers just to make them aware and they’re like “heh… nice try…i’m not taking those out, sorry to break it to you” like ok i actually don’t care at all it has 0 bearing on me or my job i literally just have to make sure you know it’s an option. why would i care

#it’s this deeply engrained belief that schools are trying to like trick 18 year olds into taking out loans #the school wants money right like they want your bill paid. if you can’t pay it yeah the higher ups are gonna suggest a loan bc they want $#but me and my fellow financial aid employees literally don’t care. our job is not to make the school money. our job is to help you decide #how you want to pay your bill #and if you don’t want to pay it we can help you figure out transferring or withdrawing #like we’re not trying to trick you we’re not evil we were students ourselves and some of us have loan debt too #like my god #ppl have been SO MEAN lately
