i was just gonna reblog from the last ask, but i wasn’t sure if u would see it? so, hello again! i have been thinking about ur response for days, listening to the album on repeat (it’ll probs be my aoty, too, bc goddamn), trying to figure out my top 3 and holy hell, why is it SO HARD
i think i’ve finally got it, but god, it’ll probably change by next week lol. anyway, my top 3 are probs thoroughfare, ptolemaea (that scream on that last stop is so chefs kiss and very cathartic and chilling and i can’t stop listening to it) and this last one is so hard to choose bc it’s between a couple, but uhhh,,, okay, fuck it, i’m going with sun bleached flies, bc the last half of that song kills me in the best way (IF ITS MEANT TO BE THEN IT WILL BEEEE~ like i almost need that as a frickin tattoo wtf). and !!! holy shit, gibson girl and plastic crown,,, y e s, that is perfection !!
omg hi !! i’m so sorry this is so late <3
omg ptolemaea- the first time i heard that scream my reaction was so visceral i literally just burst into tears. I still don’t think i’ve ever listened to that bit without getting a little teary it’s just so raw and cathartic but also soul crushing like-
thoroughfare is so underrated imo- the story telling is otherworldly on the whole album but the narrative just. The last chorus of “hey !! do you wanna see the west with meeeeehhheeeeeeeeeaassa? CAUSE LOVES OUT THERE AND I CANT LEAVE IT BE!” just *screams*
plus the “for the first time since i was a child i could see a man who wasn’t angry” i literally gasped the first time i heard it like damn i wanna feel that lmao.
sun bleached flies just,, ik everyone’s already talked about this line but “god loves you, but not enough to save you” just hit and i didn’t even grow up religious- she’s just so talented that even though i couldn’t relate to that particular trauma i still found it healing. and when the song throws back and references house in nebraska>>> sobbing.
