thinking about how taylor's set up the production and overall feeling of "slut!" fully diving into this dreamy romance despite the backlash she knows she'll get for being with them ("but if I'm all dressed up they might as well be looking at us / and if they call me a slut you know it might be worth it for once"), crossing it with the sinking feeling that he isn't in love in the same way and it may not actually be worth the scrutiny ("lovelorn and nobody knows") that she explores in the rest of the vault. And on top of that, she shoves that insecurity out of sight in this song by being willing to make him fall in love just to justify her love and make the public backlash feel like like it wasn't a waste of time to deal with ("you're not saying you're in love with me, but you're going to")
