and like I’ve said before… interpreting sauron’s “fair”ness as being like Aragorn’s, that of the charismatic man with a noble heritage and an enigmatic past, isn’t that bad of a take on him, especially when you’re in a post-Viggo-as-Aragorn world and you have audience expectations to play with (though I’ll always feel it’s not as interesting a direction to take it in). It just doesn’t work at all in RoP because they put all their chips on the audience seeing romantic tension between Halbrand and Galadriel and I simply didn’t buy into that at all.
