La oficina de Promoción Turística de de la Bahía ha revelado que hemos tenido una inversión en Roatán por parte de los hondureños, clave en el auge turístico de Roatán. Los frutos de este crecimiento son evidentes en el transcurso del año 2022, y particularmente en el año 2023. Esto reviste una importancia primordial, puesto que el turismo nacional constituye una piedra angular en las campañas promocionales del Instituto Hondureño de Turismo, que busca motivar a la población a descubrir los encantos de su propia nación. Después de la pandemia, esta industria ha estado recuperándose gradualmente, lo que ha resultado en una cantidad duplicada de turistas locales que arriban a explorar Roatán. Además, se puede mencionar que la inversión en Roatán está en aumento, lo que contribuye aún más al florecimiento de la isla como destino turístico. "Disponemos de lo mejor en playas, magníficos establecimientos gastronómicos e incluso comerciantes ambulantes que ofrecen delicias culinarias como baleadas y pollo chuco, elaborados con exquisita sazón y los más altos niveles de higiene", agregó Urbina. La calidad y variedad de la oferta turística de Roatán es una clara muestra de su potencial para atraer inversiones y fomentar el desarrollo económico en la región. To meet any other tours or transportation pick-ups, you will exit that building, walk to the left uphill, and at the bottom on the other side you will find all other tour options. If you take a shore excursion or arrange for your own taxi transportation through the sanctioned taxi association at the port, you will exit through that building. Diagonally to the left from the central fountain is a red-roofed building – that is your exit point from the port. There is a local marketplace to the far left, while the chairlift and path to the beach and restaurants are to the far right. Once you disembark at Mahogany Bay, you will walk along the pier, through the Dufry Store, and uphill to the main shopping area. The drive from Mahogany Bay to the popular areas of West End and West Bay is about 30 minutes, so be sure to account for that in your itinerary. There are countless opportunities for adventure, with these options being some of our favorites. If you want to really see the island, you will have to book a shore excursion, or arrange your own adventure for the day. The port is quite isolated so there is nowhere to walk from there to get a better feel for the local culture. However, you will not actually see the island of Roatan at all. If you choose to stay at the port while you’re docked in Roatan, you will find plenty of entertainment. Should I Stay at Mahogany Bay While in Port in Isla Roatan? There is a zipline canopy tour at the port, as well as an ATV tour. There are all the standard shops at the port, including Diamonds International (or Tanzanite International), Harley Davidson, a pharmacy, and several smaller local gift shops and specialty stalls. There are a few bars and restaurants at the beach, but only one closer to the ships: Fat Tuesdays. There is a man-made beach within walking distance, although there is no real snorkeling out from that beach. Mahogany Bay was built by Carnival Corporation, so there is plenty to do right at the port. The Port of Roatan offers more space to anchor and tender guests to shore and is located in the capital of Coxen Hole. The only time ships from these companies will dock at the other dock, the Port of Roatan, instead is during strong windy weather when entering Mahogany Bay itself cannot be done. Mahogany Bay is owned by Carnival Corporation, so all Carnival, Princess, Holland America, Regent Seven Seas, and Oceania ships dock there. Additionally, Costa Cruises, Thomson Cruises, and P&O Cruises all dock at Mahogany Bay. The Mahogany Bay port is located in Dixon Cove, between Coxen Hole and French Harbour along Roatan’s south shore. Roatan is a popular cruise ship stop in the Western Caribbean, typically on the same itinerary as Belize and Cozumel.
