i fell in love with making my own continuous bias tape this summer (tore through...many fat quarters in a haze of blissful obsession) but i didn’t realise just how much until i started making a zine + poster for my sister doing a textile BFA and had to restrain myself from putting little shocked and awestruck faces on every page

#what gets me is that it SHOULDN'T WORK and YET IT DOES #you sew TWO SEAMS and you trace some lines and all of a sudden a twenty-inch square is 200 inches of bias tape #the longest part is ironing it all #like it is dark textile magic and i will maybe never be over it #i will certainly never buy bias tape again my goodness #also i just finished a flight suit for one of my other sisters and impulsively finished all the inside seams with garish bias tape #instead of the sensible zigzag advocated by the pattern #whatever everyone deserves some secret frogs sewn into the seams of their flight suits #textile art #i'm giving the zine to my sister with some choice squares from my stash so she can join me in my divine fever
