insomnia's proved itself to be a funny side effect to having the ability to sleep in a real bed again every night ------- a fact her mind and body don't seem to want to acknowledge for more than a few hours at a time. ( this is what she gets for forcing herself into being a light sleeper over the last few years; teaching herself to sleep with one eye and one ear open just in case. )

so the irony of her situation isn't lost on her; especially when she checks the time on the clock on her beside table and is greeted with the right angle that is 3AM.

she's already done her usual indoor course, wandering from room to room and back again; but now that there's a proper wall with all those nightmares - made - real well out of sight on the other side of it, a walk out in the cool air might serve her better than another lap around her place.

what she doesn't expect to find is company when she opts to walk down to the lake-- a still new but already familiar figure standing by the shore. "and here i thought i was the only wandering night owl in town," she makes a point to announce herself even though she's still several footsteps away --- last thing she wants to do is surprise him by popping up beside him on the shore with no warning.

"yeah. gave up trying." she sighs while she tugs on the cuffs of her shirt until they cover her hands up to her fingertips. "i hear it's wildly overrated anyway. so -- same for you?"
