ID Context (Week 6)

Basically, this week is the final presentation that we cooperate with GD students. Mainly we need to present the brand value, target audience, positioning, tone of voice and concept as well.

We had done the research about the behavior study of kids and come out 4 stages of child's drawing which is Fortuitous Realism, Failed Realism, Intellectual Realism and also Visual Realism. This is a painting style that distinguishes children of different ages. 

The concept is line and shape which is basically one of the elements from visual arts. Kids are nature explorer to arts, simple lines and shapes capture their attention reflecting back to the back story of indikidual where she uses her daughter's drawing to develop into a design. This shows that kids always start off their drawing by just simply drawing lines and scribbling.

It could be because they’re growing up or perhaps it’s due to them developing my aversion to the camera (see if you can spot me in any of the footage from the recent Interior Blog Awards … no, it wasn’t because I was crying in the corner at not winning, instead I managed to hide behind Jess whenever I saw a photographer approach), but trying to capture my two boys has become increasingly difficult lately. Even candid shots where they’re busy doing other things and I try to sneak a snap or two, they have a sixth sense and immediately turn their back to me. It’s rare for me to get a half decent photo of them any more unless bribed with sweet treats and cool wooden toys from Great Little Trading Co. However, I now have one more strategy up my sleeve … amazing clothes from organic baby and kids clothes boutique, Rosie & Cooey. Clothes that encourage my little one to roar like a dragon (do dragons roar?) and my eldest to pose like rugby commenter observing play from the sidelines … their future dream professions (as of yet, I don’t really know which one of them is going to end up the most disappointed). Children’s clothes, much like my own actually, are something that I rarely talk about on here. Not because I’m not interested in fashion, it’s mainly due to the fact that I don’t buy a lot of them. Like with interiors, I tend to fall in to the ‘buy well, buy once’ category and choose clothes that have enough wear in them and are sufficiently timeless that they can be passed down and passed on. Yes, some inevitably get wrecked (holes in knees from sport and sliding are the biggest issue in this house) but a lot have been worn by two not-particularly-careful boys and have more than enough life left in them to be given to friends or donated once they’ve been outgrown. Not only do Rosie and Cooey stock brands that I personally would buy from again and again and again because the quality of the clothes is amazing (Tootsa Macginty, Småfolk, and Indikidual, to name but three), they only work with brands that trade ethically and strive to achieve sustainable production. So, brands that use materials, organic cotton, for example, that have a lower impact on human health and the environment coupled with a commitment to ethical production. So, I’m incredibly happy to be sharing my boys’ favourite autumn outfits with you today and pointing you in the direction of Rosie and Cooey to buy them (and the chance to win a £50 voucher). Although, check out the pyjamas, too - these Space Sloth ones are the best I’ve come across in ages. I’d love some for myself.

FOR A CHARACTER AND COSTUME LOVING FIVE YEAR OLD

Pyjamas, costumes and quirky prints are all favourites of my five year old - clothes that don’t feel like clothes, really - so it was no surprise that he chose a cosy dragon-themed outfit from Fred’s World by Green Cotton. He particularly loves the playful sweatshirt, and the cool denim pants look smart but offer the freedom to run around outdoors without any restrictions. The dragon beanie is so cute, too - both the detail and the quality are amazing.

FOR A SMART BUT SPORTS MAD EIGHT YEAR OLD

At eight, my eldest is a bit more cool-conscious than his younger brother. He still likes colour and a little but of quirkiness but characters? Not so much, anymore. Kite Clothing caught his eye and he chose a really lovely blue-coloured pair of slim fit jeans and a super soft patterned sweatshirt. Both really smart but also great for playing in, too. What do you think?

ID Context (Week 5)

This week we tutorial follow by groups, and we talk about our concept that we used to develop the “INDIKIDUAL”. The concept that we used is the illustration but the GD lecturer told us that is not a concept and it is too wide. We need to focus on one kind of illustration design and do more research on it. Then the site that I get is APW Bangsar. It is a good place that can develop the brand. I would like to propose a Play Hub at the location.

The challenge that I face is should I have a food and beverages area in my Play Hub. Since the original purpose of the location that I will use to develop the brand is mainly for food and beverages. So I need to get some opinion from the lecturer and my classmates as well.

Minggu pagi adalah saat terbaik untuk ku. Ayah dan Ibu bisa kulihat dalam 1 kali membuka mata, masakan lezat Ibu yang selalu bisa membuat suasana meja makan rumah ku menjadi lebih hangat, dan juga candaan-candaan Ayah yang kurang lucu selalu menghiasi hari Minggu pagi ku. Tapi semua berubah. Aku terbangun dari tidur dengan kondisi menggunakan kaos kuning yang bertuliskan “I’m ready for adventure”. Aku bingung sekaligus penasaran, petualangan apa yang akan aku hadapi? Apakah aku akan bertarung dengan robot luar angkasa yang berniat untuk menguasai bumi? Atau aku akan bertarung dengan makhluk berwarna pink dengan kepala yang agak panjang ke belakang? Di tengah kebingungan sesaat itu, aku putuskan untuk berjalan menyusuri aspal yang setia menyangga langkah ku dan dengan keberanian seadanya aku mengucap “AKU SIAP DENGAN PETUALANGAN INI!”
