𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 : 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬
✧ Animal: The Felidae family, with a strong preference toward lions.
✧ Flowers: Reed flower.
✧ Scent: Cistus-labdanum incense, freshly polished steel, myrrh, baked clay, crushed grapes for wine fermentation.
✧ Coffee: Black, spiced with cardamom and saffron.
✧ Tea: Marjoram tea.
✧ Drink: Wine.
✧ Alcohol: Well-aged date wine and golden beer (kaš sig), the latter malted with barley and emmer.
✧ Food: Salted and spiced meats, particularly roast kid; ‘exotic’ game meats with deep, rich flavors; unleavened bread of sasqû flour; fruits with dark juice, such as grapes and pomegranates.
✧ Dessert: Girí lam pastry, which was reserved only for individuals in Sumerian society of the highest conception and authority: kings and gods. Sweetened with honey, flour-bound, prepared with dates and raisins imported from Smyrna through trade.
✧ Clothing: Whatever he declares is of high standing and is worthy of being worn by him. Fine robes with luxurious dyes and long kaunakes (a symbol of his Kingship) were the basis of his wardrobe in his time. Has a marked preference for gold and darker colors, such as black, crimson, and royal blue. He particularly loves his modern ‘rider outfit’, such so that it being marred by a speck of dust or being grazed by an unworthy hand is an insult.
✧ Candy: Mersu with date syrup and ghee.
✧ Left or Right Handed?: Equally ambidextrous with both hands. However, he always wields Ea with his right, and clutches the Chains of Heaven with his left.
✧ Sloppy or Neat Writing?: Immaculate and authoritative in the way it is bereft of any fallacy. Near-clinical in its perfection. Any errors in penmanship or tablet-make are mistakes he does not commit. In the manner of conveying his own speech, his court scribes are also expected to never falter. The King’s words are far heavier than any tablet or stone upon which they are carved.
✧ Clean or Messy Home?: The palace servants will ensure the former.
✧ Shower in Morning or Night?: Either. Does not ‘shower’ in the modern sense, but rather takes highly luxurious baths.
✧ Tasks Done Early or Last Minute?: Does it matter? He decides when things begin and when they end.
✧ Love Language?: Gilgameš does not love lightly. Like his feelings toward mankind, his love is exceedingly vast and unfathomable and consuming. As shown in his constant combat with Enkidu, the two of them conversing not with tongue but with the clash of blade and battle, too is that violence a manifestation of his affection — just as he is willing to commit what is deemed by the masses as atrocities in the name of seeing Man prosper. The Gate of Babylon as an infinite testimony to mankind’s achievements and value further elicits how humanity is endeared to him. Words were deemed as having numinous significance in ancient Sumer, and every breath of the King is worth its weight in gold — if he declares you as invaluable, then that truth is absolute for all of time. If one must allocate a love language (that is not to exclude him from showing any of the others), it would perhaps be quality time, whether bestowing the turmoil that precedes growth, providing his aid (even if under the guise of desiring entertainment), or simply him allowing someone to exist next to him in comfortable, intimate silence — if Gilgameš is not already communicating in his own ‘language’, that is. Simply because it is elusive does not mean it is not there. It is important to look not merely at what he says but what he means, to see the fine lines in his actions.
✧ Believe in Love at First Sight?: He can appraise the value of anything simply by gazing upon it. And he knows that worth well. If it is valuable enough he may even wish to attain it. But to garner his interest and desire is not equivalent to invoking so visceral and complex a feeling within him as love, something which he stringently distances himself from. In a word: no.
