Joe meets you and mentally lists all the things he immediately likes about you. Your tattoos are on the top three, he thinks they make you a tough motherfucker.

The first one because you're adorably hot, and the second one because you're genuinely a good person, and Joe respects that.

Like, that really makes him hold you in high esteem whilst simultaneously triggering profound fondness for you.

Words aren't his strong side, so he doesn't quite know how to approach you to flirt, and he goes asking for advice, probably to Guarnere.

That wasn't his best idea; he 100% ends up messing up the first time he tries to ask you out and he turns into a nervous mess.

Bet your maternal instincts kick in, even if him approaching you is low-key making yourself anxious.

You reassure him and he goes trying again, this time successfully because you calmed him down.

Soon he finds out having you around makes his constant aggressive state decrease. Bet he doesn't know what to do with that but he kinda likes it? And he loves likes you, so he won't question it much.

He's not short-tempered like Liebgott, so you won't catch him jumping on people randomly; actually, he'd most likely be the one pulling his friends out of fights. However.

HOWEVER.

Good Lord helps whoever tries to hurt you. Or upset you. Or take advantage of you.

Listen girl, he's going to break someone's legs if he sees you Not Vibing in any situation, because he Must Protect.

Forehead kisses. Lots of forehead kisses. Specially with his hand on your back or around you.

It's his own little way of saying "you're safe, I'm with you" because, again, he's not the best with words, but he still wants to let you know he's by your side.

Lots of eye contact. He likes to gaze into your eyes.

Just like you ease his belligerence, he helps with your anxiety. Despite being Angry™ he's got a very soothing vibe to him. His touch helps your anxiety tone down a bit.

Cue lots of hand holding and keeping you casually close to him on a daily basis.

Hand on your leg when it's bouncing, not to hold it still, just to reassure you.

He's going to scold you whenever you're extra self critical and tell you all the things you do right because he keeps track of all of them.

He wants you to read to him. Whatever you like. He also requests your help with reading and writing probably, but it takes him A LOT to do it because you know, he has a 'I don't need help' reputation.

You see through that and take extra care of him. Please be gentle with this man, he's internally a softie.

Having him around eventually gives you the strength to start to stand up for yourself. Baby steps though, and he's super proud of you when you slowly but surely show signs of it.

He secretly wants you to cuddle him. A lot. And he really enjoys you taking care of him, it makes him feel like he doesn't have to be tough all the time.

One day he'll randomly bring you a stray cat and go "this is your child now".

He gifted you the cat because he loves to see you taking care of anything and everything, and you know, the cat probably takes care of you too.
