Advice on drawing murder drone hair and visor displays?
Hair:
Drawing murder drone hair/worker drone hair is a little difficult, so I suggest using a reference! :)
Draw the bangs and front hair part in a downwards direction
Make little worm on a string shapes, big hair shape at the top, and mini strands at the bottom. Curling it is up to you!
Erase the middle parts (if you want for curls! :))
Twisty
Note: all of the hair spirals in one direction, since these are wigs from humans, it resembles the actual hair that humans have start from the hairline at the top and go down as it grows. Which is what I have shown here, notice that the hair spirals down in one direction, never going the opposite way (unless for spikes in the hair.)
now coloring gets a little tricky:
Ofc, you need a base off white color, preferably a very light blue, but your pick!
Make darkened lines a little bit below the top of the hair, separating the dark shaded part from where the light hits.
Blend in the direction the hair goes! (In this example: Spiraling downwards, so blend downwards.)
Erase some of the parts that follow separate hair sections, or just make half circle eraser marks.
Outline most of the hair in the darker shade of the shaded color, for this example it’ll be a dark blue/navy color.
Mix the shaded parts with the light parts, color picking from the shading on the hair also helps outlining hairs in the lighter spots! I also added white curls for fun, but it’s not necessary.
for visors:
Color the face white! Off white again, feel free to color pick from the hair.
The visor makes a very wide rounded W shape, fill that in with a dark blue or black.
Draw eyes however you please! :)
Duplicate the eye layer and set the blending mode to add (glow) or screen. And then blur the eyes where you can see a bit of a blurry outline on the eyes. But not toooooo much.
Set a clipping mask for the black visor part and use the yellow color to draw an oval near the bottom middle part of the visor. Then use the blur brush (textured or soft, your pick :D!) to blur outwards. Set the opacity to whatever you’re comfortable with! I’d say around 20-30% tops.
Go in with a smaller detailed brush and add dots on the middle right side of the visor to show light, you can also add little white ovals on the bottom part of the eyes. Ofc, not necessary!! :)
I think that’s all I have to share! :]
To add: not all of the worker drones’ hair flows down and is curly. For example, N’s hair is sideswept. His hair flows to the right. He also has multiple hairs out of place and facing the other way sometimes. V is the same too!
