I can understand someone feeling...skeptical of art auctions and the way that single pieces of art can sell for millions of dollars. Like, art as an investment by the rich, like rich people pouring their wealth into anything, can leave a sour taste in your mouth. Sure.

But it's *always* abstract art that gets shit on for this. I never see people gawk in disgust when a Monet goes on auction. When a Van Gogh sells for 50 million dollars. When Degas or Renoir art is valued in the millions.

"Oooo yall are just dumb pretentious stooges who think any bullshit paint on canvas is so deep so rich people can launder their money" unless it's an artist YOU like. Unless it's a piece of art YOU like. Unless it's something YOU personally think is valuable.

Consider for once not be the true paragon of universal taste.
