this might be a controversial hot take, but a lot of people tend to put tolkien up on this pedestal. which don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things he does right. but he should not be immune to critics. and where rop is concerned it's not an adaptation of the silmarillion. it's an adaptation of the appendices in lotr and the hobbit. which there's not a lot there, obviously the have to make things up and change some stuff in order for the tolkien estate to not sue them or whatever. and it's fine if you don't like the show, that's valid. the show is not perfect. but man the way people were hating on the show even before it came out based on a handful of images we had zero context for was wild. to me the show is wholesome, feel good tolkien junk food and tbh i don't think the show is trying to be more than that. and that is okay.
