The Beast in the Nighttime (Ikemen Prince)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Licht Klein x MC (Belle) Summary: The beast that has lain dormant for so long finally allows himself to feel something.
Word count: 1.8k
Warnings: Angst, pining, general Licht and Nokto Lore spoilers, any warnings that can come from Licht's route can also be implied here
A note from the author: A quick thank you to @readerinsertfanfiction and @justtuesdays for beta reading this even when you're not in the fandom and letting me know when things didn't make sense LOL. This takes place the first night Licht keeps watch over Belle in his route, based on something he said in his dramatic route ending. The thought of him sitting there pining after her night after night, the conflicting thoughts that swirled around in his head and heart was too much for me to handle, and I needed to write it out.
Tumblr media
She was innocent.
Almost too innocent, if Licht had any say in the matter. And now he did have a say, since he was designated to be Belle’s bodyguard during her stay in the palace. Leon, Chevalier, and Sariel had all came upon the agreement that he was best suited to keep watch over her and although Licht knew he could’ve refused, could’ve kept her held back at arms length, there was a nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach that wouldn’t go away until he agreed to keep her safe.
He didn’t trust his brothers with her; she was so innocent, so naive, like a lamb in a field munching on grass while a horde of carnivores circled her menacingly. A quick flash of eye contact was all it would take before one of them pounced on her, ready to ravage in the dark confines of the night.
At least Licht could contain himself.
That’s what he told himself, and yet, as she tossed and turned in her bed only a few feet away, Licht found himself wishing he could close the distance between them and bury himself into the comforting warmth of her arms. He wanted to feel the compassion she had coursing through her veins and although it was selfish, he wanted to confide in her about what had happened with Mama when he was a child. Maybe then - finally - she would understand why he hated her, why he did things to keep her far away from him. She would understand why he was a man who wasn’t meant to be adored, but a man sentenced to a life of solitude and atonement. But more importantly, Licht secretly hoped she would hold him to her, bathe him in her sunlight, and offer to help carry the burden that he’s kept alone all these years.
And that thought made him sick to his stomach.
Licht Klein was a man of his word, and he promised he’d never let anyone get close enough to him to be hurt again. So nothing else would happen like all those years ago, on that fateful night when his family was torn apart by his own bloodstained hands. So why was it that every time he pushed her away, the pained look on her face only made him feel worse? Why was it that every time she sent a bright smile in his direction that his heart and stomach twisted, making Licht want to return to his dark room and cry himself to sleep, like he’d spent countless nights before when he was younger. He hadn’t cried in years.
No matter what he did in regards to Belle was safe; being near her was painful, and so was being away from her.
Licht hadn’t been so reliant on someone’s company since he and Nokto were little, carefree and happy before Mama- No, no don’t think about it. Don’t cry. You don’t deserve to cry after what you did. And so he blinked away the tears that had sought solace in his eyes, and instead opted to let his gaze fall upon her. The rise and fall of her chest was almost comforting as he matched his breathing to hers, until his mind started wandering once again, to a conversation he had partaken in with Rio and Belle just a few hours before.
Once it had been decided that Licht was to guard Belle every night, he had told himself that he’d stay outside, only acknowledging her with a nod and quick eye contact, and then continue on with his duties the next day with nothing else left to say. But she was so insistent that he couldn’t stay outside, using the excuse that she wouldn’t sleep well knowing Licht was standing in the cold hallway all night. Personally, Licht didn’t mind. It wasn’t the worst thing he’s ever done to himself - in fact, he does far, far worse in the dark confines of his bedroom whenever that aching pull in his stomach starts to throb - but, he disliked the thought of her being uncomfortable, and so he had agreed to join her in her room every night.
Rio had made a comment about how unsavory it was that she was inviting a man into her room every night, and Licht couldn’t forget the way her cheeks flushed and she avoided eye contact, saying it was fine because it was only Licht. She trusted him to not do anything unmentionable, and if she trusted him - if it wasn’t him who was watching over her - then who else would she invite into her room without any thought? He was doing it for her protection, and that was the only reason. Licht was just doing his duty; he was protecting someone he cared about, just as he had done when he shoved Nokto behind them and faced Mama with his blade. It didn’t make him feel any better though, not when these emotions were making him feel as fragile as his caged away heart.
She turned over, restless. Although she would never admit it, Licht knew she didn’t sleep well, her subconscious fretting over the fact he was sitting only a few feet away. That stubborn woman who fought so hard to get him to agree to come into her room, if only so he was comfortable while being on guard, would rather put his comfort over her own, and that realization brought a dull ache to Licht’s chest. This is why he wouldn’t - no, couldn’t - let her get any closer. It only hurt her as much, if not more, than it hurt himself. All he ever did was bring pain to the people he cared about the most.
Just like earlier, he quietly, swiftly, crossed the room. Perching himself on the side of her bed further away from the window - so the moonlight wouldn’t shine on his face and break him out of the trance he was currently in. Just like earlier, he slowly, clumsily, hesitantly moved the hair away from her sweaty forehead, caressing her smooth skin wrinkled with worry and he hastily pushed away the thought creeping in to lean down and kiss away the frown lines where her eyebrows had pinched together. Licht’s voice was soft as he started humming, the song Mama had used to sing to comfort him when he was crying over the pain Nokto took. Nokto took the pain for him, and in turn, Licht cried the tears that Nokto refused to. He used to be quick to laugh, and even quicker to cry, but after Mama died, he realized he didn’t deserve those emotions, and quickly shoved everything he had once felt under lock and key, buried deep inside his chest where the black hole continued to grow each passing day.
Her restless movements stilled as his hand traced from her forehead down to her cheek, and he wished he had taken off his gloves. Licht longed to feel her smooth skin on his worn hands, the hands that didn’t deserve to touch her the way he currently was. The hands that he vowed to never give to anyone else again, lest he brings pain once more. Yet here he was, quickly removing his gloves, his gentle fingers once again ghosting over her cheek. Human contact, after so long. He welcomed it as his heart burned with pain, each of his movements drawing more fire in his chest. He continued humming as he traced the slope of her upturned nose, the same nose that he’d seen her frown at in a mirror as they walked past it in a hallway together. He traced under her eyes, right beneath where her eyelashes lay casting a shadow from the moonglow. He traced her plush lips, a little chapped and raw from being worried in between her teeth over and over again. That simple touch, caused Licht to lose his ability to breathe. This felt too sacred, almost holy, and it wasn’t allowed of a lowly sinner such as himself.
Licht was no better than Nokto. Here he was, a lonely beast basking in the solace of sleeping prey under the guise of comfort. And yet, Licht couldn’t tear himself away from her, his fingers sliding gently through her long hair, only pausing once like a deer in lamp light, as she nuzzled into his touch, sighing so sweetly in her sleep. And what a sound that was, so blissful, more like music to Licht’s ears than what he’s ever heard before. Now, a stab in his heart, from a sharp blade, at that thought. It was quick, and painless, but what hurt was the pain that he felt after he took his hand away from her, the metaphorical sword extracting as quickly as it pierced, leaving his blood to douse the burning embers engulfing his chest, starting to travel down into his stomach, flinching as the fleeting thought of how Mama must have felt when–.
“Licht?” Her eyes fluttered open, and he stayed still, unashamedly sitting at the side of her bed.
“I thought I heard something, but then I realized you were having a bad dream. I was just checking to make sure you’re okay.” He slid on his gloves, and he was grateful that the moon wasn’t bright enough to highlight the evenly lined scars that traveled up and down his arms. It didn’t stop her from looking on curiously. “If that’s all, go back to sleep.” He added softly, curtly. He removed himself from her bed, standing straight as one of his own soldiers were trained to do.
“You look…” She trailed off, cocking her head to the side as she studied him. “Are you okay?”
No. “Yes. I was just thinking about how much I hate you. I’m tired and I can’t sleep because I have to guard you.” The flames stilled as she recoiled. The brazen burning started to diminish as she pulled her blankets back up to her chin. Closing herself off to him. “Well, I adore you. Thank you for staying here and protecting me.”
She was still trying. Another burning match was thrown into the flame. “Don’t say stuff like that. It just makes me hate you more.”
“That’s okay. Hate me as much as you want.” She replied, her eyes never leaving him as he made his way back to the small couch tucked against the wall. “It won’t change how I feel.” Why won't you understand that I am doing this for your sake? “Well stop it, and go to sleep.” Licht said, and then as his eyes met her own, his lips quivered into a soft smile, the muscles being stretched after so long of being forced to stay downturned. “Goodnight.” “Goodnight, Licht. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She replied, rolling over and pulling the blanket over her head. She wouldn’t see him once morning came, his nights were now what he had stored away for her. If this wasn’t a punishment sent directly from God, Licht didn’t know what else it could be.
Once again, even though he wasn’t alone, Licht was lonely, just like he thought he wanted, just the way Mama intended.

Night and Light (Ikemen Prince)
Tumblr media
Pairing: (mentions of) Licht Klein x MC (Emma) Summary: Nokto only wishes the best for his big brother on their birthday Word count: 1.3k A note from the author: Dusted the cobwebs off of an old fic I started over a year ago, just for a chance to share my love for the Klein boys on their special day. They really do just deserve the best.
Tumblr media
Night and Light.
Nokto and Licht.
Two twins who lost their way at a young age. The push and pull between them impenetrable, no matter how hard the other tries.
And believe Nokto, he tried.
There used to be no use getting through to Licht. Nokto’d make a dumb joke at a meeting between the two factions and look to his other half, hoping to see a hint of a smile on his face. He was always met with an even gaze and downturned lips. If he tried to bribe Licht to have a brotherly chat with him with a plate full of sweets, Licht would accuse Nokto of having an agenda and walk away after grabbing a custard pie. Nokto did have an agenda, of course. But, he really just wanted to get through to his brother. When Nokto was around Licht for too long, he just wanted to grab his older brother by his shoulders and scream that He was hurting too. They should bask in the pain together, and help carry each other's pain. Nokto also knew that doing so was no good; forcing Licht to listen to anything he’s ever had to say only resulted in the black cloud of doom over Licht’s head to darken even more, the thunderstorm brewing more intimidating than any enemy Nokto has ever seen Licht off to face on the battlefield.
But with Emma, Licht was different. She embraced his darkness, she didn’t try to get him to snap out of it, instead offering to show him everyone who would miss him, if he chose to leave them. Show him the things he was missing, such as love and kindness and sunlight - all things Nokto knew his big brother deserved more than anything. It wasn’t as if Nokto hadn’t tried to offer Licht those things; Emma was just… special. She went about things in her own way.
Nokto adored his sister in law. She was everything both of the Klein boys needed and more. She showed them both patience while they both worked to rebuild their bond, clutching tightly at Licht’s clammy gloved hands and offering Nokto encouraging smiles when Licht wasn’t responding. Thanks to Emma, the relationship had slowly started to regrow between the twins.  It wasn’t without problems though, since Licht knew Nokto loved Emma in his own way, there was tension there when Nokto would mention her unprovoked if they were alone. Licht would get pouty, and it was adorable, and Nokto would laugh carefree like he and Licht used to do when they were children and tease Licht about the fact that he was too easy to rile up. Licht would usually march off at that point, to find Emma and bury his pouty face into her chest, which only made Nokto’s heart swell with even more love for the both of them.
If the light in Licht's eyes went out on that day when they were kids, Emma flipped on the switch, once again bringing brightness to his blood-red eyes.
Nokto was currently being led down the hallway by Emma, Licht at his side. She was pulling them along, blindfolds secured tightly around their eyes as she told them how she planned something special for the both of them.
“It’s your birthday so you can’t tell me no.” She pouted, tying the blindfold around Nokto’s eyes. It was the late afternoon, Licht was also in the room, and Nokto could hear him shift his weight from one foot to the other.
“I think it’s the other way around, Ems.” Nokto noted, his signature lazy smile falling onto his lips. “It’s my birthday so you can’t tell me no.” And just to get a rise out of Licht, he added: “We’re already off to a pretty good start though. Never knew you were into blindfolding. Pretty kinky if you ask–” Licht smacked the back of Nokto’s head, earning a soft tut from Emma as she pulled herself on her tiptoes to press a kiss to her sweetheart's cheek. “No one asked you, Nokto.”
“Behave boys,” Emma giggled, pulling Nokto up off the side of his bed with one hand, enveloping Licht’s with the other as she pulled them out of the room and down into the formal dining hall.
Light filtered back into Nokto’s blinded vision as Emma’s gentle hands untied the makeshift blindfold. Sitting at the table along Yves, Jin, Luke, and Leon were all of the sweets and pastries either of the twins could imagine. Nokto glanced at Licht, and he looked torn between fleeing, and wanting to sit himself down and indulge in the confectionaries his beloved obviously put her heart and soul into making that night after Licht went to bed.
“So this is where you went last night,” Licht murmured into Emma’s  ear, his arm wrapping around her waist as he led her over to sit at the table. Nokto’s brother was the perfect example of a gentleman, pulling out Emma’s chair and tucking her napkin onto her lap as she blushed. Nokto thought it was adorable that no matter how long they were together, they still made each other blush like it was their first date.
It made Nokto wish to have something like that someday.
“Well, happy birthday Licht and Nokto.” Leon mused after Nokto had taken his place at the table as well. “It’s been a while since we had a birthday party here for one of us, but Emma insisted.”
“Yeah, aren’t you two a little old for this?” Yves, haughty as ever remarked, and Emma snickered at his expression.
“You’re never too old to have a lady dote on you, in fact, the older you get, the better it usually becomes.” Nokto noted, nudging Emma with his elbow as Licht shot daggers at his brother and moved to pull her chair further away from Nokto.
“Does that mean you have evening plans tonight, Nokto? Because if you don’t, I was thinking we hit up that one tavern in town. You know, that one where I met that lady?” Jin put his hands in front of him, miming squishing, which made Leon and Nokto laugh. Luke was sitting quietly, pouring a little bit of tea into a cup full of honey.
“Sure, I’ll take you up on that. All my drinks are going on your tab though. Maybe you can find me a nice lady to bring back tonight.” Nokto bit into a dariole - Licht’s favorite - and the flavor exploded on his tongue. “These are really good.” “Thanks Nokto. I made them special for today since I know they’re Licht’s favorite.” Emma remarked, placing her hand over Licht’s bare one that was laying on the table. Idle chat from there ensued, everyone careful not to breach the topic of conversation of previous birthday, instead focusing on the present.
Finally, Licht wiped his face with his napkin, a satisfied look adorning his lips as he stood up. “Thank you all for coming to join me and Nokto for some tea today. It was nice. And... thank you for the birthday wishes.” A small smile crept up on his lips and Nokto had to stop himself from clutching at his heart and exclaiming how cute his little big brother looked at that moment. “And Nokto?” Nokto’s eyes met his mirror, and he felt a similar smile crawl onto his lips. “Happy birthday.”
“Happy birthday, Licht.” He raised his hand in a lazy wave and with their final goodbyes, Licht and Emma were gone. And as Nokto looked out the window of the dining hall, he realized that Licht really took the light with him when he left; the sun had set, and Nokto only hoped that the moon would glow bright enough tonight that there’d be enough light outside for Licht and Emma to make it wherever they planned on going. That thought was enough for him to shove back his chair, and meet Jin’s expectant gaze with his own as he nodded his head and followed their eldest brother out the door.

Everything I’ve Always Wanted  (Ikemen Prince)
Pairing: Licht Klein x Belle (MC)
Day 1 of @voltage-vixen ‘tis the season for smut! Prompt: “all I want for christmas is you”
Summary: Licht never really ever thought about what he’d want for Christmas, until Belle asked him to  Warnings: nsfw content below the cut; minors dni, uhhh this is unedited
Tumblr media
“So I’ve got the foreign book for Chevalier, the new jeweled egg beaters for Yves… last on the list is,” Belle’s pink tongues slid over her lips, wetting them as her gaze fell onto Licht. “You. Licht, I can’t figure out what to get you for Christmas.”
He stood tall, a shiver running down his spine. Christmas was just another day to Licht; he didn’t get presents nor did he gift any. Why should he, if he didn’t want anyone getting close to him? His eyes fell to Belle’s before dropping to her hands where she was tightly clutching a list.
“I’m the easiest to shop for,” Licht responded, gently taking the list from Belle’s hands and glancing down. Next to his name had a bunch of question marks, ideas crossed off. “I don’t want anything.” She came next to him, looking at the list over his shoulder. “Nothing?”
“No one gets me stuff, and I get nobody else anything. I prefer it this way.”
She let out a frustrated puff of air, blowing her bangs out of her eyes in the process. “Well, just think about it. I’d really like to get you something.” As they left the town in a carriage, Licht promised her he’d think about it.
Tumblr media
He was pacing his bedroom, Belle’s pleading for him to think about what he’d like for Christmas running across his mind every time he turned on his heel.
Licht didn’t want anything materialistic, he didn’t want her to just give him a gift because it was ‘good enough’. He wanted more time with her, he wanted her and everything that came with giving himself to another person.
With a racing heart, before he could lose the courage to tell Belle, Licht marched down the hall. The jewelry box with a necklace he found her admiring earlier in the day was pressing incessantly against his leg with every step he took closer to her door.
He knocked twice, formally, the way he always did when he showed up at her door - which at first rarely happened, but now him visiting her took place more often than time he spent with Yves - and his brain finally caught up to his heart in the time it took for her to open the door.
This was stupid, I shouldn’t have come. I deserve to be alone. Licht’s brain started spinning. I’m selfish to be here right now, wanting to tell her what I came to tell her.
“Licht?” Belle’s hair was neatly brushed after a bath and she was dressed in her nightgown. Her milky skin was almost luminescent in the dark and Licht swallowed down the feelings that were stirring in his stomach at the newly uncovered skin. “You usually don’t visit me this late.”
“I… have something for you.” He said awkwardly, reaching into his pocket to pull out the box. He handed it to her, looking down at his feet as she opened the box. “Merry Christmas.”
“Oh, Licht. This is beautiful! Thank you so much but…” her voice fell off. Licht’s curiosity made the best of him and he glanced up, watching as she bit her plump lip as she played with the gemstone on the necklace.
“But what?” He asked, silently reaching for the box and gently pulling the necklace out. Their bodies conversed in their own way as she turned around, sweeping her wet hair off her neck so Licht could clasp the necklace.
Licht heard her breath hitch as his fingertips brushed against the bare skin on the back of her neck. “You told me you didn’t get gifts for anyone.” “I did,” Licht said, stepping away from her warm body. “But it’d be unfair of me to come here asking you for a present, with nothing in return for you.”
Her eyes lit up, a delightful smile brightening all her features. If Licht could choose one moment to freeze in a frame forever, it’d be this. Her beautiful grin, him smiling back bashfully. “You thought of something I could give you?”
Licht stood up tall, like he did on the battlefield; he may not feel very confident but he looked it. Like Yves always told him, it’s easy to fake what you want people to perceive you as until you get the feeling on your own. He could fake confidence while his insides were shaking, he could do this.
“I thought about a lot of things. You could easily get me a book I’d never read or a piece of clothing I’d wear once or twice to make you happy. But, you asked me to think of something I wanted.” Deep breath. Inhale, exhale. “Belle, all I want for Christmas is you.”
Her lips parted in surprise, her eyebrows raised. “Licht - are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
He was tired of words, he was already right here; so close he could almost taste her. Move forward two inches and then… They were kissing.
Her hands were wrapped in his hair, tugging gently on the silky strands as one of his arms wrapped around her waist, the other cupped her cheek, his thumb stroking gently. It was a sweet first kiss, something Licht knew he’d always remember, especially when his tongue snaked out to trace her bottom lip and she made a hum of surprise that had Licht’s body thrumming.
“I’ve wanted this for so long,” She whispered against his lips, their heavy breath mixing together.
Licht didn’t respond, instead opting to pick her up and walk her into the room, her bedroom door closing noisily behind the pair as he dropped her onto the bed.
Belle’s cheeks and neck were flushed red and her heaving chest only accentuated the fact that she was just aroused as Licht was; her nipples were poking through the thin fabric.
Licht unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt before her hands pushed his out of the way and she deftly unbuttoned the rest, pushing his shirt off his lithe body and tracing his newly exposed skin with gentle fingertips.
Licht’s mouth fell to her neck, kissing and sucking at the pulse point that sat beneath her ear and when she moaned out his name in a heavy whisper, Licht felt his dick throb against her bare thigh.
She felt it too, because her hand reached between them and tightly grasped him through his clothes. If Licht wasn’t drowning in her already, he would have been embarrassed at his reaction; a wanton moan fell from his lips and his hips bucked into her hand.
She whispered his name again, this time against his lips as his hands crept up her inner thigh, finding solace in her wet warmth. At the same time, her hand unzipped his pants, gently tugging them and his boxers down to free his heavy cock from its confines.
They silently explored each other's bodies, her hand wrapped around his penis as his fingers rubbed slowly, then fast, then slightly slower on her clit. Licht’s lips attached to her neck once again, on an area where the chain of her new necklace would rub against later, and suckled on the sensitive spot. He flicked his tongue over the bruise and he smirked against the area as her grip on his fingers in her wet hole tightened.
“I- I’m,” she managed to pant out, before Licht kissed her harshly, his teeth playfully clamping down on her lip.
“Cum for me,” he whispered. “That's all I want.”
She came undone then, with one more flick of his thumb against her clit and her hold on his cock tightened for a moment, before she let go in the throes of her ecstasy.
Licht held her as she came, every twitch of her body and change of facial expression captivated him completely. He had long thought he knew every single expression she could hold, but this - this was new. It was something he wanted to explore once again.
Belle sat up, her hair falling over her shoulder as she reached for his dick, but Licht stopped her. “I’m not gonna leave you like this after what you just did for me.”
“I don’t expect you to, but look at the time.” She glanced at the clock on the wall and smiled.
“It’s Christmas,” she replied, her fingers starting to dance seductively over his hardened member. “Did you get everything you wanted?”
Her hand started moving up and down and Licht struggled to reply. “All I wanted was you, and here we are.”
His reply was met with a sweet kiss on his lips and her wrist flicking up and down even faster.
