The land vehicles (armored vehicles, artillery, etc.) as well as troops travel through Nakai-Nam Theun National Park in Laos. Unfortunately, there have been many casualties. Many of the land vehicles got stuck through the treacherous Laotian forests. Many turned back. Out of the 4200, only 1400 compact armored vehicles made it, carrying 100 artillery. No tanks or rocket projectors did. With these vehicles, 600,000 infantry make it. All the navy and air troops make it, and with them carry 40 thousand more infantry. 1.2 million infantry refused to take the journey and promptly left the Vietnamese military as they were disillusioned by the leadership. Armed with weapons, an insurgency for Vietnam may be imminent. 

Unfortunately, 600 thousand infantry died on the journey as a result of complications in the forests. Reports claim that a couple thousand died from getting stung by fatal bees, some died due to harsh pecking by a swarm of ducks while others died due to drowning in lakes while fleeing from what have been described by survivors as ‘large butterflies’. 

Vietnam is left virtually defenseless after this decision.
