HISTORY:

Connor was born to Larry and Cynthia Murphy on April 20, 1999. The baby was a surprise, but that didn’t stop the new parents from loving their son like they’d planned for him. When Connor was two, Zoe was born. The siblings got along like a house on fire and their parents would always joke that Connor would be the first one Zoe would call if she was in jail and vice versa. As they grew older, however, things changed.

No one really knows what happened to Connor. Larry chalked it up to him just being a teenager. Cynthia didn’t know what to think and so she just tried to ignore it. But it was undeniable. By the time they reached middle school, Connor was a different person. He was moody and destructive and it only got worse as he got older. His parents, having exhausted all their options, decided to send him to a local private school.

Hanover was the best thing that happened to Connor. He could be himself there without fear of ridicule and he met Miguel Nuñez. Miguel and Connor were inseparable. They did everything together. And then Connor took the fall for Miguel and he was shipped back to public school. Public school was a nightmare; no one cared enough to ask what he was feeling and Connor was spiraling more and more each day. It was only a matter of time before he crashed.

i couldn’t even leave a note ; verse - canon. the events of dear evan hansen. connor is a senior in high school and he is miserable, to say the least. he doesn’t like school; he doesn’t like being at home. the only thing he does like is spending time with miguel. more often than not, he’s high on something. this is the lowest point in connor’s life and he kills himself after finding a letter from evan hansen that had, in connor’s mind, some creepy things written in it about his sister.

take the bomb in your head and disarm it ; verse - post canon. connor survives his suicide attempt. some local authorities were patrolling near the park and spotted him. they were able to get him to the hospital in time to save him. he doesn’t know what to do now. he knows he can’t try again—everyone’s watching him too closely. he wants them all to leave him alone. he wants to go back to when no one cared about him. it was easier. he doesn’t like this, this constantly being watched and monitored. cynthia forced him back into therapy and he hates it. he doesn’t want nor need help. he just wants to be done. but maybe he doesn’t. maybe he just needs a nudge in the right direction.

i make my exit ; verse - post canon. ghost verse! connor wakes up at home, confused and disoriented. he can’t interact with anything and no one can see him. it doesn’t take him too long to realize that he’s a ghost. of course he is. he can’t even kill himself properly. he tries to live with his new found not-life, but sometimes it’s hard. he can’t do much unless he gets angry. so he just sort of wanders around, trying to find a way to get himself back to wherever the hell he came from. if he happens to find some kid that’s trying to end their life, he’ll try to step in and talk them out of it. but for the most part, he wanders and waits for some sort of final ending.

almost like zombies ; verse - after conner was expelled from hanover for possession, his parents sent him to a wilderness camp. he would’ve preferred rehab. he’s there for half a year and it’s awful. they’re treated like animals and given very little food. he hates it and wants nothing more than to leave. not that he’d tell anyone that, of course.
