Tbh every time I see anything that’s like “You should NEVER write this specific thing,” the spirit of C.S. Lewis tells me “you should write that thing right now immediately”
#the inane ramblings of a madman#whenever people are like#‘main characters with these traits are bad’#i am immediately like ‘i must write a main character with those traits’#because honestly#the only real rule of writing#is that all the rules should be broken#‘op characters are boring’ okay say that to one punch man#every rule someone tells you i guarantee you can find an exception to#even something as basic as ‘follow basic sentence structure’#clearly i don’t have to i’ve seen poetry#i understand having guidelines#but guidelines are boring and i don’t want to follow them#especially not in writing#if i want to write a mary sue then goddangit i’m writing a mary sue
