for starters, i use a wacom bamboo tablet and paint tool sai. i only recently got photoshop so i cant help much with that since i havent really started using it properly yet.

ive had the same tablet for about five years now and its my best friend :’’)

sai can be really hard to figure out at first, especially if you’re starting out self-taught, figuring things out on your own and learning from your mistakes (like me hehehe)

i cant claim that im fully self-taught bc a lot of how i draw is inspired by Yamio’s art tutorials on youtube (check them out--they’re very educational and i learned a lot about coloring on sai).

heres how i draw in any case:

first you doodle your original sketch. have fun!!! draw what u like!!! if you’re first starting off with a tablet, it might take some time to get comfortable drawing but you’ll get used to it ;)

linearts a bitch!!! connect all the lines bc u’ll have to pretty much use the bucket tool.... its very annoying....

but!!!! this can all be very annoying and ive recently found myself thinking of this whole thing as a very laborious, time-consuming process. im just not fit for it sometimes since im so impatient :/

anyway ive recently started doing another process that is less impressive but also less time consuming thank goodness!!

add more details and voila! it can end up looking really nice, in my opinion....

(my ocs.... drawn in that style....) simple but not as much work...

no lumi or shade but it still looks decent, right?

drawing should be fun so have fun!!!

really, all u need to know abt digital drawing is that u should play around a lot and find out what u like! i can teach u tricks and tips, but in the end, only you’ll know what u like to draw and how u like to draw

art has no rules so go crazy :))
