When people do the whole “soaps doing issue storylines is always good and you’re not allowed to say they’re badly handled because they’re raising awareness!!” stuff, or the “Holby has always handled sensitive topics right and has never ever fucked anything up and didn’t deserve to be cancelled!!” stuff, I get increasingly tempted to bring up the fact that Henrik’s CSA story literally made me want to die.

But then a lot of things make me want to die so idk if that’s saying much so that’s why I never actually say it even though I want to.

#personal tag #tw;csa #people love to spout stuff like ''if it helps even one person they've done their job''#but if the people actually affected by the issue in question are saying it's NOT helpful they're just ignored #you can have loads of people openly saying the storyline was/is triggering and hurtful #but they won't be listened to because everyone else prefers the hypothetical One Person being helped by the story #like when i say henrik's storyline was offensive i'm not even just speaking from my own perspective of how much it upset me #i've also talked to MULTIPLE other survivors who were extremely distressed by the storyline #but people who openly admit they have no experience with the subject still come out of the woodwork to defend it
