So i watched the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie on Netflix tonight with my fiance. This is the second slasher movie she's watched specifically for me and it was a lot of fun.

As far as the movie itself...

Spoilers ahead?

I have a lot of questions about the lore and such, or really, the lack of it. Like Leatherface has always been such a family driven character, so what happened?

I've decided that I can accept that with Drayton and Chop Top being dead could have left Bubba alone, but i can't really imagine him having left the house to live anywhere else, and more than that to think that he could have been moved and no one figure out anything was sus.

The whole thing with Sally was... Dumb.

Halloween and Halloween Kills worked in part because we know Laurie could have grown to be that. She fought back, she survived.

Sally Hardsty survived, but given how she came out of the first movie, I can't see her having grown up to be a hard ass that was ready to fight and kill. If she was, why wait so long?? It's not like Leatherface left the town, and she knew where the house was. So like 🤷‍♀️

Overall, i have to say i did enjoy the movie for what it was. I went in with low expectations, and it seems that helped a lot.

As soon as I'd seen the trailer i knew it wasn't going to make sense. Very similar to the 2013 3D movie, the timeline makes zero sense, the changes in location make no sense, and there's just enough gaps that it's kind of... Dumb.

The characters were not that interesting either. Like Ginny (the woman in the orphanage) was tragic and i liked her, but she was also only there for a very short amount of time...

Lila was probably the most sympathetic, I'm glad she survived, but like also... Her overcoming her trauma by learning to shoot a gun was stupid. Not fond of that lesson.

Richter was probably the most likeable of the characters aside from Lila, that we saw more than a few moments, and that's... Not great either? Sucked that he died so fast.

And Leatherface, Bubba, Jed, my boy, my precious baby.

This story was tragic for him. It was nice to see him kill in rage on his own, but I i cannot stand the idea that he's so utterly alone now.

For a character whose family has always been so vital to him, this was painful.
