#robin coste lewis#lit#mine#in context this is a deeply harrowing and impactful line i think#i'm still considering all the nuances of the full poem because there's so much to dissect. beautiful language#and a really haunting sense of intimacy. haunting because of the heaviness of the racism in discussion here#addressing this detached 'you' who is perhaps representative of every exploitative and oppressive body that has worked to sexualise and#objectify and degrade your own body. consumption as an affecting force and not an empowering one#there's no transcendence here (as i've been reading and seeing lately w cannibalism media) only this sad sense of being caged#sacrifice and love in the worst of ways. ways that are not reciprocated only taken advantage of#i'm getting out all my initial thoughts but this poem and i imagine the whole book as i proceed will take a while to fully sift through#i haven't covered nearly all of the bases
