Just A Girl January Day 26

I wore a red thong and matching bralette under my boy clothes to class today and when I got home I stripped down to my underwear, changed into more comfortable red panties and put on a skirt, nothing over it, just the bralette like a crop top.

Full disclosure, I'm very much still a guy. Kinda like a femboy, I guess? I really like the term ftm girl for me bc it's like yeah. I'm ftm and a "girl". But not in a cis way, in an explicitly transmasc way.

I don't feel like the term "non-binary" really fits, though.

I'm not gonna detransition for the kink although the idea is ridiculously hot. Hell, I'm not even really questioning my gender. Like I said, still a guy.

I just. Kinda wish I had someone I could "be a girl with" IRL. Someone who misgenders me and I can dress femme around and treats me like a girl.

I can't wait for summer and hope I'll have opportunities to dress femme around trusted friends and/or in public where no one knows me.

I was in the tumblr tf fandom for a hot second a few years ago and i just wanted to ask, is it still really aggressive here? because back then there was a lot of shipping drama, there were a few callout posts going around (can't really remember about what) and just...a lot of bad stuff. I personally had someone tell me to kill myself because I liked one of the villains. guess I'm just wondering if, in your opinion, things have chilled out? Cuz I'd like to get back into it but I'm a little hesitant;;;

I'm going to try and give the fullest answer I can in the best faith to this! For context, this blog is a couple years old now, I have enough followers that I get a lot of active engagement on my posts etc, I am very active in TF fandom here, Twitter, and IRL, and while I did not used to be active I have been lurking in TF fandom as long as I have been on Tumblr.

There is absolutely still some toxicity; all fandoms have their bad faith actors, their drama hounds, their shipping Diskhorsers TM. I have gotten hate mail, I know folks who have issue with weird anon haters who are persistent, whatever. But no, it is not as bad as it has been in the past, IMO, not at ALL, and it is 100% possible to have an active, sociable and nice time in this fandom so long as you curate your engagement, with basically no drama at all. Many of the worst folks burned out and left when the fandom got less active and their shitstirring paid lesser and lesser dividends, IME.

People sometimes ask how I maintain such a vocal presence without falling into the still-there drama, and I have some advice that I promise you will mitigate like, 99% of the possible issues you could encounter:

Block whenever you feel like blocking. If you get a bad vibe, if you just don't personally like someone and don't wanna see them, if you see them throwing what looks like a temper tantrum you don't want in on, just block 'em. Remember: blocking is nothing personal towards the person you are blocking. It is not insulting and doesn't need to be 'earned'. Block every single person you think not blocking might even just theoretically cause stress or drama. (I am blocked by several people for reasons no more serious than 'I hate your OTP', and I commend every one of them for doing it and having a better time on this site!)

Delete any and all anon hate. Block anyone and everyone who sends you hate. No exceptions. No witty comebacks. No takedowns. Nothing. You see it and the actual literal second you do, you block and delete. None of it is worth one second of your time. Deprived of the oxygen, they will leave. And you won't be tempted to re-read it and stress out.

In that same vein, if it causes issues, just turn anon off! Turn it off. Personally I keep it on because I simply do not care about the odd troll, but if you care even slightly? Fuck 'em, turn it off, anon is a privilege your followers need to earn by acting in good faith.

Find people you like and follow them, ignore blatant shitstirring in the maintags (again: block people!) and try to curate content and follows and mutuals based on what you do like and not what you don't. Curate positive engagement; do not rely on the general fandom slurry, find what you like and hang out in your own corner of things that bring you joy. If the maintag stresses you out: don't check it. Check the blogs of folks you know are cool instead. Stuff like that.

Fandom should be fun. Fandom should be finding people you like and sharing good times with them, not stressing about avoiding folks you hate, or who hate you. Tumblr lets you moderate how you engage, when, and where more than almost any current social media site; now you can even turn off reblogs and oh my GOD is that a lifesaver function btw. If you want, you can make your blog unsearchable! It means you will need to be more proactive in making friends. But TF fandom is pretty tight knit these days, and folks want to talk a lot of the time. You'll still be able to engage with cool people.

There's way less aggro losers around these days, but more to the point, you can absolutely avoid the ones that still insist on being annoying and starve them out without much effort, tbh.

Ok, fuck it, I'm gonna be a little hater for a second.

BUT BEFORE I DO!

This is my personal feeling and I'm keeping it in my space and not maintagging shit. I know the hermits are all adults who talk about things off camera and, as Grian constantly reminds people, "If it makes it into the video, it's allowed."

I can't watch D0c anymore. His entire "my friends won't let me cheat at the game so I'm going to throw a wrench in the entire economy and scam people out of their own presence in the shopping district about it" is really fucking irritating. I wouldn't want to play on a server with someone who did that. He's passed a level of petty that's funny and crossed over into something that feels vindictive.

THESE ARE MY PERSONAL FEELINGS! I would never put this in front of any of the hermits or support anyone doing so. I don't think any of the hermits are bad people, I just don't want to put up with one in particular.

Beloved SPG Anon, I feel like us Rabbit Spouses (TM) should start a union because our collective wife puts us through so much daily. And yes! I can definitely provide some links aside from the website and comics!

A fair warning beforehand: a lot of these resources, especially the older ones, do reference Mike Reed and Steve Negrete, both of whom have left the band after rather upsetting behavior. I won't go into it here, but it's pretty easy to find reasons why. Please take the necessary precautions beforehand if this is something that could trigger you.

A GREAT resource is going through the Internet Archive and plugging in http://www.steampoweredgiraffe.com and clicking around. A good addon is /cavalcadium, which will bring you to their old lore hub, as well as any /CHARACTERNAME.html (i.e. "/Upgrade.html") to bring you to a character-specific page. I don't remember what date saves are especially good, but if you click around you should see some good stuff. Definitely recommend spending a lot of time here, since you'll find the most lore here as far as I know!

Another cool resource is the Reddit SPG Lore Sundays Bunny did, which are linked here (1), (2), (3), (4).

Their YouTube channel has some nice videos and playlists explaining some lore/in-jokes, as well as some aspects of the Vice Quadrant. Their podcast has some bits of lore, but it's mostly them fucking around for an hour, so YMMV. There is an in-character improv radio show with the characters if you're interested though here! The Youtube clips of their performances are really fun but not as lore-heavy aside from a few one-off jokes. The major exception to this is the Malfunction Incident featuring a flashback to the Weekend War (there's another significant malfunction in the Walter Robotics Expo liveshow video, which is $5 for the full recording and IMO well worth it).

Their Tumblr @officialsteampoweredgiraffe has some really interesting bits of lore as well, but you will definitely have to dig for it. I personally recommend starting at the very last page and working your way forward, since the blog nowadays just autoposts new podcast eps.

@emmi-kat has done some phenomenal lore masterposts too, and I can link some here and here off the top of my head.

They also have a Patreon with content dating back like ten years or something?? I haven't gotten into it yet but I plan to and I have a feeling there's a lot of cool stuff in there. If you're interested, the lowest tier iirc is like $1.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm gonna maintag this as an open invitation for anyone with more resources to add on, because I would like to know too! My literal second post in the SPG fandom was 'hey guys where can i find lore because it's impossible' so trust me, I know the feeling.

Hi welcome to tumblr ! You don't have to censor anyone's names here just don't add them to the tags (which are the little # things at the bottom). You can make it so your writing work is easier to find tbh by using tags like #d for dream anons , #g for George anons etc. I'd advise against using maintags of ships like #knf etc unless you want people scrolling thru them to find you (which is OK btw you can post nsfw with the mature filter and put it in the main tags). Tags here are also for posting little comments you don't want to add to the main post aka when it's reblogged (our version of retweet) those comments won't be visible on the next person's blog

lowkey I thought about it and you can ignore the multishipper thing I sent. I've just been seeing so much harassment and pretty vile neg the last few weeks from blogs that I used to to enjoy following that it's just been a little tiring and sad. but curate your own experience and block and move on I guess I was just unknowingly on the worng side...sorry pls ignore I don't want to start even more of it 😔

but i want to say anon that i agree with you sometimes the shitting on people goes a bit crazy and it's overwhelming. i won't allow people to come on here and just shit on you for having that opinion don't worry. confessional is just about getting it off your chest no worries at all. in exchange i will let you in on some of my secrets:

i unfollow and refollow lots because you are right sometimes some people run with neg too hard. for example i saw some crazy karl neg so i unfollowed but the next weekend that person was posting funny shit so i refollowed

also like i have moots who are super intense with mpreg which isn't my cup of tea so sometimes i literally hop in maintags and go blog hopping to see wholesome content or what not to stay off the dash.

i think it's alright to feel these frustrations and simply acknowledge that you aren't enjoying something and sometimes you need to rant and move on (just like what you did!!!!) it's actually super healthy to just get things off your chest even if after you realize maybe you were being silly or maybe you realize you don't want to be mad about that thing anymore. but yeah don't worry i won't let it start world war three on my blog i simply block people who are insane and i'll be so honest with you i think you were level headed and reasonable so respect

Spoilers, Tags, and How to Act Right in the Askbox: an Updated Pinned Post

The Askbox

Do not ever send me spoilers unless I've indicated it's okay. You will be blocked.

The askbox is a place to ask me things. It is neither your megaphone nor a means of seeking personal validation. If you send me something in my askbox, even if it's a statement, I assume you want my opinion and I will give it to you. That opinion might be in disagreement with yours. In short: questions are both welcome and encouraged! But if you're just looking for a yes-woman, you have really misread the situation.

Spoilers

I typically watch (and live-blog) the first half of Critical Role when it airs, then go to bed and watch the second half on Friday morning (or afternoon if I can't make it work with my schedule). From when I go to bed at the break until I finish I have the entire Critical Role tag and several common spoiler tags blocked. Please do not send me spoilers or put them in my notes during this time. You will be blocked. I typically make a post when I'm going to bed and a post when I finish the episode that you can find to get an indication of where I am in the episode.

For other shows/podcasts, it honestly depends. When in doubt feel free to just ask "hey, can I ask you a question about the most recent episode of X" first, since I don't always listen/watch right away. Sending me spoilers to the askbox for other shows will get a block, but doing so in the notes won't necessarily since it's at times unclear, but still...be cool.

Tags

I tag spoilers for Critical Role until the YouTube VOD is posted. Otherwise, I tend to use the spoiler tag until the next day for podcasts/shows. The spoiler tag is always the tag I use for the work, followed by the word "spoilers".

Frequent tags are:

critical role. If I have something I want to be able to find later but seems weird to put in the main tag, I often tag it with "cr tag". Not split by campaign.

tlovm for The Legend of Vox Machina; tagged with spoilers until the Saturday morning after an episode first drops.

dimension 20; individual seasons are also referred to by season name (eg: fantasy high) and the spoiler tagging is by season (eg: starstruck odyssey spoilers)

rqg (Rusty Quill Gaming)

taz (The Adventure Zone); individual campaigns are referred to with their name (eg: taz ethersea) and spoiler tagging is by campaign (eg: taz ethersea spoilers)

naddpod (Not Another D&D Podcast). Not split by campaign.

d&d for general D&D things

d&d mechanics for particularly crunchy mechanics questions

My discourse tag is relatively recent; it's "tenser's floating discourse" and it's primarily so that people who follow me can either avoid it or get all the tea, so to speak, depending on preference. If something's tagged with that, it's probably not maintagged.

Other

As of posting, I've read three of the Wheel of Time books and watched the show. My tags are m reads wot and m watches wot. I'm far less of a stickler on spoilers for the books because they've been out for over 20 years in most cases, but in general, again, be cool.

I occasionally post other fantasy media and the tags are going to either be the main tag (eg: The Witcher) or of the form "m watches/reads X". (M is my first initial and what I usually go by in anonymous spaces on the internet).

If you have tagging questions or requests, feel free to ask! I can't guarantee anything but I will take it under consideration and provide a respectful answer, even if it's a no.

I am also willing to add anything to that list if you have a trigger you need to me tag for! I reserve the right to say no if it's something that I post about commonly enough that it's likely I will forget to tag for it (e.g. 'empires smp' or 'solidarity gaming'), but generally I make an effort to make my blog a safe place.

Also, mutuals, I would appreciate it if you can tag for alcohol.

Other Important Info

I write image descriptions for as many posts as I can! I tend to refrain from describing art or other images that I am not sure of the content of or don't think I can describe well, but I do my best to make my blog as accessible as possible. I encourage my mutuals and followers to do the same, or even just look for image descriptions in the notes before reblogging something! If you want an image described, feel free to @ me. I do not write captions for videos, though, as my audio processing is bad enough that I don't feel like I'm a reliable person to do that.

Finally, if you see me reblog a harmful post, or do or say something harmful, feel free to tell me so! In fact, please do! Chances are, I didn't know that was harmful, and I will be happy to change my behavior because I want my blog to be a safe place for everyone besides bigots.
