who are your art inspirations?

this is a tough question because i cant really name off specific people that are inspirations to me.. it’s more like specific tv shows and individual pieces? sort of like how i dont have favorite artists or albums but i have a big slurry of favorite songs. it’s a ton of things strewn together

visually, flapjack has inspired me the most. when i first got into it was really the first time i obsessively took screenshots to study them and incorporate it into my own art. id go as far as to say it was due to storyboarder sean szeles because completely fell head over heels for his art style and i still love it to bits. otherwise, i get into the habit of mimicking art styles of shows so often that you can sort of see a little bit of each of my interests in what i draw. it’s a big ole MESS

music also inspires me a TON. most of my art was made from a specific mood that songs brought about. like.. really ABSORBING the music ur listening to helps you pour more life into what youre making. half of the time i draw something BECAUSE of a song. it’s wild and a bit of fun

im gonna use this as an opportunity to talk about songs i listened to while drawing specific things under the cut… i know it AINT what you asked for so you dont gotta look through it if you dont want to

bad by michael jackson. like.. i was in the middle of drawing something else but that song slapped me so hard on the ass i just started drawing this for hours and hours. whack

this one is interesting because i was just listening to the playlist itself.. i was In The Zone and as a result this drawing is a culmination of its own songs. it was a LOT of fun

destroyer by saint motel. this was when id heard that song for the first time and i was so WOUND UP by it that i pulled an allnighter listening to it and drawing this. it’s one of my top favorite songs ever on the goddamn planet

this one is WAYY old (april 2016) but it was my first time really letting loose and experimenting with colors so i still remember it really vividly. hush by deep purple, let’s groove by b5, and little red corvette by the florida state university marching chiefs.

i can still go back to drawings from years and years and YEARS ago and remember what songs i was listening to by association. this is less of “i listen to music when i draw” and more of “certain processes of these specific drawings were inspired by the songs i listed”. ive always wanted to talk about this so i just said. u know what? im gonna
