man i just realized how much people going "(insert company) or (insert game) is so gay and progressive!!!" pisses me off
#because half the time its like. not as good as people make it out to be#and people will chalk up every criticism of the game as people being homophobic because its such a gay series#hey guys i dont think gearbox is actually all that progressive.#i think the company that openly misgenders their nonbinary character in multiple official materials (on twitter. the lore book. the comic#on the b/l3 website) and claimed a character was nonbinary only to backtrack and say theyre cis despite the literal ceo saying they were nb#and them saying a character was a lesbian only to backtrack and for their best trans rep be a recolored lilith model they made an angry#brown trans man and the fact they keep ignoring their wlw and focus almost solely on mlm couples in these games is not great#im so tired of seeing everyone in a 6 mile radius in that fandom suck gearbox's dick and act like b/lands is the epitome of gay rep#and that if you dont like the series youre homophobic#seeing people claim that gearbox is the only company that deserves its gay pride icon during pride month makes my blood boil#especially when a lot of the lgbt rep is..... bad or it got retconned#i promise you people who dont like b/orderlands arent moustache twirling evil homophobes the series just kind of sucks sometimes#theres genuine shit thats bad and stuff thats badly written and theres bad gameplay mechanics#if i ever have to see people claim that people only dislike b/orderlands because of how queer it is again i think i'll blow up#im not even gonna complain abt ANOTHER video game series that a lot of people say is soooo queer because like. i also have a lot of#opinions on that and i dont wanna get launched into orbit by someone

i don't care too much about the whole 'let fans rewrite it' thing but good lord. i think blands would improve immensely if people who actually knew what they were doing were there. none of this shit needed to happen
😭 Yeah... yeah. Honestly fans might do it worse if I'm being honest. People talk a big game about how they don't like how the series handle certain topics or its badly written but these same people turn around and make 0 complaints against the racism in the story.
They'll cry and throw up about the fact the word aspergers is used but say nothing about the rampant racism in the series. There's so many ableist slurs and language in this series that it's laughable that some people are thinking the use of the term aspergers in a game that came out in 2012 is world ending.
People will see a character whos sole character trait is that he's an angry man of color who threatens to hurt his own comrades and they'll praise him for being great trans rep. They'll see a spin off novel featuring the two lead WOC from a game and praise it and say it will be good when it's glaringly obvious it's Gearbox trying to cover their asses for "forgetting" their two lead WOC and giving their white male counterpart a lead in 3 while they got nothing. God, even like, it was fans that white washed the Calypsos first before the official Twitter retweeted it. It was fans that slapped monster mouths on Troy and Tyreen and dehumanized them.
Even the fact they praise Gearbox up and down and kiss their fucking ass every pride month and say they're the only company that DESERVES the rainbow pride icon they have is so fucking laughable. The company that openly misgenders their trans characters? Multiple times? Including in official material like comics? The company that's CEO said a character who be they/them nonbinary but then the lead writer fucked it up and they said they were cis now but for some God forsaken reason they still put them on LGBT+ character promos? The company that either hides, kills off, or ignores their WLW characters? When was the last time we saw a lesbian couple in this series that didn't disappear into the background or die?
This series is so bad and misogynistic and racist and ableist and people fucking eat it up and act like it's the best thing that ever existed. If I ever have to see someone kiss Gearbox's ass and say it's the ONLY good company and that it DESERVES it little fucking gay pride icon I think I'm going to scream
