3. there's that red headband guy and he's the main character's senpai/mentor/bff and i'm am 99% sure he dies just based off how ace attorney works
4. assistant girl wears a hakama FLOUTING TRADITION so i'm fairly sure she's awesome

Me: honestly it'd be fairly easy to localize it. just say Phoenix's ancestors immigrated from Japan. that's what they finally did with Maya in the sixth game
i mean that techincally that would not be localization in itself but it would keep in canon with the localization
and things have changed enough that they don't have to worry about people getting confused about japan.
like they've clearly given up in the fifth and sixth games, just straight up talking about yokai and tanuki and rakugo and sake
