finally caved and bought myself a supported spindle (with a captive ring, even though all the captive ring ones were about double the price. but everyone describes them as having a soothing noise and i am unfortunately a huge sucker for good spinning noises). they’re made to order so it’ll be like. well over a month before it arrives which means i will probably have completely forgotten i bought it

#a surprise for january me :)#i like spinning supported on my pushkas but those all have the same width of spindle stick the entire length of it #meaning that it's much slower than any other form of spinning bc you can only spin these very short lengths before needing to wind on #was just watching a video of supported spinning on a russian spindle and the whole 'off the tip and winding onto a temporary cop' thing #looks soooo fast. and nice. and i want to try it.#esp bc ive been doing supported spinning in bed when i am in lots of pain but needing to raise my arm #kinda just adds to the pain. so looking forward to what will hopefully be a less painful supported spinning experience #and nicer sounding :D #already very fond of the noise of the pushkas in the ceramic bowls #spinning #supported spindle
