hey, mysterious benedict society enjoyers!
i read about the series getting scrubbed from disney+ and it genuinely broke my heart. the novels were my comfort series as a kid and i wanted a tv/movie adaptation for as long as i can remember. for it to be scrubbed like this just so disney can cheat their writers and not pay their taxes is nothing short of disrespectful to the people who worked on the show. i refuse to let it hit the memory hole.

#I think posting someone else's art they did for me#To the same audience with all the same tags and thematic matter#And having their art get way more interaction than mine is the final straw to make me give up on art#I don't get any joy out of it#I don't find catharsis out of it anymore#I used to do art because it was like spewing my innermost workings on a page and saying to the world 'this is how I feel'#There was something very vulnerable with sharing that with people but#I wanted to make people understand what's in my head#A cry for help if you will#Or more like a cry for understanding#And it feels so hollow when people who get plenty of interaction say 'oh if you're upset by no interaction#Then you're doing it for the wrong reasons etc etc'#And for one it's easy to say when your stuff DOES get plenty of interaction#But for two as a teenager I was viral on deviantart. Thousands of followers and multiple daily deviations#Before I even turned 18#I literally grew up and am conditioned to thrive on external validation and I just don't get that anymore#Ever since I deleted my deviantart in 2014 because my abuser was literally using it to stalk me I haven't been able to hold an audience#I threw it all away and now I can't get it back. Not here not twit not insta not anywhere#So I'm giving up. That's it that's all. Not like anybody gives a shit anyways#It kind of feels like ripping out a piece of your soul#Putting it on display and then having no one care#I'm tired of destroying myself just to be ignored over and over again#I really did peak when I was 17 didn't I

bought a copy of ‘behaving as if the god in all things mattered’ from the secondhand bookshop today and the old man checking me out patted the cover--saying he loved this book. he asked me if i wanted a bag, or if i was going to start practicing what the book preached right now. i said i didn’t need one, and thanked him.
#captain's log#i... love. that store. i love it.#my second day in a row there. i was hoping they'd have copies of oliver sacks' 'awakenings' and 'the man who mistook his wife for a hat'#there because i wanted to send them to my younger brother--who is interested in majoring in medicine when he goes to college--and i had#looked at the sacks books they had there yesterday but i didn't remember if i'd seen them or not#they didn't have either#though they had two copies of uncle tungsten and one of gratitude#i had also gone to a bookshop (pricier--all new books) before but they only had one sacks book--everything in its place--which i got just#cause i haven't read it#but. shit!#i have a copy of awakenings i can send him and it's really the better one to send because i think its more relevant to his interests but#the man who mistook his wife for a hat was the book that made me fall in love w sacks/his writing so i was disappointed that i didnt find a#copy anywhere. and THEN i thought i'd go to the barnes and noble because it was on my way home anyhow but it turned out that it wasn't open#anymore! and the building is being turned into a thrift store. and that was my last resort. i figured they'd be very well stocked and that#it would be my best bet bc the other new bookstore is small and the secondhand bookstore--well you just never know what they have until ya#look there!#so. anyway. i can send him my copy of awakenings but i was hoping to find another one bc it might be nicer#and that way i could still have a copy for myself#but! trying to read it very quickly and get it out to him monday when the post office is open again

#during Ramadan mental health was in such good shape Alhamdulillah#ya3ni the heart was at so much peace and the disturbances and grievances of dunya didn't feel all consumingly depressing anymore#we were busy with a greater purpose; with the purpose we were created for#but Ramadan is over and with all the Eid and post Eid business haven't been able to adjust well after Ramadan in terms of ibadah and all#and subhanAllah I can feel my mental health begin to deteriorate... things affecting me that didn't affect me during Ramadan#and I've experienced this so many times before - every time my connection to Allah fluctuates#so does my mental health#both are correlated#I need to rekindle that ramadan connection with Allah ﷻ and find peace with Him ﷻ once more#because wallahi there's no other peace anywhere else#الا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

#sanzuz has gone through a couple of revisions i actually haven't posted anywhere! he's trans now and much more lankier skinny-ripped#than the bulky strong ripped i drew him as before#he lives in a swamp with his massive two headed crocodile lusus because it's one of the few enviorment on alternia#that the drones have trouble with regularly sweeping without decimating the entire swamp (too much foilage and large agressive lussii#plus barely traversible if not flying because thems waters soooooo dangerous)#so he lives in butt fuck nowhere the swamp with his dad who ate his arm on accident trying to protect him from trolls trying to cull him for#his mutation (he's a lime with gills)#but all's forgiven cause they're mutually protecting each other and he loves his dad#he utilizes his lime calming powers on highbloods who occasionally try and hunt the rare lusii that live in the swamp#(eg; a giant two headed crocodile)#and uh. eats them. he eats other trolls that wander into the swamp but ESPECIALLY shitty highbloods who are hunting#he's got an underdeveloped hunter / poacher blue blooded kismesis#so! he's got some issues and rage that would make him comparable to the class he oh so loathes but he eats a looot of sopor slime so he's#pretty chill :)#but of a gamzee-oid. oopsie.#i lost my train of thought but if you want to know more abt him feel free to dm / send an ask to my main#i looveeeee love love talking about my ocs
