in the first two drawings i did of her shes had this same expression because the idea of her suddenly finding out those turtle babies that she was forced to help mutate totally actually survived that big explosion is just. its too funny to me

the idea for Mae specifically was that Draxum wanted the turtles to have a strong connection to mystic power. She'd been in debt to Baron for one reason or another and because she was particularly in tune and otherwise had a strong connection to her family's mystic abilities, he used her during their mutation to make sure they would have similar power. during the explosion she had glass blow up in her face so she didn't see Lou escape, so she and Draxum just assumed they were dead and Mae stopped talking to him after that.

I!!! have so many feelings and ideas about how the brothers could deal with the whole 'we have a big mom that we didn't know about' not to mention April and Casey (because she shows up after the movie yk) and i wanted to wait to post this until after I had em done, but its gonna have to wait till tmrw ;-; i go bed <3
