Feeling a certain way about how squeamish or angry many people are about genre-typical character death in actual play, vs how comfortable those same people are in openly wishing there were more depictions of violent misogyny and homophobia

#because death means the character is gone and can't be pushed into ships #but fanon violence towards women CAN be used to argue for a ship with few other merits other than a lack of that same imagined violence #anyway the certain way is UGH #queue #bit off topic but man i've been thinking about shipping culture a lot lately and so much of it bums me out #it's so clinical and transactional and competitive instead of being about the STORY (comma) MAN #like I like shipping but the characters exist within a story! it's all first past the post (kissing) and zero chemistry!#i genuinely think if you see two characters from a preview/teaser and immediately ship them there is something wrong with you!#like not medically/psychologically just like. i think fandom can hone your mind OR turn it to mush and that's Real Mush Behavior #i think shipping is genuinely fun and helps you think about the story in new ways but you must be open to it and so many people are not
