&&. announcing her grace, ( noémïe vivienne maizière ), the ( 32 ) year old ( former duchess ) of ( alsace ). she is often confused with ( jasmine tookes ). some say that she is ( sanctimonious & reticent ), but she is actually ( perspicacious & pragmatic ).
there's always a trait that determines what kind of adult a child will grow to be, noémïe's was her curiosity. she always had to know the reason behind the occurrence, the sky being blue just because it is never really cut it. as she got older that turned into an insatiable need for knowledge. about everything. the two sides of every story, the making of every spectacle, the director's notes for every scene, the writing process of every song.
that part of herself shines on every other aspect of noémïe. for starters, she's not a person who accepts half-truths. it doesn't matter if it will break her, "protecting her" by lying will never be seen as a heroic gesture to noémïe nor will sugarcoating, be harsh if that's what you need to be. she thrives in harsh environments because those are rarely deceitful. just because she's delicate doesn't mean she's fragile.
on the other side of that coin, you have a woman who won't say her opinion in certain situations unless she's asked to. why ? she wouldn't be able to tone it down out of politeness. noe doesn't do anything out of politeness. something about her demeanour will let you know she does have an opinion on it, and then the ball is in your court: you'll get to decide if you want to hear it or not.
but not doing things just to be polite doesn't change the fact that she's nice. being rude just for the sake of it is needless and pointless. she'd much rather get to know people, everything about them, and then choose whether they fit into her life or not. as a friend, a lover or anything in between.
this isn't much but i'll figure more out as we go. you all know about alsace and all that, i won't waste anyone's time saying she was heartbroken and shit. mssg me for plots, although i will assume connections. love yall.

&&. announcing his grace, ALEXANDER ESTERHÁZY-KOHÁRY, the thirty-one year old DUKE OF WESTERN TRANSDANUBIA. he is often confused with aaron taylor-johnson. some say that he is foolhardy & superstitious, but he is actually perceptive & resolute.
SUMMARY
slovakia’s history really starts where the treaty of trianon came in, giving way to czechoslovakia around 1918. it was the story brothers, a cain and able sort of story three generations prior that split slovakia and the czech republic to what it has become today and from that line came two more brothers, žigmund and alexander, two of many, but two that held important titles, žigmund the crown prince of slovakia and alexander the duke of western transdanubia, taken over from his mother’s former title of duchess. it wouldn’t be until later that the brother’s would utilize more than just the title she passed down, but a lineage as well, an important one, a habsburg branch.
so, what happened is after czechoslovakia’s independence the two eldest brothers basically fought and sabotaged until the only solution was to split, and so they did into what is now slovakia and czech republic. do they get along three generations later? maybe. maybe not. no, i really don’t know yet.
most were surprised that the brothers go along so well as every generation prior that hadn’t been the case, in fact, it’d almost been a curse but where one went the other seemed to follow. it was almost as if where ones talents and attributes were lacking, the other had it. so as they grew decisions were made almost always together and worked out when it had been done together. maybe being superstitious was just part of their nature but the few times they had done something without consulting the other for advice, disastrous.
on the same note, while they made decisions together that were beneficial, they also made decisions that got them into trouble. alexander was always the ‘ act before thinking ’ one of the two, or at least, don’t think too much because it’ll be over before it happens sort of person so when alexander decided to take up the cause dear old dad had attempted to work out behind the scenes, it wasn’t long before the brothers began to get ideas of how things might have looked, might have been different with their habsburg branch on the throne in the beginning of the 20th century. how different the croÿ family might have been then. it was impulsive of course, but the idea has been planted and all it can do is grow.
and because this didn’t fit into the other parts of his about, he’s recently a retired defender for real madrid after acquiring his mother’s title for western transdanubia she passed down within the last year.
TLDR : very close to his brother, played as a defender for real madrid #5 until very recently and took over his mother’s duchy title within the year or so
CONNECTIONS
any one he can toss around a ball with , watch football , etc , etc.
fights will be had at events , it’ll happen or has or both
exes , hookups ( bad / good )etc , he’s kinda intense so 99.9 of these are gonna stick for too long
that one group of friends . the ones that just don’t get on and there’s a high chance something bad will happen if they ave to stay around each other too long
siblings. czech republic cousins? second cousins? something like that

&&. announcing her royal highness, ( yi “camilla” gahye ), the ( 31 ) year old ( princess ) of ( south korea ). she is often confused with ( lim ji yeon ). some say that she is ( tenuous & conniving ), but she is actually ( disciplined & polished ). ( ooc: ashley )
her early life can be described with one word: unnoteworthy. the second daughter was brushed under the rug in hopes the next would be a son.
because of this she finds her independence easily. growing up there always seemed to be something more important than her occurring at all times. at a young age, she knew how to handle her own matters. permission slips from school went to woong, her mother’s assistant, when she was hungry, she’d find mi-hi to send word to the kitchen. unless she was dying, bothering her parents was out of the question. in comparison to dahye, her disposition is seen as temperate.
she thrives socially, mostly because it is the only place people care about her, and really care. her quietness dissipates almost as soon as she steps foot outside the imperial palace, the urge to blend into the shadows doesn’t follow her. she makes a good group of friends and follows their path to university.
her friends from university were always so brilliant. by surrounding herself with great minded company, she hoped even just a little of their passion would rub on to her. though not royalty, she saw her friends become powerful business women, ground breaking scientists, talented artists ... she envied people with a dream, a talent, a calling. but despite her best efforts, nothing ever came. it was then her parents began throwing names of suitors at her, none ever particularly satiating. she struggled through her fine arts degree. she let jealousy eat away at her slowly, until the perfect proposition fell onto her lap. the emperor of china.
once the idea of empress started to become real, it became evidently clear this was her calling. she felt she had to do very little to be impressive. and not to mention, her mother has never smiled at her so largely! it had started to feel like she had been waiting all her life for this, unbeknownst to her, the deep rooted feeling of inferiority began to dwindle, and it had never occurred to her this was something she wanted in the first place.
that’s not to say jianguo didn’t have a part in her fate. his kindness and cleverness made it impossible to say no to. it was her third visit to the palace that made her future all too clear in her mind. she loved the life, she loved the people, she loved him.
then came the whirlwind. the white dresses, the florists, the never ending list of guests. her life became consumed by duty. and finally, the coronation. she’d never forget how tightly her father hugged her that day. and for a few years, things flowed smoothly, her life worked perfectly. wenli’s birth was the natural order of events. she had impressive feats to display next to her name, shiny achievements to show her friends and family.
the most difficult part was learning how to navigate the chinese imperial family. she had experience a coldness in her family, but not to the jin’s extent. after extended kindnesses, she was quick to learn they operated better in their own bubbles. jianguo’s side of the story was the only story she knows, or knew.
for years, gahye has tried her best. she has trusted her husband and his disposition, willing to stand beside his decisions. writing off lixue’s disdain was easier than inserting herself. she allowed the infighting because of the sureness she felt in her position. everything felt like taunts, until the escalations made her world come crashing down.
a year of captivity in the palace does not exactly breed understanding. no, a year in captivity breeds resentment. a year without contact with her husband, only to find out about his death through palace staff ? no, this does not bode for forgiveness. it bodes for revenge.
tl;dr
processing lots of grief atm
here for wenli’s sake

&&. is that ( danny pino )?? no, it’s just ( eduardo bolívar y tovar ). he is a ( prince ) of ( venezuela ). he is ( 40 ) years old and his birthday is the ( twenty fourth ) of ( november ) which makes him a ( sagittarius ).  he is ( adventurous and empathetic ) and ( protective and casual ) but, unfortunately, also ( frivolous and acquiescent ). those traits just make him a ( gryffindor ) and in scientific terms an ( esfj ). he is ( heterosexual ) and the program’s ( conversationalist ).  his theme song is ( volare ) by ( domenico modugno and franco migliacci ). his interests include ( dancing and baseball ). he practices ( catholicism ) and is a supporter of ( francisco bolívar y tovar ). his quirk is ( claiming small inconveniences are god’s way of keeping him humble ) and favourite quote is ( when i choose to see the good side of things, i’m not being naive. It is strategic and necessary ) by ( waymond wang ) because ( he is a fundamentally optimistic person ). last but not least he ( does ) believe in true love.
biography.
Eduardo has been chatty since he was born. He learned to speak quickly and never quite stopped much to his parent’s consternation. Did he have important things to say? Not really. But in a family where he was the third sibling and second brother, it seemed important for there to be someone who could relate to the younger siblings and their smaller woes. Not everything had to be as serious as Francisco might claim. Since he does not know he is his parent’s only true born son, he never felt quite the same call to responsibility and seriousness the older siblings did. Ana was always his favorite, he was unfortunately easily weakened by big puppy eyes and enjoyed feeling like he really mattered to someone.
He was somewhat average in his studies, but he was pretty good at judging professional competence and finding good advisors with the right expertise. Thus, his parents appointed him Grand Duke of the Guyana region which contains the valuable oil reserves found in the Orcino Belt in the state of Delta Amacuro as well as its valuable port cities. Though the position was powerful, he has been subservient in his role as a supporter of his brother, never even considering the possibility of taking on more power.
The fact that his first true love and fiancee was a school teacher only kept him firmly entrenched in the family dynamics. He met her during a public tour, at an event organized for his investment in baseball facilities for local schools, and fell head over heels immediately. The fairytale was easy to sell to the public because it was real, and Maria had been charmingly good-natured. Unfortunately, their love was not meant to last, and only a few months after their engagement she broke it off, unable to handle the pressure that came with royal life.
Something in Eduardo changed after losing his love, and the tragedy after losing more of his family. He redirected his energy into supporting his family even better, remaining stalwart in his affection and loyalty to Ana during her own struggles. He couldn’t simply let another person he loved go without a fight. Six years later, to support his family, he agreed to a political match with [princess/duchess of TBD latin american country] -- he is good at being family, but not as focused on being a husband. Still, in the past couple years, he has come to love her in his own way. He does not realize that his wife doesn’t mind because she has greater ambitions for them: the Venezuelan throne.
Eduardo joins the program now because he is concerned for Ana and to share the exciting (and nerve-wracking) news that he is going to be a father!
extra.
TLDR; Eduardo loves his family and doesn't realize he could pose a threat to Francisco's throne at all....

PINTEREST | CONNECTION | PLAYLIST | INTRO
tl;dr: princess of cuba, daughter of a mexican princess, arthur's aunt. her mom was desperate for her parents' approval but never got it and she pushed all that need to surpass expectations onto roxana. eventually, roxana realized she could never please her mother and just stopped trying or caring or sometimes talking. but she works closely with her brother still.
when arthur came on the scene she was like "screw this guy" and is starting to believe her brother when he quietly suggests that arthur murdered his way to the throne.
her grandfather gave her the duchy of chiapas because she was a nightmare at family dinners but now she's a nightmare with a mexican title.
headcanons:

hasn't really been outside the americas so she's new to all the other royals
does she really not care or has she just been punished for feeling in the past?

&&. announcing her royal highness, YASMIN ALIA HASSAN, the twenty-eight year old CROWN PRINCESS OF MOROCCO. he is often confused with imaan hammam. some say that she is controlling & underhanded, but she is actually driven & perceptive.
SUMMARY
everything is fair in a game where rules are discarded for country. yasmin has pulled at the tapestry strings ever since she knew she could — a young age. it was always very lady macbeth of her to watch from behind the scenes as her father ruled from the golden throne and she held the nobility in the palm of her hand. a gift, it might be said, she learned from not her mother ( who’d passed away at an untimely age for a twelve year old girl ) but her grandmother. the woman was cunning, manipulative and in every sense of the word, utterly astonishing. yasmin wanted nothing more to became that which no one would expect.
as a child she was soft spoken, shy and her younger brother often took center stage. most would have been wise to assume he’d become the next in line, he was favored to be after all, named after their father even, but it was yasmin who had proved herself above him in education, diplomacy and the public’s favor. it wasn’t just who was better, it was who wanted it. mohammed vii despised a future as a king ( at least the duties that would accompany it ) though he didn’t know that, not until his seventeenth birthday when a nearly public incident destroyed their perfectly curated reputation at mohammed vii’s hands.
from then, he was kept in the shadows, rumors of an illness spread, but in truth it was the sabotage that nearly happened time and time again each time her brother was given any amount of trust. yasmin had warned her father of this and gladly up her role as the crown royal to be once her father saw fit. it was the first time yasmin truly saw how the strings could be pulled behind the scene, that effortless tug which from then on she perfected. her image to the public was king and generous and while there was truth to that, she wasn’t only such things and in the war of politics, she couldn’t afford to be.
her life was to be about how much she could control, which is why when yasmin had met reginald zulu, things became . . . complicated. there were emotions and feelings that over time had become out of her control and that scared her. her country? she could handle. her family? politicians? it all felt like second nature, but the crown prince of zimbabwe? a risk she didn’t want to take. yasmin broke up with him before she had lost control of those feelings, the ones she couldn’t reign in so effortlessly with the excuse that he couldn’t benefit the future of morocco and she’d grown tired of him.
him being one of the very reasons she’d waited to join the program, which now had been on behalf of her country and the networking benefits that far outweighed any cons she could fathom, which seemed to become a more pressing matter as time passed. the sudden need a possible secret morocco has kept hidden? maybe.
CONT.
recent developments, aka the event have left yasmin wishing she would have just trusted her instinct and not joined the program after all.

&&. announcing his royal highness, ( casimir marek sobieski ), the ( 26 ) year old ( prince ) of ( poland ). he is often confused with ( evan mock ). some say that he is ( obstinate and unhelpful ), but he is actually ( inquisitive and unconventional ).
hellooooo :’) stumbles in with my luggage strewn everywhere..running around like a headless chicken <3 im tasha im so so super excited to be here and if u’d like to plot my ims r open or we can def do discord if u’d prefer - i look forward 2 writing w everyone !!
basics.
name: casimir marek sobieski nickname: cas or casi ethnicity: polish and filipino  age: twenty-six birthday: april 11th, 1996 sun and moon: aries sun aquarius moon gender and pronouns: cis male, he/him sexual orientation: bisexual  title: prince of poland education: swiss boarding/int’l school (11-18), university of sorbonne (18-25) languages: english, tagalog, cibuano, thai (poorly but he’ll say he’s fluent), french.
bio.
cas remembers when he was small very well — a rambunctious tot, he was always running into the arms of someone who adored him: whether they were paid to to not. staff would crack a smile before straightening his collar and sending him on his way. the general public fawned over him, back when his cheeks were still full and softened by baby fat, and all he had to was look cute. he was perfectly delighted to do so. wedged between his sisters, he basked in the shade they unwittingly give him and got used to not being scrutinized.
so he thinks it’s pretty sad, that he never got his fair share of childhood. that his hair always got cut too close to the scalp even though he wanted to wear it long, and that he used to be able to come in from the garden with muddy knees without getting a telling off, in fact his mother was even sometimes endeared. he doesn’t know exactly when it turned to exasperation, only that it did — and he got away with much less, almost nothing. though a sharp, eidetic memory doesn’t let him be whipped into shape and written over with the rites of royalty, all the niceties and modesty. because he remembers five years old and six, seven and eight too well. he remembers nine years old and ten, all the years he was allowed to be a kid. so at eleven it feels downright oppressive for it to be taken from him.
it doesn’t take long for him to shipped off to boarding school. one day at home he’s running down the glossed, wooden floors in his socks when he falls and breaks his wrist. the end of his bedrest is rewarded by his parents telling him he’ll be attending a prestigious all-boys school in switzerland. it was a blessing in disguise, with the range of extracurriculars the school provided and a forgiving grading system, he was well-occupied within the insular borders of the campus and more importantly, never felt the need to act out at any family/political gatherings he had to attend. the public ogled at the glimpses they got of him, on the right track to grow into someone like his older sister, anticipating it.
without the last strictures of boarding school, university is where he thrives. it’s also where he falls out of favour with the public and his parents alike, a favour he never really knew he had to begin with (he can’t fathom how anyone could form an opinion on him through posing for pictures). stubborn to a fault, cas will only ever believe that he’s living, and it’s not his fault if other people find it offensive. he enrols in university as a part-time student, and over the course of seven years and three summer abroads he graduates. he always shows up when he’s called back home, he’s never missed an appearance, even if he has to board a jet still drunk. some months after he graduates his father calls him back. casi half expects to be greeted with a congratulatory party on his long overdue graduation. instead, his father has a wish, a request, a dying one at that, that sends him packing. he enrols in the program partly for his father, and partly because he’s got nothing else going on.
personality.
he’s significantly more chipper when he’s intoxicated, so his cockiness isn’t as irritating as it is when he’s sober. quite self-concerned, and has a sort of smile where you don’t know if it’s going to break out into a laugh that’s at you or with you. sometimes hard to discern whether he’s joking or not, will debate with you then drop it the next second if something else catches his attention (a grumble in his stomach, a bird outside), makes pretty snap-judgements but is never intentionally cruel, he’s quite easy to get along with but can be intense, but it’s really nothing to be scared of. a bit of a contrarian for giggles!
headcanons. (some are vaguely nsfw but nothing graphic!)
has never overtly had a scandal, like he was never caught outright doing drugs or having sex etc but the energy that he carries implies that he would be the type of person who would do that. so it’s very easy to NOT give him the benefit of the doubt when he’s pictured in potentially compromising situations.
studied a variety of subjects, would literally go to any class that seemed interesting but settled, maybe in his fourth year or so, taking mostly philosophy and sociology classes. one of his first tik tok’s was just him being like ‘you can literally just walk into any class, professors don’t care, they don’t take attendance after the first week.’ a notorious replier to comments, a troll, plays dumb when he gets hate comments very ‘you wanna fuck me so bad it makes you look stupid’ energy. really enjoyed university but definitely because he had the luxury of taking it at his own pace and taking sometimes, semester-long breaks, in between summer abroads.
always feels as though he gets roped into doing business when he’s home in poland which has made him pretty averse to going home other than when he was called to which is a shame because he knows there’s so much to poland than through the lens he’s sees it in and genuinely knows he’s actually a pretty big family guy because whenever he visits family in the philippines he literally never wants to leave.
a non-exhaustive list of scandals that he will say are not scandals at all: attended london fashion week and these were his looks, posted a replica of this exact picture on his insta (which has everything you’d find on a finsta) but he’s reading the rise and fall of the great powers, an insane amount of instagram lives where he’s just vibing to music while in a taxi on the way to dinner or on a plane back home, says ask me questions then replies to like two of them, 24 hour charity twitch stream raising funds for threatened and endangered sea creatures where he sat in the tub in his boxers but when he got out to get the sushi he ubereat’d his boxers stuck to his pee pee which resulted in a tumblr post like this which gained far too much traction, also people thought him eating sushi was a bit insensitive. lastly, a weekend-long art exhibit entitled ME, with was a room consisting of old televisions with him doing what could only be construed as salacious acts on them - one tv with a video of him snorting an unidentifiable white powder, every tv has a piece of masking tape on it and written on this one is: THIS IS NOT COCAINE. another tv with really zoomed in on a dick with a hand around it, the masking tape says: THIS IS NOT MY PENIS. etc etc. (and it wasn’t but he never divulged that because that’s the whole point of the exhibit but admittedly also what probably sent his father over the edge).

&&. announcing his grace, ( nikita kurakin ), the ( 54 ) year old ( grand duke ) of ( far eastern russia ). he is often confused with ( keanu reeves ). some say that he is ( closed-off & inflexible ), but he is actually ( just & steadfast ). ( OOC: C )
part of the kurakin family survived the 1917 revolution by chance — and it was not the main branch. the main branch very much perished with the rest of the heads of the big noble families. that was what you got for living in saint petersburg. the branch that survived kept their heads down and attempted to blend into the mass.
czar aleksandr’s victory was celebrated by selected few, including the kurakins. nikita’s father practically raced to the other side of the country to welcome the new leader. it was time for the kurakin family to be reborn alongside the country. nikita learned of his family’s regained title weeks after they had been gifted it by the czar. this was because information had not been allowed to reach the military bases in the far eastern russia. young, 22-year-old nikita had had no chance of calling or receiving a letter from his family as a green junior sergeant.
nikita had had a plan: he’d do his conscription, stay in the army, rise up ranks and not get killed. this plan took a turn when he was told that somewhere in the future he’d have to become the duke of khabarovsk. nikita knew nothing about pubic administration. it was an issue. nikita chose to worry about it later  — he had to concentrate on his career in the military if he wanted to become anything more than a junior sergeant.
later came much much later. over a decade later, a bit before nikita turned thirty-six. nikita inherited the ducal title from his father and had to put his military career on hold. it took a while to get comfortable in his father’s shoes. the toes were tight but the sides loose. he needed to make the position his own  — which he did by adding military-like preciseness and transparency into the mix. the khabarovskian nobility eventually accepted the new administration and things began to function well. he had gavril to thank for that as well. gavril’s marriage to princess irina motivated people to be nice to nikita.
nikita grew comfortable in his position. he had learnt how to handle his subjects, he had learnt to stay firm without being unreasonable, he had figured a way to serve in the army while still keeping things rolling in his duchy. nikita’s work spoke for itself. if he kept it up, he would be alright. he wanted his duchy to flourish so he poured his energy into his work. he was particularly fond of being sent on international missions  — to china, to japan, to mongolia... he knew the importance of the relations much better than someone from the west. the west didn’t quite understand how dependent far eastern russia was on their neighbours, how much wealth and prosperity the neighbouring countries could bring them.
then came alexei’s coronation. nikita was the first person who received a title from him. not long after alexei became the czar, nikita was made into the grand duke of far eastern russia. it was a great honor but part of him was reluctant to accept the title. it came accompanied by great responsibility, more work, and it gifted him with new enemies within russia.
nikita had to prove himself all over again and this time he wasn’t entitled to the title. he really had to show everyone that he was worthy of it. working alongside alexei was motivating though. nikita could respect a fellow military man and a person who was determined to improve russia.
as nikita secured his position as the grand duke of far eastern russia, he came to realize that perhaps his fondness for the romanovs had been misplaced. from the other side of russia, he followed the romanovs and their ambitious undertakings. did mother russia need what the romanovs were trying to give her ? nikita was unsure and absolutely certain that not one person from far eastern russia would get involved with it.
nikita has been firm in his stance and so far it has not been much of an issue. he is free to use his time and energy on a more important matter: china. the power struggle in the country is something nikita is personally interested in. he had great respect for the late emperor and cannot help but to feel sympathetic towards lixue who is trying to carry the torch.

&&. announcing his majesty, ( maximilian alexander dorian von grünenberg ), the ( 35 ) year old ( king ) of ( switzerland ). he is often confused with ( bill skarsgârd ). some say that he is (harsh and arrogant ), but he is actually ( meticulous and devoted ).
[ ooc note: ok his bio is really long i apologize but heres a tl/dr - max has finally arrived! he’s kind of an asshole! every shitty thing that has happened in and around switzerland in the past decade is his regent uncle’s fault and this is a hill he will die on! fuller bio below the cut but we want all the connections ever so plz give this a like or comment and will will come bother you xoxo]  tw: mentions of death
King of Spades
The call came the night before his tenth birthday. A skiing accident and a broken neck, there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent it, for their beloved king was so adventurous and bold. It was so very like his father to die in the most stereotypical swiss way imaginable, Max might have found it ironic were he not suddenly thrust into a crown that did not fit yet and a spotlight that was far too bright.
Frederick had done everything right - married for love but married well, had six beautiful children and an heir he was raising to be strong and kind, safeguarded the power and wealth his family had built up over generations, and wielded Swiss neutrality and economic power as the weapon and influence it could always be. And then he was gone, his brother Dorian named Regent until the golden boy came of age. Dorian was not all those wonderful things they said about his brother, he was ambitious and ruthless, cold and cruel. Under the protection of his dead brother’s name, he raised the golden boy into something lethal.
Max, old enough to remember his father’s lessons on balancing compassion and strength but far too young to do anything but listen, became the creature his uncle wanted. The boy was clever and observant, taking in not only the offered lessons on strategy and statecraft, but unintentional ones, the mistakes and calculations - dismissive arrogance and greed. By the time he was 18, the Golden Boy was nothing more than a facade, a mask to hide a being of spite and cunning.
King of Clubs
Max played the part exceptionally well, covering his anger and introversion with enough charm and wit, all while maintaining the elusive air one expects of royalty. Only his siblings and childhood best friend saw a softer side of the prince, a playful ease that hinted at the man he might have been, who he should have been. Kindness was weakness, those you loved could be used against you - and so he only allowed himself to really care for those chosen few. Samuel, his chosen brother, partner in crime (perhaps actually?), confidant and advisor. They’d grown up together and his uncle deemed the other boy a good enough companion for a future king so they remained close until Samuel went to school. It was nice, Max thought, to have someone outside of his family who didn’t constantly expect him to have his shit together all the time. Particularly with the weight and admiration of five younger siblings, the expectations of a nation.
Dorian’s ambition made him bolder, and Max’s resentment grew out of his own powerlessness. He went to the very best university in Switzerland, of course, his own stubbornness and obsessive nature keeping him near the top of his class. After sitting in on a meeting on international trade where his uncle brushed aside his questions and concerns, saying ‘leave the details to the experts,’ Max decided to become one. He genuinely hated most parts of his PhD in economics, despite how much he liked being at Oxford, but he was far too stubborn and spiteful to give it up.
And then, simply because he could, Max earned a law degree as well. “So I can be absolutely certain no one will fuck me over in the fine print,” was the only reasoning offered when asked by his sister who’d never known the man their father was. It was to protect them, protect his country as he did all he could to save them from the ambitions and greed of his uncle. But really Max loved the nuances and details of the law, the way one or two words could completely change the meaning over time. Other men, other rulers might win influence through force, but the Swiss had always done so with money and words. Now Max was an expert in both.
King of Hearts
Thirty five haunted him, both a death sentence and endless opportunity. So Max did whatever he could to release some of the ever mounting pressure. Naturally reserved and guarded, the prince rarely if ever let anyone get too close, though many tried. He’s left behind a string of lovers and flings, some he even managed to date publicly for a little while. No one made it through the armor, many would describe him as cold and harsh almost to the point of cruelty. The people forgave him these little flings, of course, their beloved golden boy was young and deserved to have his fun, particularly with all the tragedy and pressure.
Until he was no longer as young, and talk shifted into who came next. Hadn’t the late king proven to them all that life was short and unpredictable? Enter Catherine.
Clever, beautiful Catherine who’s ambitions and ruthlessness rivaled his own, all wrapped up in the prefect package. It was supposed to be just one thing, another fling and another name to add to his growing list. When she sought him out again, this time with the offer of marriage, the prince laughed - “That good, was it?” And then she laid out her plan before him with a cool efficiency so unlike the persona she put on for the world, Max had to have her. One crown was great, but two were better. And so, after extensive negotiations and likely the most complex and detailed pre-nup agreement in recent memory, Max slipped his mother’s ring on her finger and it was done.
They sold the world a story of true love, two decisive people who knew what they wanted and found it in each other. The wedding was a blur of extravagant pageantry befitting two great and powerful houses and Max hated every second of it. Until it was just the two of them left in that massive, unfamiliar estate. Half delirious from exhaustion, or maybe it was the scotch, he laughed at how heavy her accent grew when she was tired. Catherine the Great, he’d called her when she’d first laid out her plan with that empire building look in her eyes, and meant it as a taunt. Catherine the Great, he called her again, and then took her to bed.
Frederick was born and his world shifted. Max had always excelled at the political game, as cunning and ruthless as he’d been crafted. It had always been his own ambition and resentment that drove him, his nation that he put first. Then Catherine gave him a son, this tiny perfect human with his eyes and her mouth, and Max knew he would do absolutely anything for this child. It was terrifying.
King of Diamonds
Thirty five mere months away, and these days he’s haunted by long dead kings.
The thing about all those dead kings, he learned, was that history forgot their flaws and foibles. We  even forget they were human, fallible at all to begin with. No, when a monarch dies they become defined by either the very best thing they achieved in their reign, or the very worst. No nuance, nothing that would suggest a whole person, one with dreams and wants and interests outside of the crown. Not when all anyone ever reads is the first two sentences of a wikipedia article. And then, with enough time, the worst thing one might have done could be seen in a better light, just as the best thing a king achieved will become meaningless, trite or even performative.
Academically speaking, and on this point Max was quite the expert, the very best a King or Queen or Monarch could hope for was to die young and beloved. Tragedies are always forgiven, and these late rulers are not measured by the little that they did, but rather the unfulfilled potential cut tragically short. Of course, these expectations are naturally then thrust upon their heirs, doubling that which was already placed upon them at too young an age. (Max was just self aware enough to recognize that he was projecting a bit with this, but far too stubborn/arrogant to change. )
Heavy is the head that bears the crown, the saying goes, but there is an unspoken addendum one does not learn until it’s too late. Heavier still are the shoulders of the fatherless heir.

Name: Johannes Fredrick Elias Von Grunenberg
Birthday: Thursday, June 27, 1991
Age: 31
Astro Sign: Cancer
Station: Prince of Swizterland, Duke of Bern
Marital Status: Married
Fun facts: (TW: Depression, OCD)
Hans has a diagnosis of clinical depression and OCD. This doesn’t define his life but it definitely throws a kink in his ability to cope with the loss of his father and his exile. He is currently in online therapy. He prefers it this way because he finds talking to someone that close (in the same room) would be too intimate an act.
Hans is a jokester within his family who uses humor as a way to mask his sorrows. He is very kind and loving but has since closed himself off to the world.
If he doesn’t know you, he is very standoffish and often very aloof. Painfully quiet when he is upset or unsure of a situation.
The best way to keep his mind busy is to be physical. He likes to work out in the gym, go skiing, and spar with Klaus for funsies.
Hans can speak five languages fluently: French, German, English, Italian, and Japanese. He went through an anime phase back in Uni and picked it up as a side hobby. He knows a few others but not in the sense of speaking comfortably for long periods of time.
Hans and Ren are very much like irish twins (born so close in age) the two basically bonded like twins. Ren is the only sibling who Hans feels like he can pour all of his feelings into without being a burden. The only secret he has ever kept from Ren was the subject of his exile.
During his exile in Paris, Hans had thoughts of following in his uncle’s footsteps as a disruptor and potentially lay claim to the throne but that withered with time.
One of the better memories from Paris, Hans was able to be an adjunct professor in one of the smaller educational institutions and he loved every second of it.
Hans attended Oxford but isn’t as forthcoming in flaunting the fact that he followed in Max’s footsteps.
Hans is riddled in tattoos, all in places that you can’t see unless he shows you. He considered getting a neck tattoo but knew it would send his mother into an early grave.
Biography
Johannes “Hans” Von Grunenberg can be called many things: Prince of Switzerland, duke of bern, black sheep; more notably: second born and first scorned. Born under the luminescent glow of a  penumbral lunar eclipse, he has been steeped in the inky darkness of the unknown before the light trickled back along the rolling horizon in Geneva. Johannes, the second born son, sat as a failsafe and a replacement if anything were to go awry with the rearing of the next heir to the Swiss throne. His father never stated that precedent but the world had always brandished Hans position as such; his uncle only played on this notion throughout his childhood. Hans didn’t mind much that he was predestined to follow the tails of Max’s coat because he simply wished to be included in the grand adventure played out in the deep reds and gold. For the most part, Max had been the best big brother one could be before the walls came crashing in. Their father’s death marked a shift in the family dynamic that never quite set correctly; a broken bond riddled with weakness and doubt.
Hans’s sense of camaraderie had been turned on him with Max’s departure. Both young men needed to reflect the values of their country with the crown shaping their futures. Hans comfortably skated on following the framework laid out by Max. Whatever he did, Hans strived to do better.  The fires of competition fanned for the greater part of their adolescents and into young adulthood. There was no reaching Max on an emotional level but he obtained some form of reaction by vexing the young man. Unbeknownst to him, at the time, this need to one up Max came from the belly of their uncle who wished to obtain power through him. The voyeurism and greed set Hans on a course that would alter the very fabric of his being and the relationship between brothers. His unlikely kinship with their uncle and the overcasting doubt of a secret discovered but never professed forced Hans into exile on Max’s order. Despite their unspoken competition, Hans faithfully hung off his brother’s word and would never stray from his loyalty. If he played his cards right, maybe just maybe, Max would join hands with him once more and they’d be brothers instead of rivals.
Hans excelled in school. It had been the only place he ever felt seen. His brilliance came from the vast words written by dead poets and scholars who came before him. Much to no one’s surprise, he followed Max’s footsteps in attending Oxford and obtained his Juris Doctor in Law. Hans knew he would never see inside of a courtroom in his lifetime, the limits of being a prince, but he loved the order of law. He desired being able to teach it to University students looking to make a change in the world. He felt the most at home behind the field of browning pages. He could escape himself in there and be whomever he wished to be.
Unfortunately, that was a latent dream smothered out under the guise of a “greater” Switzerland. An unrivaled ascension to power that couldn’t be tainted by Hans presence in the country. Taking his leave, Hans found himself in the pleated folds of silk and tulle in the heart of the Parisian experience. Paris opened a new world to a woeful man and garnered love that always seemed out of reach from his mother and older brother. Hans became a bit of a recluse diving into his only safe space, academia, while flirting with danger. Manon marked the start and end of an emotional expansion within the stoic young man. He loved her with every inch of him, despite the holes in his fortitude, only to be denied the same love back. Manon broke him into frayed pieces and cemented that sense of listlessness. He couldn’t even keep it together in a new city with people who didn’t know him as a younger man. Hans left Paris to return to Geneva. He resigned himself to the whims of the crown, waiting for the next string of directives while keeping an eye on the younger ones. The spaces where Max couldn’t connect, Hans happily filled the void. He fielded every issue, woe, and growing pain each one had experienced with a smile. He was the brother that one would call from a jail cell to discreetly bail them out; big brother was a job he took very seriously.
Acting dutifully, Hans made the decision to marry. He grew tired of the mindless matchmaking and conversations about when he would be next to follow Max’s footsteps. He wasn’t getting any younger but his heart didn’t seem interested in loving anyone else. The welsh princess kicked through his chest and left him hollow. By an act of God or cosmic humor, Hans drank himself into a stupor once night and stumbled into the throes of a majestic woman serving out her own personal exile. Enthralled by her charisma and the prospect of a mutually beneficial courtship, Hans proposed to her on the promise that he would allow her to continue to live how she wished with all of the protections of his station. Ascending to Duke of Bern, Hans hopes to be able to provide shelter for his wife’s own plans to overthrow the opposition in her own family and regain her place in line for power. Hans is well aware that when this happens, their marriage will dissolve but he doesn’t mind it.

&&. announcing her royal highness, ( manon margaret alys powys ), the ( 26 ) year old ( princess ) of ( wales ). she is often confused with ( victoria pedretti ). some say that she is ( apathetic and cruel ), but she is actually ( resilient and tenacious )
[ i am physically incapable of writing a short bio so apologies for that !! but here is manon, she’s a menace to society who absolutely does not want to be here and is about to make it everyone’s problem ! tw for implied violence, drug use, OD below the cut ]
There is nothing particularly remarkable about her past, nothing deeply traumatic or otherwise impactful that might explain why Manon Margaret Alys Powys is the way that she is. She knows this because she’s had to sit through many therapists and psychiatrists attempting to divine some sort of revelation, all asking the very same questions and expecting a different outcome. Of course, there is the obvious explanation - privilege and wealth and status all gifted by the circumstances of her birth as the youngest Princess of Wales. But that answer never quite satisfies, not when her two elder siblings turned out mostly fine. No, there was always something a bit off about her.
Manon didn’t particularly care.
As a child, Manon had taken to manipulation the way other children took to reading or maths. Does not play well with others - was how a few primary school teachers phrased it. Later braver souls would use words like ‘complete disregard for peers’, ‘inclination towards cruelty’, and likely far worse out of earshot. In another child, this would be cause for great concern. Perhaps it was her position and title, or maybe her parents were so attached to their ignorance. Their littlest princess with those sapphire eyes and darling face, an almost uncanny ability to produce both tears and smiles on a whim served her far longer than expected, even as they managed to uncover the rest of her manipulations.
But really, Manon was bored. Achingly, mind-numbingly, maddeningly bored. The kind of boredom that crawls inside your skin and then screams out for release, every lingering moment of banality a thudding ache inside her skull. And so she became driven by this search for stimulation, for a thrill, for whatever might catch her fleeting attention and hold on for longer than a passing obsession. Because without somewhere to focus that energy, the princess had a tendency towards destruction. A broken vase or glass, something pushed over for the sheer satisfaction of a crash and the accompanying outcry. She’d always had a talent for breaking things, something that became more refined as she grew older.
Boredom and destruction manifested in apathy, her erratic restlessness seemingly stifled by that castle in Wales. And why wouldn’t it be? She wasn’t, as she might argue, particularly necessary. They already had Arwyn and Gwen, an heir and a spare, each of her siblings the clear favorite of one of their parents. Her father was by all measures devoted to his family, stern but never cruel in a way Manon couldn't quite figure out. Mother proved even more confusing, more like a character in some fairytale - beautiful and regal - than someone real who might understand her. This is not at all to say that her parents did not care for her, in fact they cared very deeply. But Manon, in that particular way of hers, understood that no amount of manipulation would allow her to ever surpass her siblings, so it was a waste to try. Because for all her childhood cruelty and manipulation, Manon had tried to care. She’d spent years trailing after Gwen and Arwyn attempting to be whatever it was that they might want from a little sister, although it never quite snagged her fickle attention for long.
Her grandmother always proved an exception to this, perhaps they were similar, or maybe Manon just adored being someone’s favorite, but her grandmother has always been the one who knew her the best, even after she left. Which she decided at a young age would be the best thing for her. Like many girls of her wealth and status, Manon had been stuck in ballet since a young age. She even managed to have a significant natural talent for it, and even more shockingly, did not tire of it after a few months. Most importantly, it was a way out.
Manon, through sheer obsessive will and her natural talent (not to mention the added benefit of her title and wealth), managed to secure a position in the Paris Opera Ballet School at age 12. With her grandmother’s help she convinced  her parents to let her go, and the world opened up before her. She was good enough to keep her position in the school, but not the very best or even one of them - a fact which grated on her with each passing year. Still, she was alone, given the space away from her family to exist as the only one who mattered in her own life, and that was crucial.
Despite this space and freedom, Manon was still herself - obsessive and self centered, and that cruel streak she could ignore for only so long. So there were…incidents. Nothing that could ever be tied to her, of course, but she had been passing by when the best dancer in her level so tragically tripped down the stairs, breaking her foot. Manon’s convincing tears over finding her hurt and the subsequent weeks of playing devoted and generous friend kept any serious suspicion away. But then wasn’t it so strange that the only girl who got food poisoning that day was doing the solo Manon had been passed over for, relegated to understudy? Her position and perhaps reputation kept any allegations at bay, but they never quite trusted her after this. By the time she’d reached the highest level in the school, her obsession had utterly faded and she turned down the oh so coveted offer to join the company as a dancer on trial.
She spent the next few years soaking up as much of the relative freedom Paris offered as she could, giving in to any passing whim that might turn obsession, flitting through various ballrooms and seedy bars. The school had served to refine her cruelty, helped to hone that restless and often fickle apathy into an obsession with control all whilst providing the discipline she’d lacked in Wales. It was a heady combination, particularly when one had charm and beauty and wealth to open doors. But without an outlet, Manon fell back into the habit of breaking things simply because she could. Not vases and trinkets this time, but whatever sort of challenge she could sink her teeth into - be it a heart or something more.
It was almost a cliche. A wayward prince on his self induced exile - running from his past, or his family, or his responsibilities. She caught his eye across some smoky salon and something about him snagged her still fleeting attention. Maybe it was the way he looked at her, or how he seemed to slip in and out of melancholy the way others did the latest fashions, something about the way he felt things so deeply that she wanted to figure out. He’d sought out a glittering distraction, an escape from whatever it was that haunted him. Manon was fine with that. She was good at that, playing the unattainable dream girl. It would last a season, before she got bored or duty dragged him home. But it didn’t. His arrogance a match for her spite, he did not flinch at the touch of cruelty she let shine through the pretty veneer. Here’s where they both made a mistake - Manon got attached. Hans assumed she would change.
Because for a fleeting moment, there was a chance. She became accustomed to his presence at her side, depended on it. His absurd habit of rising with the sun, coaxing her out of bed far sooner than she’d like to be dragged to some cafe he’d found. Maybe that was the best thing - here, in this pocket of the world, they were simply Hans and Manon. His tendency to haunt bookstores and cafes, not a wayward prince but a brooding academic. And she’d lived in this house and this neighborhood for nearly a decade now, her cruelty never extending to those shopkeepers and neighbors who always found her charming - only he bothered to call her princess anymore. Her obsessive, selfish nature focused on him, but not as something to break, no - as someone worthy of her devotion.
The illusion shattered and this time it was not entirely her fault. He wanted to let the rest of the world in, his romantic notions about marriage threatening this thing that was just theirs, the thing she would call love. Manon knew that it would not survive under scrutiny, not with the expectations and influence inherent to their names and positions. She’d thought they were happy, away from the prying eyes of family and the responsibilities of title. But he slipped the heirloom ring on her finger like a shackle, and spoke of showing her off at the wedding of the very brother who’d exiled him. She took his ring when she left that night, the weight settling on a chain around her neck. It wasn’t until her flight landed in New York that Manon realized he was still in possession of the heart she’d never before considered.
She’d always been so good at breaking things. It was only a matter of time before she broke his heart, but she’d never considered the possibility that a part of her might break as well.
New York proved even better than Paris, or maybe she’d just lost the bit of her that still held affection for these things. Her title garnered even less reverence here, a bit of novelty those around her found deeply amusing, just as they did her cruelty and fluid recklessness. Manon gave into the apathy, that search for a thrill that might ensnare her flighty attention into a worthwhile obsession. Drugs had always been a facet of her world, something she indulged in occasionally  as her obsessive need for control never let her have more than two drinks. She was sometimes reckless, but very often lucky. Bad things did not happen to people like her, no, they happened to others and often at her bidding. And when she left the part of her that might care on his bedside, all that remained was the glittering, gossamer delusion where youth, beauty, wealth, and influence meant invincibility, or even near divinity with the accompanying immortality.
Until Manon was alone and shivering in an NYPD precinct, having found her current fling on the bathroom floor far too late and unable to recall where the lovely model had gotten the drugs. She had enough sense to demand they contact the embassy, and was on a private flight home within six hours. Another part of her broken and left behind in New York, this illusion of safety, or perhaps she would just become even more apathetic and cruel. It didn’t matter, really, not when she’d fucked up any chance of freedom. A month or two  in Wales, to be sure that she was fine (read: not addicted to anything), and then they would figure out what to do with their wayward princess.
Manon had been away so long she felt like a stranger, holidays and various trips fading from memory as the staff and her parents figured out how to coexist with whatever she’d become. She didn’t know, or rather didn’t care to define it. A warning, a wraith, some feral creature pacing the length of a gilded cage with unnerving grace and rage. Manon wasn’t sure if they even noticed, or cared, beyond her grandmother - to whom she offered enough of the truth, as she always had.
Manon at last spoke the truth about how she’d come alive in Paris, how she might have loved, might have let herself need another person for once and then broken it simply because she’d gotten too attached, and would rather carve out her own heart than allow anyone else the power to hurt her. How she might be  lost, chasing something she wasn’t sure existed, and how it only ever felt like anyone really cared about her when she was a threat. The Queen Mother stroked her youngest granddaughter’s hair as she quietly confessed, unable to summon tears without a real purpose. They sat in comfortable silence for a long while, the elder woman knowing there was nothing she could say that would change anything, and that her grandchild had merely needed someone to listen, without prejudice, as she always had to her favorite Manon.
The Queen Mother decided to convince her son to send his youngest to Spain, to be with her sister. There she might have a bit more freedom than in Wales, feel a bit less lost. The matriarch of the Powys line had always seen so much of herself in her granddaughters, perhaps they would finally find it in each other.

&&. announcing his royal highness, ( robert stuart ), the ( 45 ) year old ( prince ) of ( scotland ). he is often confused with ( lee pace ). some say that he is ( opinionated & unserious ), but he is actually ( loving & friendly ). ( OOC: isa )
There are no fairy godmothers nor are there guardian angels but some higher power always kept young Robert from burning his fingers, breaking his arm or scraping his knees when he ran around wildly. He cared little for his own safety and the safety of others. When he grew a tad older that same gracious benevolent will kept him from getting caught by his father’s stern eyes when he was testing the limits, experimenting with other rebellious souls, and making a goofy fool out of himself. Robbie calls it dumb luck, his siblings insist ( with an eye roll ) that it was just the privilege of the youngest child.
Robbie’s secret escapades and thirst for freedom turned him into a globe-trotter, you see, when he got a bit more older his father’s opinion began mattering less and the public’s opinion more. When he fucked up, with his father he could get away with a slap on the wrist and a couple of harsh words — but with the public, he had to make up for it for weeks if not for months. He did not like media training. He often spoke out of turn and let the stupidest comments roll off his tongue. Controlling himself was not something he was fond of — and fortunately, abroad he didn’t really need to do it. When he was in his 20s the internet’s presence wasn’t nearly as strong and video cameras were not glued on him 24/7... and most importantly, outside of Scotland not that many people knew who he was. He could just be Robbie.
He did his uni in Rotterdam and didn’t regret it in the slightest. Even twenty years later he can order a coffee and a waffle ( and inform everyone he is going to take a piss ) in Dutch. In the international economics program he did not need to learn Dutch. So he didn’t. The aforementioned three things are essentially all of the Dutch he knows. He didn’t learn Dutch but German and French with a bit of Spanish on the side. They were important for the things he wanted to accomplish — and that was to jump from one conference to another all over Europe. Three languages mattered the most so he did his best to master them. His French is awful and none of the d’Orléans would appreciate his effort if he tried speaking to them in French.
After graduation he kept busy. There were a lot of conferences to attend and he’s social enough to get invited officially and unofficially. Slowly he grew and matured, and Edinburgh suddenly didn’t feel nearly as confining and boring as it had been. Besides, his niece is growing up and she’s a joy to be around. His trips became more infrequent.
He didn’t really know what was missing until Wiebke stepped into the picture. Their one night stand stayed on his mind and he kept calling himself a romantic fool for having her on his mind for so long. A German lass that had visited and disappeared! Give him a break! He tirelessly joked about it whenever he hit the pub with his friends.
And then they met again. She’s even more beautiful than he remembered. He had a stupid need to make sure she wanted to stay in touch. He felt accomplished every time he saw the muscles of her cheeks tense before she broke into a smile. When she laughed, he got sent to heaven.
Loving Wiebke was and is not easy. Hold her too tightly and her suspicion starts creating cracks in the glass. Stay too far away and you’re told you’re hiding something. Robbie’s blessing was his consistency and honesty. He has never been afraid of showing his feelings and making his intentions clear. With someone like Wiebke, the characteristics are needed.
Until now his relationship with Wiebke has been about proving himself to her and keeping her from causing harm to herself and the people around her. The new waters they have entered are confusing and difficult to navigate through — it feels like it’s her time to start proving things to him. He’s just a bit worried that he won’t find his name at the top of her list. It’s perfectly possible that he will lose to “ a bloody soggy scrap of land that not one soul had heard about until they started fighting over it.”
