am not against dadrius but why does everyone do it so boringly by pretending that darius would be a perfect parental figure. be real. he was complicit in hunter’s abuse. he treated hunter terribly and only warmed up (slightly) to this traumatized child soldier when hunter “redeemed” himself by behaving in a way darius approved of. he was wrong, and wrong in ways that furthered hunter’s suffering. and none of that means darius couldn’t someday be a good parent to hunter! but he would need to work towards that; pretending that darius is already at that point does their dynamic a real disservice. the redemptive reparative aspect is what’s interesting in their relationship. love! and forgiveness! and being better than who you were!
