House Hunters International: Outlander Edition
Obviously a crack!idea that has come to life. Yes, I do spend a wee too much time watching House Hunters, but who doesn’t. We’re going to go with this being an modern AU for our Jamie and Claire. Two little girls, Faith and Brianna as well. As of right now, this is going to be a 4 parter story because in house hunters we always get the little background into the family, then they tour three different properties, and then we see them living happily ever after in the house that they chose. So, I am planning to stick to that format as well. Shout out to @futurelounging and @bonnie-wee-swordsman for this crack!fic idea and helping me spawn off some thoughts to get this plot bunny into motion.
To say I was tired was an understatement. I had not washed my hair in nearly three days, slept more than a consecutive 4 hours in a row in four days and had not seen my husband in the daylight in almost five. Residency was going to be the actual death of me. I had vomit from a two year old with a pneumonia on my scrub bottoms, some lady’s blood from bed 4 on my scrub top, and I had iodine stains on my *new* converse shoes from the trauma that had made me go over my clock out time, by four and a half hours. It was now nearing two AM and as I closed my locker in the resident’s lounge and sat on the bench. I put my hands in my face and heard the door open. *What I would do for five minutes alone.* I thought to myself, contemplatively.
“What are you still doing here, Lady Jane?” I heard Joe Abernathy ask me. With a sigh of relief, I looked up and smiled at my dear friend.
“A trauma rolled in just as I was about to clock out. Being chief resident is going to be the death of me, Joe.”
“Maybe so, LJ. But I have to admit, you’re the only one who was even remotely equipped with the skill set to take those nails out of that man’s head. Aren’t you off for the next few days?” Joe asked as he took off his lab coat and hung it on his locker, right across from mine.
“I am off for four, glorious days. I can’t wait to kiss my husband and get no sleep because of toddlers. And have a pager that is going to stay permanently off.” I replied as I turned my pager off. “But we’re finally going house hunting. I can’t handle a 1100 square foot flat with two toddlers and being on the third floor. Between strollers, diaper bags, groceries, and lack of sleep, both Jamie and I have decided we need to move to a bigger place.”
“Ah.” Joe laughed as he washed his hands in the sink. “I remember hunting for our first house. We thought we were on the same page with what we wanted out of a house and then we looked at the first three and well… The wife and I wanted very different things.”
I had to laugh, that was the feeling I was expecting to happen with me and Jamie as well. “I have a feeling that is what my experience is going to be like. And I don’t know who will back down first, me or Jamie.”
Joe sat down next to me, patting me on the shoulder. “Well, marriage is just a game of give and take, or being stubborn till you both get what you want. We found that when we walked into the house, it just felt like home. Don’t fret, LJ. You’l find the place you’re meant to raise your red headed Frasers. I promise.”
I smiled at him, standing up and grabbing my bag. “Thanks, Joe. Now I’m going home to kiss my husband and hopefully spend some time with him before one of my spawns decides to wake up before dawn.”
As I got home, I quietly peered into the second bedroom and looked at the girls, asleep in their cribs. I dropped my bag on the couch and crossed the room to our bedroom. I opened the door to find Jamie in his usual starfish position. I slipped out of my scrubs and threw on my pajamas. I pulled the duvet down and started to slide into my side of the bed, as to try and not wake Jamie up. I quietly gasped as I felt his cold hands on my the sides of my hip.
“Jamie!” I said, in almost a whisper.
“There ye are.” Jamie said as he pulled me on top of him, slowly undoing my pajama bottoms. “I have missed ye.”
Having seen not nearly enough of my redheaded husband, I kissed him on his bare chest. “Are you sure you want to do that, I smell like a sterile hospital and I haven’t washed my hair since I bathed the girls before my shift the other day, and I’m pretty sure you’re exhausted because—”
I was cut short by Jamie’s mouth overcoming mine. He kissed me slowly, shimmying my pajama bottoms off. I could feel his cold feet kick them off the bed and onto the floor. I smiled into his kiss, pushing my hips down onto his.
“Eager as well, are ye?” Jamie said as I felt him grab my elbows and roll us over so he was on top. “Ye do smell like a hospital, Claire. But I havena seen ye in almost five days. I need ye and I need ye, badly.”
I grabbed the top of his boxers pushing them off his hips.
“You do need me badly.” I laughed as I pulled his head down to mine.
“I’m tired of sharing ye with the hospital. Tonight, it’s just me and you, mo nighaen donn.” Jamie said as he slowly started to slide himself home.
“Oh, GOD, I’ve missed you.” I squeaked as he pushed my hips down into the mattress setting the rhythm. Jamie was slow and steady, taking his time, throughly showing me how much he had missed me. And when he slowed himself even slower for a minute, he cusped my face with his right hand bringing my attention to him for a moment, and was holding himself steady above me with his left hand.
“Ye need to stop making so many squeaky noises, Sassenach. Yer gonna wake the lassies up. Drywall in the new house, these plaster walls are not going to cut it.” Jamie said sternly. I laughed and kissed the hollow on his neck. I reached up grabbing his ass pulling him back down so his full weight was on me.
“Yes, master.” I playfully replied. “Wait till we can christen every surface in what will be our home.”
I felt Jamie smile into my curls, but as he started to move at a more erratic pace I was blissfully sent into oblivion.
I woke up to an empty bed. Not surprising, I thought to myself, Jamie knew I needed the sleep and I figured he got up with Faith and Brianna. I walked over to the closet, grabbing my robe and wrapping myself in the blue fleece.  I quickly made the bed and tried to brush the birds nest on top of my head but settled for throwing it up in some sort of a messy bun.
As I made my way to the door, I heard the soft giggles of Bree and I heard Faith yapping some nonsense to Jamie. I smiled. *God it was so good to be off for a few days.* I walked down the hallway to the smell of pancakes and butter. I watched as Jamie flipped one over and then turned to settle Bree in her highchair, feeding her a scoop of something orange.
“MAM!” Faith squealed as she ran into my arms.
“Hi baby!” I muttered as I scooped her up into my arms. “What’s da making you for breakfast?”
“Pwancakes! With sprinkles today too. Da says we gonna go shoppin for some fin later today!” Faith said as she stuck her syrupy hands on my face.
“Faith.” I heard Jamie say as he took the rag from the counter and wiped her hands. “I told ye not to touch anything until ye washed that syrup off your hands.”
“Don’t burn the pancakes, Jamie.” I said as I took the rag from his hands. “I’ll take the girls. Let’s eat and get ready. I told Joe we’d drop them off at noon and we’re meeting with Mrs. Crook at 12:45 to go over what we want and don’t want in a place.”
Jamie huffed and smiled as he turned back to the stove. “As ye wish, Sassenach.”
“I canna believe we are bairn free for a whole day.” Jamie said as he pulled into the realtor’s office parking lot.
“I can’t believe we’re both off and finally looking for a bigger place. If I step on one more teething toy when I get home from a shift, I am going to go bonkers!”
Jamie laughed as he opened my door and handed me my coat. “Well, Sassenach, ye are already as ye say, bonkers. Ye married a Fraser.”
“I sure did, didn’t I?”I said as I pulled him into the office.
Mrs. Crook’s office was warm and welcoming. A fair yellow on all the walls, a tiny desk with a computer and three big chairs.
“Och! That must be the Frasers!” Mrs. Crook called from the back room. “I shall be with the two of ye in just a moment!”
“Take yer time.” Jamie said as he took a seat in one the chairs. I quietly walked around the office, taking stock of all the pictures of families on the wall with their ‘sold’ signs.
“That will be the two of ye verra soon!” I heard from behind me as Mrs. Crook showed up with a pile of folders. “Let’s sit down and go over your must have lists, aye? Then narrow it down from there.” Mrs. Crook led me over to her desk. “Och. And ye must be Mr. Fraser. I have heard nothing but good things, mister!”
“James Fraser.” Jamie said as he stuck his hand out to Mrs. Crook.
“Mrs. Crook.” She replied happily and then took her seat.
Jamie smiled and took my hand in his.
“First home?” Mrs. Crook asked.
“Can ye tell?” Jamie asked with a large smile on his face.
“Sure can, the two of ye look like yer in over yer heads a bit, but dinna fash. I shall find ye the home of yer dreams. But first, we must go over what ye want and what ye willna want.”
Jamie let out a breath and sat back in his chair. “Claire’s commute has to be shorter than 30 minutes. I would like as much land as we can. Something around 7 or 8 acres, if possible. And weel, preferably something with dry wall over plaster walls because.” I felt Jamie’s hand tighten on mine and saw the red flare on the tips of his cheeks.  “Och, Claire likes to make squeaky noises when she’s in bed with me and Brianna is a light sleeper. You dinna want to wake a sleepy, cranky, red heided Fraser baby.”
“Jamie.” I said as I took my hand from out his grasp. “Mrs. Crook probably does not need to hear about that.”
Mrs. Crook laughed and smiled. “Dinna fash yerself, that is a verra reasonable request. And Mrs. Fraser what are yer requirements?”
I took a deep breath and gave Jamie a look. Two can play this game.
“Something a bit modest. A bit bigger than 1100 square feet, maybe around 2400 square feet. I’m not too picky. Although, I do love some good oak floors. My absolute must haves though would be a three bed two bath place. That’’s the minimum.” I said as I took one of the folders Mrs. Crook placed in my direction. I smiled and opened it. “And definitely dry wall, not plaster. Jamie likes to say ‘Oh, God’ and I don’t want a cranky Fraser myself.”
Mrs. Crook handed Jamie a folder and laughed. “Weel, that means newer construction for sure, if ye really want the dry wall. If not, sounds like ye’d have yerself TWO cranky Fraser’s Claire, and I willna lie, a cranky Jamie might be worse.”
Jamie laughed as he took the folder from her hands and opened it. “Ye best believe it.” He muttered under his breath.
Mrs. Crook put her hands down on the desk grabbing both our attentions. “So, it sounds to me like ye need a 3 bed 2 bath place, minimum. A decent amount of land, newer construction and preferably as close as we get Claire to the hospital but not too close to the city, aye?”
I smiled and reached for Jamie’s hand, intertwining our fingers. “That sounds exactly like what we need.”
“Weel, I have three different properties in mind. What do ye say we go look at the first one today?” Mrs. Crook said as she grabbed her purse from off the desk.
“Ye lead the way, Mrs. Crook. The Frasers are yers for the day.” Jamie said as he squeezed my hand in return.
“We must be off then, this first one is the furthest away!” Mrs. Crook said as we all stood up, Jamie and me following close behind her.
“You two just follow me in your car. It’s about a thirty minute drive from here.”
“Sounds like a plan.” I said as I grabbed the keys from out of Jamie’s hands. “I’m driving.” I shouted to Jamie as he slid into the passenger seat.
As sleep deprived as I was, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face and neither could Jamie.

under a cut for length and ease of editing in the future
gw2 oc masterlist here
Tumblr media
Komairu (canon agent, canon co-outlander, light side)
Romances: Shara Jenn, Raina Temple, Theron Shan
Siblings: Sunias, Farrai
When his sister began to show signs of Force sensitivity, Komairu’s parents planned a hasty escape from the Empire, one that led to a young Komairu being stranded and believed to be dead. Alone, he survived however necessary, until a heist gone wrong brought him into Imperial Intelligence’s sights. Given the option of joining their intensive training program to escape execution, Komairu accepted and excelled, despite the troubles sent his way. In the end, his loyalties are not to the Empire, but to those that matter to him. Imprisoned by Arcann alongside the Jedi Teness, they both found themselves possessed by Valkorion and with a connection neither of them anticipated.
Tumblr media
Teness (canon knight, canon co-outlander, light side)
Romances: Doc, Arcann*
Born on Dathomir, Teness was noticed by the Jedi as a baby and taken in for training. Always the misfit, she often struggled with following the Jedi code and controlling her temper, but was chosen by Master Orgus Din as a Padawan. With his guidance, she was able to grow even stronger, into the Jedi who would eventually take on and defeat the Sith Emperor. Imprisoned by Arcann alongside the agent Komairu, they both found themselves possessed by Valkorion and with a connection neither of them anticipated.
Tumblr media
Kaliir (canon bounty hunter, light side)
Romances: Mako*, Akaavi Spar*
Dar’manda by birth, Kaliir spent her life determined to be accepted as a true Mandalorian. When the chance came to enter the Great Hunt, she disguised herself and did so under an assumed name, only revealing her true past after winning, to prove her legitimacy. Mandalore himself adopted her into his clan and with her name honoured again, she continued to follow the path of the hunter.
Tumblr media
Ynor (non-canon bounty hunter, neutral)
Romances: Torian Cadera*
Imprisoned on Belsavis for a variety of charges, as many false as true, Ynor encountered Kaliir while she hunted for her target. Having had trouble with Skadge himself, and knowing the planet well, he offered his services instead and Kaliir accepted. Taking care of the Houk was a difficult proposition but between them they took him out of the picture, and he was offered a position on Kaliir’s crew as thanks for his assistance.
Tumblr media
Merrina (canon inquisitor, dark side)
Romances: Andronikos Revel
All Merrina has ever wanted was the power to choose her own destiny... but power itself will have to do. The life of a Sith Lord is not one she would have chosen, but she makes do with what she can get, and she plans to raise her children to have more freedom than she was ever given.
Tumblr media
Letida (canon trooper, light side)
Romances: Aric Jorgan
When your mother is a Fleet Admiral, there isn’t much choice but to go into the family business. While her family is a distant branch of House Organa, Letida has always felt more at home in the muck with soldiers. Placing her in charge of Havoc Squad, with her family name, was an easy way to dismiss any concerns about defection, but she grew into the position with a quiet leadership that inspired loyalty. Unfortunately, her mother had other plans for her future, and Havoc is about to be in a lot of trouble.
Tumblr media
Tlen (canon co-warrior, dark side)
Romances: Malavai Quinn
A Sith born to a powerful bloodline, Tlen’s entire future was in her own hands. At the Sith academy, her overconfidence and arrogance quickly became her downfall, and was easily matched by a student who had been training for only a few months. Accepting the defeat was a blow to her pride, but it only made her more powerful. She was chosen eventually to be the Emperor’s Wrath, slaying in his name, though she did not remain loyal as he tore her beloved Empire apart.
Tumblr media
Seraad (canon co-warrior, light side)
Romances: Vowrawn*, Jaegren*
Born to a Sith Lord and an Imperial officer, for the first few decades years of his life Seraad showed no signs of Force sensitivity. Accepting his role, with his bloodline, led him to serve as his father had, until an attack by Jedi awakened his latent powers. During his training, he was equally matched by another Sith, and Darth Baras chose them both to carry his plans forward. Hoping initially to temper his Sith partner’s violent tendencies, he eventually grew to respect her methods. When Tlen was chosen as the Emperor’s Wrath, he instead joined Darth Vowrawn’s personnel, making himself useful to the powerful Sith.
Tumblr media
Rethza (canon smuggler, light side)
Romances: Vette*, Risha*
The Force-blind daughter of a Sith, she dreamed bigger than the Empire would allow, and Rethza took her chance in neutral space and later, the Republic. While she was used by agents infiltrating the Republic, she walked away with a reputation bigger than she could have imagined, and was quick to show it off-- proud, despite her heritage, of what she'd accomplished.
Tumblr media
Sunias (canon consular, light side)
Romances: Lana Beniko
Siblings: Komairu, Farrai
Having escaped the Empire as a child, Sunias was immediately given to the Jedi for training. Her young age and natural affinity to the Force allowed her to let go of the early painful memories, the risk of Sith discovery long forgotten. Sunias excelled, quickly becoming the youngest Jedi Master, but her methods were always questionable-- rude and not always kind, but not evil. Some found her pragmatic methods to their liking, however, and she surrounded herself with likeminded beings-- Lana amongst them.
Tumblr media
Casini (non-canon agent, dark side)
Romances: Saganu
A loyal member of the Chiss Ascendancy, Casini was loaned to Imperial Intelligence to assist with her particular brand of information gathering. Believed to be trusted, instead she funnelled information to the Ascendancy to warn them of any possible betrayals from the Sith Empire.
Tumblr media
Fénire (non-canon consular, light side)
Romances: Koth, Zahied (@villainship)
A Jedi of no seeming consequence or intelligence, Fénire found himself recruited to work against the Eternal Empire after their invasion of the core worlds. Easy-going but stubborn, his love of plants, rocks, and children alike makes him an asset to the Alliance's support teams, even if his ability to read emotions leaves some with a degree of discomfort.
Tumblr media
Idrix (non-canon knight, light side)
Romances: ???
Best friends since childhood, and after surviving the sacking of Coruscant, Idrix became like a big sister to Fénire-- to her own detriment. A healer by practice, she spends more time keeping him out of trouble than anything else, and her attachment to her little brother has kept her from achieving the rank of Master-- but she wouldn't have it any other way.
Tumblr media
Vikkten (non-canon knight, dark side)
Romances: Lord Scourge
Once a Jedi soldier, Vikkten was ejected for slipping too close to the dark side in order to claim victory. Now he makes do with what work he can get to pay for the costly maintenance of his ever-growing cybernetics, at least until he runs into a Jedi of some repute.
Tumblr media
Khrenn (non-canon inquisitor, light side)
Romances: Khem Val
Forcibly attached to Merrina’s crew, Khrenn specialised in keeping his head down around the power-hungry Sith. While not initially a willing participant, his power grew alongside hers as they travelled, and he found himself developing an unexpected bond.
Tumblr media
Tirrine (non-canon agent, light side)
Romances: Vector
Not much is known of this mysterious assassin, and few of her targets have lived to tell tale of her skills.
Tumblr media
Siol (non-canon trooper, light side)
Romances: Elara Dorne
Tumblr media
Ikasir (non-canon agent, dark side)
Romances: Kaliyo Djannis
Crew of the Fortune’s Gamble:
The Fortune’s Gamble is a trading vessel, and the crew specialise in recovering lost or stolen artifacts. While they charge only what their patron can afford, their primary income is from recovering and returning lost lightsabers and other Jedi artifacts. But each of them has more than a few secrets that cause problems for them and their crew.
Tumblr media
Chiira (Zeltron, non-canon smuggler, light side)
The second child in a royal family, Chiira was not content with being second best and set out to make a life for herself. She met Riyk shortly thereafter and the two went into business together, pairing her engineering education and slight Force sensitivity with his skills getting in and out of war zones. But word is reaching her that her homeworld wants her back, and Chiira has no interest in returning.
Tumblr media
Riyk (non-canon smuggler, light side)
A former transport pilot, Riyk lost his young daughter in an Sith attack and set out to find her and bring her back to the light. But the Empire is large, and with no idea where to start, he aimed himself at Imperial war zones and hoped that one day he’d get lucky. Quickly running out of credits, he met Chiira and the two hatched a plan to stay comfortable and accomplish their own goals.
Tumblr media
Sohlaire (non-canon smuggler, dark side)
As a padawan, Sohlaire was captured and twisted by the Sith. After decades of a hopeless, dark life, he took the opportunity to escape when it arose. Cutting himself off from the Force, he instead became a ruthless pirate, until he stumbled across his lost lightsaber in the hands of the Fortune’s Gamble. Despite taking one of them hostage in an attempt to recover the lightsaber, he was eventually forgiven and joined the crew to provide what he called a “badly needed ruthlessness”.
Tumblr media
Farrai (non-canon trooper, dark side)
Siblings: Sunias, Komairu
Even as a child Farrai knew she could not live up to her parents’ expectations. Though she never knew of her lost brother, her Jedi sister was always a point of comparison even if they’d never met. Trying to prove a point, she enlisted in the Republic army, only for an assignment to go horribly wrong, leaving her a sole survivor among an entire platoon. Fearing that returning to duty would only lead to her death or imprisonment, Farrai found escape on the Fortune’s Gamble, offering her services as muscle as long as they wouldn’t turn her in.
Tumblr media
Cheid (non-canon bounty hunter)
Originally from Tatooine, Cheid is an odd sight on the hot planet, but they don’t know how or why they ended up there alone as a child. While not a member of the crew, Cheid ends up running into the Fortune’s Gamble more than they’d like. After Chiira saved their life, they run interference when other hunters get too close to one of the many bounties out on the crew, and sometimes use the crew to get close to one of their own targets.
Tumblr media
Malkah (Zabrak, non-canon smuggler, adopted child of Chiira and Riyk)

These days I actually have more favourite albums rather than artists, because I often adore a certain album by an artist but don’t care about any of their other stuff.)
song stuck in head: Nothing right now but I’m listening to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack so that’s gonna be stuck in my head all week...
If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future? I feel like visiting the future would just raise a lot of questions and worries, so I’d rather visit the past.
do I get asks: I get 1-3 asks per week, maybe?
following: 584
would you rather be rich or famous? Rich, definitely. Being famous wouldn’t help me in any way, but if I were rich I could instantly buy a nice little cottage in the countryside and have many pets and buy my mom a house too!
amount of sleep: Ideally 8.5-10 hours. On work days I get 7 hours, and on the weekends 10-12 hours. In winter I can sleep as much as I want so that’s great!
lucky number: I don’t have one? I mean I have a preference for the numbers 2 and 3, but I wouldn’t say they’re my lucky numbers...?
what I’m wearing: Bathrobe, t-shirt, PJ pants and fuzzy socks.
dream job: I’d love to be a groundskeeper of some old mansion.
dream trip: A trip where I’d travel all across New Zealand... I’d love to see the diversity of nature there, and of course I’d also love to visit the places where LotR was filmed and go on a Hobbiton Movie Set Tour.
if you were an animal, what would you be? A robin!
favorite food: My friend makes the best lasagna I’ve ever tasted. I can’t think of any other food I love as much as his lasagna...

Pakakatautchiigniq #1
Uvlaalluataq! Good morning!
Welcome to the first of many Pakakatautchiigniq or Mischief-Maker Mondays. The purpose of this and future Pakakatautchiigniq posts is to create system-agnostic monsters that incorporate elements of Indigenous and Inuit folklore, language, and mythology for fellow DMs or creators to bring to their stories and tables.
Aside from providing lore, these posts will also include a scenario overview and d10 tables for PLOT HOOKS, RUMORS, ENCOUNTERS, TREASURES, and NPCs for further context and flavor. Feel free to cannibalize as much or as little of these creations as possible.
The format, structure, and generally everything about these posts is subject to change as I figure out how best to present things in the future!
Edit: Originally, this post was scheduled to drop last night but I’ve switched blog sites. Future Pakakatautchiigniqs will drop every Monday from this point on!
AUKSALAQ THE THAW-BEAST
Monstrously gaunt. Whalebone tall. Dessicated by time but preserved by a glittering crust of bone-dry rime replete with runic sigils that walk and slither across its skin like larvae trapped between two panes of frosted glass. It wears many faces: grinning, frost-bitten masks imbued with a strange and treacherous beauty. When it speaks, its words fork and rattle in the rhythmic, singsong purr of the sorcerous dead. Long, six-fingered, and frail, its hands move along the invisible skin of the world with the sleek grace of a spider trembling the threads of its web.
It does not hunt. It toys. Luring villagers into its many, many lairs with stolen voices and promises that are warm to the ear but cold to the touch. Reshaping itself to meet the eye of the beholder. Shedding its skin like the pale, many-faced cicadas that flutter and scream in wintry heights of the Taimmagniq Mountains.
It is, at its phylacterial core, a child. Effortlessly cruel. Innocently vicious. Clever, but not ingenious.
ABILITIES
Steals the faces and voices of the dead.
Freezes, then melts all that it touches.
Travels between ice cellars and burial-mounds by slipping beneath the skin of the world.
Riddled with ancient diseases, once sealed away by time and ice. Infects by touch.
SCENARIO
Industry despoils the far north. Glaciers, giants, and beasts now live on the verge of extinction. The violent and ceaseless winds of change have reshaped the north, preempting a pandemic thaw that is unleashing the plagues and monstrosities once trapped or sealed beneath the permafrost. One village, Qalluvak, lies on the forefront of the thaw and is being terrorized by a now-awakened beast that once existed only in legend.
PLOT HOOKS 1d10
You were raised in Qalluvak but left for the soft summerlands to pursue fame, education, or glory. A relation, close or estranged, has been stolen by the Auksalaq. Their spirit calls out to you in your dreams, foretelling your return to Qalluvak.
You are a member of an expeditionary force sent to relieve the surviving members of the previous expedition to the village of Qalluvak.
You are a failed adventurer following your childhood dream of seeing the northernmost edge of the world before you die.
You succumbed to the cold during your travels and have been spirited to the village of Qalluvak by unknown means.
You attended a lecture by a tribal-scholar from the village of Qalluvak regarding the dangers of industry in the far north and have travelled to disprove their claims.
You are a monied entrepreneur saddled with outrageous debt. You seek to carve your name into rim of the world and turn an outrageous profit on its many ventures.
You are doomed monster hunter seeking to end your once illustrious career with one last hunt.
You are a hard-bitten vagrant, following rumors of simple villagers offering a chieftain’s ransom in exchange for the head of beast that most likely does not exist.
You are a penny dreadful author seeking new tales of the quixotic macabre and have spent the last of your royalties to tour the far north for inspiration.
You are a plague doctor doggedly following reports of strange and virulent illnesses blossoming in the thawing north. Your colleague has succumbed to one such plague while performing clinical trials in Qalluvak. You must settle his affairs and secure his research.
RUMORS 1d10
All the ice cellars in Qalluvak smell of rot but curiously none of the foodstuff stored in the cellars appear rotten.
The elders of Qalluvak believe the Auksalaq can only be killed with weapons hewn from ivory and dipped in whale oil.
Some say that the Auksalaq is not a monster, but a man. An outsider that ventured north to spirit away children for some dark, unknowable practice.
There is a children’s story about a childless widow that tamed the Auksalaq with a song. The tale was transcribed by a missionary, but the missionary went mad shortly thereafter and now lives as a bedlam trapper far north of Qalluvak.
Children whisper that the Auksalaq visits them in their dreams, promising them a future filled with laughter and games. It wears the face of their recently dead, but speaks with the voice of a child.
The local anatkuq ( shamans ) attests that the Auksalaq can be trapped in a circle drawn with blood and whale oil.
Village dogs have gone mad with fear do everything in their power to flee Qalluvak.
Despite the cold, all the snow that falls over Qalluvak melts away at nightfall. Outside of Qalluvak, however, snow drifts and gathers alarmingly quick.
An illness plagues Qalluvak. Mushrooms the color of rust and bone sprout on the hands and feet of those afflicted. They spread and multiply when removed, regenerating overnight.
There is a rumor that the Auksalaq fears its own reflection, but only when it is refracted in an ulu or skin-cutting knife.
ENCOUNTERS 1d10
The whalebone graveyard that lies on the outskirts of Qalluvak thaws and overflows with rot despite the midwinter cold. When searched, an abandoned ice cellar can be found beneath a whalebone shrine to Tammau, God of Lost Things. Inside lies the Auksalaq, despoiling a corpse with its loathsome touch.
A bed-ridden child afflicted with cancer of the brain, when questioned, reveals that the Auksalaq visits her at night while she dreams. At the stroke of midnight, the Auksalaq slithers out of the ice cellar beneath her house and slips into her room, wearing the face and shape of her dead aaka ( grandmother ).
A warm, noxious fog blankets the village of Qalluvak. The voices of the dead cry out in the pale dark. The villagers plug their ears with tundra cotton and slick their window frames and doors with a mixture of blood and whale oil. The Auksalaq moves through the fog. Waiting. Laughing.
The village longhouse is burning. The smell of blood and whale oil sours the cool night air. Inside, Pisugruk, a disgraced watchman has cornered the Auksalaq in the communal ice cellar beneath the longhouse. His hoarse, smoke-addled cries for vengeance and help tear through the village. If searched, the longhouse and ice cellar will reveal the half-melted corpse of Pisugruk and the Auksalaq will emerge, wearing Pisugruk’s smoke-singed face.
If all ice cellars in Qalluvak are collapsed, flooded, or sealed the entire village will be swallowed into a massive sink-hole that feeds directly into the labyrinthine lair of the Auksalaq. The lair is a maddening network of brachial passages that twist and wind deep beneath the earth. It is filled with noxious fog, luminous rot, and fungal, rime-encrusted corpse-orchards.
North of Qalluvak is a gun-fortress garrisoned by missionaries, mercenaries, and industrialists. Beneath the fortress lies an abandoned ossuary walled in by ice. The curse-etched bones of the Auksalaq’s mortal body are interred in a whalebone sarcophagus. If touched, the sarcophagus will melt away, forcing the Auksalaq to inhabit its body. To the peril, or relief, of those trapped within the ossuary.
A trail rot, blood, and snowmelt veers into the northern wilds. If followed, it leads to the malformed remnants of the Auksalaq’s latest victim. With their dying breath, they cry out that “the Auksalaq cometh”. The thaw-beast bursts from an embankment of snow, bringing with it a cloying, tepid mist.
A child wanders the treacherous mountain pass leading to Qalluvak. She speaks of the Auksalaq and its lair far beneath the earth. The thaw-beast comes for her in the dead of night, luring her outside of camp with the voice of her dead mother.
Missionaries have been vanishing on the road from Qalluvak to the gun-fortress north of the village. A detachment of mercenaries have encamped alongside the road to investigate the disappearances. If joined, the earth beneath the encampment will thaw and collapse in the night and the Auksalaq will rise out of the earth to kill the outlanders.
A horrible stench wafts up from beneath the local tavern. Beneath the tavern cistern lies an ancient ice cellar where the true owner of the tavern rots. The Auksalaq emerges, wearing the tavern owners face.
TREASURE 1D10
An ancient spear carved from the Spine of the Auksalaq. It melts all it touches.
The hollowed out Skull of the Auksalaq. It allows the wearer to reshape their face into a beguiling facsimile of someone they know that has died.
The Hide of the Auksalaq. Can be shaped into a cloak or layered over armor. Protects the wearer from the cold, natural or magical.
If eaten, the Heart of the Auksalaq, attached to its mummified ribcage by a fungal sac, grants the devourer the ability to summon a noxious mist that only they can see through.
The Tongue of the Auksalaq, when consumed, allows the devourer to speak in the voices of the dead. Their natural voice, however, is forever lost.
The Eyes of Auksalaq, if boiled in a mixture of whale oil and blood, create a poison that will cause any creature that comes into contact with it to freeze and then melt into a ruinous mess.
The curse-etched Bones of the Auksalaq, when affixed to armor, protects the wearer from the cold and necrotic trauma.
The Hand of the Auksalaq, if strung as an amulet, compels any Auksalaq encountered in the wild to answer three questions and perform one favor for the wearer. After the questions are answered and the favor is performed, however, the wild Auksalaq will return to its usual state of violent non-compliance.
Deep in the Auksalaq’s lair lies an ivory ritual knife. This knife cuts through the skin of the world and allows the wielder to travel between any ice cellars in the region.
Hidden in the abandoned ossuary where the Auksalaq’s mortal body lies, a time-worn doll gathers dust and rot. This doll, if stolen, causes the Auksalaq to obey the thief’s every command. If cut open, the doll will spill out a sordid collection of ancient baby teeth.
NPCS 1d10
Magia, a one-armed skinsewer and chieftess of Qalluvak. Her daughter was stolen by the Auksalaq.
Pisugruk, disgraced watchman that has turned heavily to the drink. His wife left him after he failed to slay the Auksalaq and avenge their stolen children.
Qimmiq, a retired adventurer and dogsledder that maintains the village kennel. She has gathered a few rumors about the Auksalaq together and is preparing to launch an investigation of her own.
Utqiaan, an overworked healer. Understaffed and trying to contain the recent outbreak of strange illnesses brought on by the presence of the Auksalaq.
Tavra, an eccentric, melancholic tavern-owner. Once known for his charm and hospitality, Tavra has been become strange and miserly as of late.
Saga, a tribal-scholar obsessed with bringing an end to the industrial boom in Qalluvak. Will soon be “silenced” by the mercenaries of the gun-fortress north of Qalluvak.
Brother Theone, an outlander missionary driven to madness and trapping. Lives alone outside of Qalluvak.
Billious Corpus, monied outlander industrialist and financier. Funded the construction of the gun-fortress and hires adventurers and mercenaries alike to garrison it with their lives.
Father Ignacious, outlander missionary and archpriest. Oversees all missionary work in the region and works hand-in-hand with Billious to “secure their theocratic investures” in the north.
Gibbet, the outlander leader of the company of the tattooed mercenaries and scoundrels known as the Hangmen that garrison the gun-fortress. Has a reputation for fits of violence and animal cunning.

Wow Power Leveling
Power leveling is the term used to describe the process of leveling a character as rapidly as possible with the least amount of play time. It can be used from any level up to level cap. Contrary to what many believe, efficient power leveling does not require endless hours of grinding. The best methods of power leveling involve doing many quests in an orderly fashion.
The goal of these guides is to help you Wow Power Leveling level a character, whether you're first on the server or not, to the level of your choice as quickly and efficiently as possible. At the same time, the quests will be ordered in such fashion to ensure you gain reputation with each of the three major factions on either the Alliance or Horde side.
Common methods of power leveling include doing only those quests which are most efficient in terms of experience over time, and analyzing the quests in a given zone so as to do them in the most efficient order possible. Remember, the idea of power leveling is speed and efficiency--you may wish to obtain an addon that will show you how much experience per hour you are gaining to test your techniques. Additionally, ensure your character's talent build is crafted for maximum endurance. You want as little downtime (walking, drinking, eating, crafting, typing, etc.) as possible.

With regard to professions, an example would be for a tailor to farm or purchase large quantities of cloth, then identify and repeat the cheapest tailoring recipes so as to maximize skill point gain compared to cost.
Levelonetwink A twink is a well geared level 19 (29, 39, etc.) that usually stays that current level for battlegrounds Twinking is distinct from power leveling. A twink is usually intended to remain at its current level for an extended period of time, thus providing some justification for the large investment into its gear. A character being power leveled is often equipped with inexpensive gear, since the player will be planning on outleveling it quickly.
Also note that power leveling is sometimes used to refer to paying someone else to level your character to cap as fast as possible (i.e. they power level for you); a distinction used by Blizzard is to refer to the paid leveling as "power leveling service." This behavior is against Blizzard's Terms of Service. Power leveling yourself, which this article covers, is perfectly acceptable.
Contents[show] Assumption Edit This is not your first character. Usually people learn the basics on their first character by trial and error and stumbling around. Since it's not your first character, you understand the basic elements of the game (like class, talents, tradeskills, etc). Generic tips Edit Learn how to use Keyboard Shortcuts. Clicking on toolbars is great for newbies to learn, but the fractions of seconds you save while using keyboard shortcuts will help you level much faster Learn how to play. Read a lot. For example, if you are a warrior, read the entire warrior wowwiki article. Most macros and addons usually aren't truly necessary until you start raiding, but some can help Max out your gear as much as you can afford. You should rarely have a piece of gear that is more than about 10 levels below you. Use a proven leveling spec that someone else created, or if you are making your own spec, understand that some talents are more pvp oriented (for example, stun resistance is very useful in PVP, not so much in PVE). Enchantments aren't necessary since you'll be upgrading your gear constantly. That said cheap enchants that help with your damage are always welcome. Usually it's best to avoid a lot of instance runs. It is too difficult to account for bad groups, and some instances are too far away with too few quests. Since the experience is very good, it's a good idea to clear nearby instances which have a lot of quests once (Gnomeregan, Deadmines for Alliance). Distant instances with few quests should be avoided (Deadmines for Horde). Low level instances can be cleared by paying or befriending a single high level character. However, since patch 3.3 a new Dungeon group finding system has been implemented, as well as a direct port to dungeons (when entering the group you get ported to the dungeon and back to the same location if you leave it) and thus the travel time to dungeons has been greatly reduced. This makes it a good idea to complete quests or grind while you wait for a group to become available. Specing healing or prot is fine if you are leveling with instances, but that is not considered power leveling. Usually spec for max DPS. One exception is Protection Pally which can slowly grind multiple mobs and level efficiently. Some classes can efficiently burn two or more mobs simultaneously (like warlocks and Priests with fear and DOTs, or prot Pallies) Always end your session in a capital city or inn, so that you remain rested. If you are a non-healing class, have a good supply of bandages through First Aid since bandaging is much faster (and cheaper) than eating. The first thing you should do when you arrive at an auction house is fill your four vacant bag slots with the largest bags you can afford Always turn on Auto-Loot in the Interface Options menu when starting a character. If you do not want to auto loot a specific target simply click Shift+Right Click. Always put a temporary buff on your weapon (sharpening stones and weightstones for melee classes; mana oil for hunters; wizard oil for casters). If you can afford it, always have one guardian and one battle elixir active. This gets really expensive really fast, so it's only for those with deep pockets or alts who can farm them. If you enjoy PVP, spend a few hours at level 29 in Arathi Basin and get 30 marks to buy a Talisman of Arathor (or Horde equivalent). This trinket will likely endure until you get Outland trinkets. The bubble will save you countless times for the Plan ahead. Purchase as many heirlooms as possible, starting with the pieces that give an XP boost (Helm, chest, pants, shoulders, cloak). If you want to try your luck at the Stranglethorn fishing competition you can win an heirloom ring that will give you an additional 5% XP from quests and monsters. Occasionally search the auction house for gear that is about 10 levels beyond you. This is especially true at around level 50, when you should start stockpiling level 57 Outland gear that will be a huge upgrade for you. Do something productive while flying like organizing your bags, reading about future talents, or organizing your quest log. Use a guide (free or paid) that will tell you the order to do quests efficiently. If you do not use a guide, then be mindful of the following additional tips: Mods like Carbonite and QuestHelper can significantly improve questing efficiency if you know how to use them. MOST quests can be completed alongside other quests. Look for "circles" of completion so that you are questing on the way out from town and on the way back. While it may be useful to collect an abundance of quests, don't try to complete them all in one circle. Future quests are often needed to complete new circles. It is a good idea to complete quests in zones with enemies 5 or so levels below you. This will decrease the difficulty of quests and the time it takes to complete them, while still giving you good experience for your level. If you have at least a couple of heirloom pieces of gear, focus on quests that are orange. As soon as all of the enemies in a zone are more than 5 levels below you, it is probably time to move to the next zone.

Oxford Stories, an online publication at OxfordStories.net, became a student news wire service this semester.
Launched in the fall of 2015 as a website where University of Mississippi journalism students could publish their work and share it on social media, Oxford Stories first teamed with The Oxford Eagle and HottyToddy.com, providing exclusive content for both publications. Student stories were reprinted in the newspaper and on the website, respectively.
This year, OxfordStories.net welcomed The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal as a partner. The Daily Journal also republished student stories in the newspaper.
News partners agreed to remain on board if the site was open so that any publication could republish any student stories from OxfordStories.net. That enabled OxfordStories.net to become a wire service, similar to the Associated Press, but for college journalism.
“Thanks to our news partners, we were able to create something unique with OxfordStories.net that, as far as I know, has not been done before with college journalism in the state,” said LaReeca Rucker, adjunct journalism instructor, and creator of the Oxford Stories classes and website. “It has been fun being part of the program’s evolution over the past two years.
“It would not have been possible without support and encouragement from the University of Mississippi’s Meek School of Journalism and New Media faculty; Ed Meek, who owns HottyToddy.com; Editors Stephanie Rebman and Rob Sigler, who agreed to allow us to move forward with the project at The Oxford Eagle; and Rod Guajardo, editor of The Northeast Mississippi  Daily Journal, who enthusiastically came on board in the fall.
“They have all helped make Oxford Stories successful, and they have been part of a hands-on, real world education experience training the next generation of journalists. Our main goal cooperatively is to help students get their work published.”
Oxford Stories also evolved by adding more reporters and gaining more page views. The first semester ended with approximately 5,000 page views. The second year (2015) ended with 48,720.
Last semester, four classes of Journalism 102 students became student reporters for OxfordStories.net. With almost 80 reporters filing stories, Oxford Stories was the largest newsroom in the state while school was in session.
The goal for last semester was to reach 90,000 page views. So far, the site has gained 89,846 unique views and counting since it began, and the students’ final stories of the semester are currently being posted to the site and on social media.
“With a background in writing, photography, page design, web design and social media, I have done a little of everything in the past 20 years that I have worked as a journalist,” Rucker said. “In order to build, maintain and edit a functioning multimedia website run by only one person, all of those skills have to come together.
“It’s not easy, and it can be time-consuming, but it has been a wonderful experience guiding students to create content and working so smoothly and symbiotically with our news partners. I hope that everyone who has been a part of Oxford Stories feels like they were part of something special.”
Rucker designed classes around the website concept because she wanted students to gain real world journalism experience.
“I didn’t want the content that students were producing to go unnoticed, especially when some of the stories were very well written and important,” She said. “Creating an online publication for students to showcase their work was a way for them to get their stories out there and learn about the power of social media, while taking the content they produce more seriously.
LaReeca Rucker
“Their name is on every story published, and in an Internet and new media age, their stories have almost as much power to travel the globe as a story written by a large daily newspaper.”
Oxford Stories reporters got to see the power of social media in action this semester. Oxford Stories reporter Anne Merrill Jones wrote a story about twin Ole Miss students who own their own clothing business. The story was viewed more than 12,000 times, a record-breaking statistic for the OxfordStories.net site.
“That number is larger than the population of some small towns in Mississippi,” Rucker said.
Merrill was honored as the 2016 Social Media Reporter of the Year during the traditional Oxford Stories award ceremony at the end of the semester.
Not every student story is published online. Only the best stories with all of the required elements are posted to the site, an incentive to do good work. Students are also asked to make revisions to their work if they want them to run.
“It’s also designed to be fun,” Rucker said. “Students are part of a staff, and teamwork is encouraged.”
Using the website is a way for students to easily turn in their work, and it encourages them to stick to deadlines, because the website records the time and date the stories are entered into the system.
“Students are taught the basics of WordPress so that they may submit their work,” she said, “and since WordPress is a popular blogging and website tool, they learn how to work with multimedia using a content management system.”
During the fall semester, students wrote a variety of stories, including one about Properly Tied, a University of Mississippi student’s clothing line that is sold in 285 stores nationwide. They wrote about student activists, study abroad safety, sexual assault and violence prevention, drunk driving and antibiotic resistance.
Oxford Stories reporters also wrote about the sex offender registry, abortion, racism, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, mental health advocacy, the underfunded Mississippi chief medical examiner’s office, endometriosis, diabetes and numerous stories about musicians, authors and writers.
Reporters also worked on four series of stories throughout the semester. They included parking issues, the presidential election, area cost of living, and affordable housing issues.
“If I were asked to envision a future for the site, I could see Oxford Stories as a student wire service that not only works with my class, but other UM classes, with the goal of getting more student stories published,” Rucker said.
“We were asked to publish student work from one UM integrated marketing communications class this semester, and it is now on our site, but it’s important to take things one step at a time, and I’m proud of the work students have done thus far.”
Students who won top awards during the semester include Skyler Crane, Gracie Snyder, Madison Hyatt, Torry Rees, Natalie Beth Seales, Ashley Wallace and Anne Merrill Jones.

honestly where in the world did you get the house hunters idea
In all honesty, between a flu induced haze and a bit too much sangria the other night and some added feels... It just kind of happened off a dumb comment I made on someone's post. It is just nice that I am in the company of people who share my kind of crazy so it was accepted as a normal response.
