Why Does My Hotel Need EV Charging Stations?
In a world that is increasingly plugged-in, powered-on and always battery-checking, charging accessories and other items is a constant thought in the back of most consumer’s minds. A growing portion of the consumer market, especially in California, is now not only attempting to keep their phones charged while on the road, but perhaps more importantly, trying to make sure they are able to get back home with a charged vehicle. Many travelers are trading in gas-station searching for EV charging stations and finding the road a bit less traveled.
Offering EV charging at your hotel is a great move for several reasons. The energy-efficient market is growing and keeping up with travelers’ needs pay off now with a wider clientele base for you, and later by helping lessen your hotel’s environmental impact as well as the impact of your clients as they travel. Let’s look at some of the leading reasons your hotel should install EV charging stations.
1. Get Noticed by EV Clients
All those new energy efficient car owners, who will be looking for hotels on their upcoming work trip or family vacation, will only want to stay at a hotel that offers the energy source their car needs to get them to their next destination. Just as someone wouldn’t want to stay in a place where they couldn’t plug in their iPhone overnight, why would they stay somewhere that couldn’t accommodate their transportational needs?
2. Gain a New Consumer Market
With the increasing prevalence of energy efficient vehicles, your hotel will see primarily three kinds of clients. Those who will use a traditional, gas-powered vehicle to arrive at your doorstep, those with a hybrid vehicle and those with a plug-in only vehicle. The third category, currently racing upward in California and more slowly in other regions, will be completely inaccessible to you as paying clients if your hotel does not offer EV charging.
3. Put Your Hotel in a New Category
Offering EV charging to your clients will automatically align you with many of the top national hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt Regency who have already become EV friendly. As mentioned in the first point of this article, most EV owners are only looking to stay in hotels that will accommodate their car’s charging needs. Offering this option will put your hotel in front of clients who will only search for hotels with car charging stations.
4. Support the Movement
The Federal government, as well as most US States and regions already offer many tax-breaks and incentives to car owners looking to buy a new energy-efficient vehicle. Support the movement that is helping create cleaner air and less waste around the world and support the individuals who are doing their part in their buying decisions to do the same.
