Maple Twig Medicinals exists to uphold the importance of community wisdom and the right for communities to have agency over their own health and environment, connecting to plants and learning alongside others to care for the world around us and ourselves, through mutuality and relationship.   . COVID-19 has greatly impacted my business this year.  Usually retail nurseries start buying plants in February, but I have not gotten any orders yet this year (previously sold at 5 PDX-local nurseries, with a 6th site set up for this year).  From my conversations with my local retail nurseries, they are struggling financially to support customers who have increased interest in community food security while protecting their staff.   By this time last year I had made over $700 wholesale, and much more during the months of April and May. . I lost two sales for April (and potentially more because I usually jump on sales this time of year), the Wapato Island Spring Plant Sale and Hortlandia, which is a large trade show at the Expo Center by the Hardy Plant Society.  This has resulted in thousands of dollars in losses.  I have switched to doing direct sales and deliveries in the PDX-metro area, and this is where I could use your help! . Any amount you donate will directly go to supplying FREE medicinal plants to local folks, with priority given to BIPOC and undocumented folks firstly, and low-income folks secondly.   . You can both support me as a small business owner to move plant stock and get herbal medicine safely to individuals that otherwise may not have been able to afford it and who are experiencing disproportionate financial impact from COVID-19. .
