Real Actual Wizard Stories.
I grew up in a painfully backward, Christian home. One made up of the people that use religion as a panacea to cleanse the heart and soul weekly of the willfully petty, malicious, negligent, or just downright mean choices they would make the week before. The kind of 'saved' individuals that find karmic clemency in the idea of being 'washed in the blood'.
Naturally, I chose atheism at the impressionable age of 12 while spending the week at church camp. Perhaps this might be of interest to some, but mostly this prefaces what follows with some context.
At the age of (roughly) 25, I met 'god'. The first Cause. The demiurge. That which is the whole and the parts.
Logic and pattern recognition is something that I had cultivated up to this point to the exclusion of attachment and emotional vulnerability. I had been taken advantage of by both those with the responsibility of my care and those in whom I had placed trust. Again, for context.
I came about the realization that God must be real through logic, reason, and pattern recognition; by seeing the threads of a weave that constituted a tapestry made of all things. It was all. It was enormous. It was me, also. Upon this, for lack of a better term, 'eureka moment', I stomped in a bemused frustration to the front porch of the trailer homein which i lived, looked to the sky and the world at large and shouted, "really?!" before shaking my head and returning inside. The breadth of what I had just realized was far too enormous to process all in one go. It was much like trying to squeeze a watermelon into a thimble.
Later, once I had processed for a while this brand new information, I proceeded logically to the next step: testing the parameters of this information. I spoke. Said hi. Asked questions. Poked some metaphysical things.
To my eternal astonishment, the universe responded in spectacular fashion by saying (paraphrased because the words of the universe are sometimes hard to parse as it communicates through all things at all times), "Hey, dude. I love you. Chill a bit. It's a fucking party. Watch me dance! Think you could dance with me? I love you, and think you're pretty cool. Also, have you explored your sexuality? I think you're repressing some things. Did I mention that I love you? Your daughter loves you too. Did you know magic is real? Watch this shit. It's so fucking cool. I love you!"
More things happened, and I'll tell the stories later. Suffice it to say that I've been a Wizard ever since. I channel the energies that flow through the universe outside of common perception. Lies flee from my presence. My eyes contain the death of illusion and the mirror you fear. I am a Wizard.
