i also come back with a curious sel question 🤓 a more technical writing one but, what is your anchor point to writing a character like satoru or suguru? what part of them do you like exploring and what quality of theirs stays the same to you across any universe you put them in? 🥺

I LOVE CURIOUS SEL QUESTIONS MORE THAN ANYTHING BTW….. this one was tough tho </3 i feel like there are so many sides to stsg as characters…. and i usually end up focusing on one particular aspect depending on which fic i’m writing :0 obv the type of au also affects a lot!! like how open they are ….. both of them are just soso closed off so if i want to write them being vulnerable it kinda has to be an established relationship 😭 and so on!!!

but !!! when it comes to what quality of theirs stays the same no matter the au …… hmmmm. hmhm. aside from their struggle to open up (which i think stays even in en established relationship!!), i’d probably go with…. softness for suguru, and maturity for satoru :3

when it comes to sugu i really do just think he’s such a softie :((( he has a bleeding heart and i feel like no matter what suguru i’m writing for, he’s bound to have that kind of tenderness towards the people he cherishes (even cult leader geto!! maybe even especially him)… so that’s something that always stays the same. even in scenarios where he’s excessively cruel there’s some kind of tenderness underneath. and i feel like that take is also supported by the manga, yk?? no matter the stage of his life, there’s always some kind of softness to be found (him buying haibara a drink even while he’s spiralling, raising nanamimi with evident care, laughing softly and tearing up when satoru’s about to kill him)…. i just love him T_T

but enough abt sugu!! sel i trust you to understand what i mean when i say maturity for someone as childish as satoru bc that’s also something that i see so clearly in how you write him!! that i love!!! he acts childish and silly and it’s not an act or anything, but there’s always that maturity underneath. i feel like sometimes it’s easy to forget but like…. satoru is just. so stable? he’s strong and dependable and as much as he struggles with his own emotions i think he’s very keen when it comes to others. he has the kind of maturity that’s easy to miss but rises to the surface when it’s needed…. like the moment things go south. there’s just smth very reassuring abt his presence!! :’3 and even when i write him more sillier or whinier i keep that in mind…. i also think that’s like. his biggest charm point. he takes care of you!!!
