St. Clement's Catholic Church, Haymarsh, ND by Arielle Seibold-Galston Via Flickr: Until a short while ago, I had no idea that Haymarsh even existed. In all my passes over the map on google earth, somehow I missed it. Until one day...I didn't. It's so small it doesn't look like much of anything. But when you drive the gravel roads (which aren't in the best condition) around all the curves and over the hills and you reach Haymarsh (which is just really a church and a school) you'll wonder why you didn't know about it sooner. It's such a pretty spot! And so remote. But it really was something once. The townsite was founded in 1890, the church in 1887 (but it burned to the ground twice). The current church was built in 1937, so it's an old structure! I don't think the town ever had much more than the church and school and a few houses/farms. I'm not sure when the school closed, but the church stopped having weekly services in 1992. So it's been awhile. You can read a more detailed history of the church at the link below, and I recommend it! It has an interesting history: stannshebron.sharepoint.com/Pages/StClements.aspx You can see semi-recent interior photos of the church at this link: spesvidere.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/photographing-north-d...
