Tropical cake from @cimakethings Happy Weekend! Today is the #restingbeachfacecollab hosted by the fun and funky bakers @bossbabebakes.ca and @sugarwillowcakes 💁‍♀️💁‍♀️ . . . . . The object of today was to introduce the face behind the bakes and post a bake that represents us. I went with this cake for multiple reasons. First, I made it for myself for Mothers Day. How often do we get to eat our own cakes?? Second, this represents me, because I love trying new things. This cake was my 1st time using icing sheets (@sugarartcanada 😘), 1st time using noodles on a cake (the hibiscus center), and 1st time piping a hibiscus flower. This hibiscus cake was 😋 it’s blue because hibiscus contains Anthocyanin, a chemical compound that gives fruits their color. It turned blue when I added the baking soda which altered the ph balance of the cake mix. It came out well, the crusty sugar on top was divine. I’ll do it again just like this I love the color. I need suggestions for all natural red food coloring that’s not beets, beet powder or pomegranate juice.
