Small Tiny Sacricore Playlist
Just so I can get across what the sacricore vibes are music-wise
Doesn't have to be by queer artists but a real A+ if it is
genre: nu metal, alt metal, metallic hardcore, hardcore punk, crustpunk (may not be completely right since I struggle to identify music categories... @ metal fans don't kill me for categorizing this shit wrong)
Black Wedding by In This Moment ft. Rob Halford
A nun and a priest singing together about the satanic wedding they're planning. And what's great is, the part of the priest is sung by Rob Halford - the man who introduced the gay leather scene into the unfortunately homophobic metal world.
Maria Brink has also made statements about her sexuality and women, "Love is love. If I feel in love with a women I would proudly stand by her side. All love is sacred." and also has two mothers.
I heard the bells and I just knew
An angel once, now a ghost of you
Deliver me from my own desires
From my ring of fire (the ring of fire)
^^ probably my favorite part, gives me chills
genre: nu metal (?)
I'd also reccomend: Oh Lord, Whore, Adrenalize, and Sex Metal Barbie
Gutter Gods by Cult Leader
Spotify introduced me to this band by suggesting Indoctrinator's Deathbed and I just recently started listening to more of their songs.
This one's short and sweet with an all-to-familiar story. Being a child and taught to chase heaven & purity at a young age and then growing up to realize that the pain, fear, and sense of abandonment you felt as a child didn't make you closer to god at all.
The purest love is the ugliest lie
He doesn't want you, he never did
We don't need him, we never did
genre: crust punk
I'd also recommend: Indoctrinator's Deathbed, Useless Animal, Walking Wasteland
Otherworldly by Ithaca
The lead singer is an arabian woman named Djamila Azzouz who makes a point to fight against gatekeeping and bigotry in the metal community and has made a point to "holding bands with women and trans/non-binary people to the same standard as all-male bands." - source
More interviews about Djamila's fight for equality in the metal community - source source
Desperation has its arms around me
I'm so sorry nothing is as it seems
Desperation has us on our knees
I swore I'd never pray but in times like these
I'm otherworldly
I absolutely LOVE the vocals! So deep & growly, absolutely amazing! The lead singer has talked about each song coming from her own experiences and she doesn't care much how other people portray them. So, although the original meaning may not be about screaming at god - I feel nice knowing the creators don't care if I portray it like that! :D
genres: hardcore, chaotic hardcore
Also reccomend: New Covenant, Gilt, Impulse Crush, and Hold Fast Hope
Kill The Creator by Code Orange
Okay so I love Code Orange, so this is really just me gushing over them.
This song is apparently against bands with the "Fake Rockstar Mentality", though there hasn't been a lot released about the meaning behind the specific lyrics. I for real interpreted this as a song as a critique on christianity & how it influences the government's major choices.
But either way, I vibe with it. Criticizing corporate punk is a vibe.
The death of your bully mentality
The death of your mentor hypocrisy
The death of your political strategy
Thinners of the herd
You have nothing left for this world
It's time to shed your skin
The broken selfish scum within
Now you pay for all you did
Gun to head
Kill the creator
genre: industrial hardcore, hardcore punk
I would also reccomend: I Am King, My World, Real, In Fear
____
Was really nervous posting this but atleast it's not Devil Town by CaveTown & 13 Mother Mother songs (I love both bands I'm just goofin' about how these seem to be in every playlist)
