"(Y/n) what are you doing in there? Come on, I have to get ready for work." Cora's rather scratchy and naturally high-toned voice cut through the static buzzing in (Y/n)'s ears like a bee trapped inside her head. The more she tried to focus on Cora's irritating voice and the sounds she could hear, she realised she could hear her sister's foot impatiently tapping against the floor outside the bathroom. And Cora's shadow could just about be seen through the small gap between the door and the carpet.
(Y/n) wished her sister would go away. It was hard enough being in the bathroom for any reason when you knew someone was waiting right outside the door silently telling you to hurry up. But with Cora right there it made being sick a lot harder for (Y/n) because she couldn't smother the wretching sounds she made when she threw up.
If her sister heard her being sick she wouldn't be all that sympathetic but she would be annoyed and tell their parents and (Y/n) didn't need that. She didn't need anyone suspecting something was wrong or that she was ill because her mother had already commented on how tired and pale she seemed for the past few days.
Tipping her head down, (Y/n) rested her face against the rim of the toilet that was soothingly cold against her burning hot skin. She knew if she wasn't careful she could fall asleep right here like this but she had to get up.
Today was a big day.
Today (Y/n) and Ben were going for their twelve week scan- to their first scan, and the thought already made (Y/n)'s stomach churn in the wrong way.
She wanted to go to the scan, (Y/n) was desperate to see their baby on the screen to prove to herself that this was real and this was happening, but the thought wasn't settling as well in her head as it was in her heart. She knew that this scan was only going to cement things and prove that she was going to have to tell her family about Ben very soon. She couldn't keep him her secret for much longer and that hurt, for almost half a year Ben had been her little secret, he had been hers and only hers.
Now with the baby, (Y/n) was going to have to come clean that she had a boyfriend- no, a fiance now and she was pregnant and that was something no one in her family was going to take very well.
Her parents would throw a fit, Cora wouldn't he pleased that she wasn't going to be the first one to get married or have kids and Joe wouldn't be happy and when he knew it was Ben he was going to hit the roof.
Just the thought of Joe's reaction made (Y/n) sit up on her knees straighter and lean over the toilet as the last drop of water she had consumed was released into the toilet as quietly as she could manage. Eating was becoming a rather big struggle right now due to morning sickness but (Y/n) was beginning to scare herself because she realised the more she panicked, the more she threw up and the less she ate. Her anxiety was worsening her morning sickness and when she was at home and sometimes even when she was with Ben, she couldn't stop herself from worrying.
When she was at home she feared someone was going to find out about Ben or the baby and when she was with Ben she couldn't stop herself from thinking about having to tell her family the truth.
"(Y/n) I'm going to be late!"
Cora's loud voice made (Y/n) shudder and seemed to kick-start her brain into action.
With a deep breath, (Y/n) used the toilet as leverage to push herself onto shaking legs and move over to cling to the sink by the door. She swirled some mouthwash and spat into the sink a few times, splashing her face with water before trying to look calm and collected. The moment she unlocked the door Cora was eyeing her suspiciously as she hurried into the bathroom before (Y/n) had chance to step out.
"S-sorry, what time is it?"
"Quarter past ten and I have to be at work at quarter-to." Cora gave her sister one last concerned yet irritated look before she shut the door to signal that she had wasted enough time already.
A shiver ran down (Y/n)'s spine when she realised that she had been sat on the bathroom floor for a good half an hour throwing up when she thought it had been fifteen minutes at the most. She had to go and meet Ben near the church and head down to the hospital because their appointment was at eleven.
(Y/n) made her way downstairs and almost stumbled down the hall to get to the kitchen at the back of the house. Once there, she grabbed herself a bottle of juice out the fridge that she had bought yesterday and took an apple from the counter that she would put in her bag in case her appetite came back later. She had to get going, there was no time for breakfast, not that she would have even bothered trying to eat any anyway with how unsettled her stomach felt right now.
"Where are you going, you haven't had breakfast?" Linda's voice caused (Y/n) to stop in her tracks just as she walked out of the kitchen and into the hallway.
Her head slowly turned to the right to look at her mother who was stood in the doorway to the dining room with her hands on her hips and a confused yet annoyed expression on her face that usually made (Y/n) cave in and listen to whatever she said. But not today. (Y/n) was busy, anxious and uneasy, she had to go and be with Ben to try and calm down and get on with the day.
After the scan she and Ben were heading over to the club for work and (Y/n) was at work until seven tonight which would thankfully keep her mind from everything. As soon as the scan was over and they were at work (Y/n) would feel calm, the club was oddly calming to (Y/n), it was more of a sanctuary than the church was. The club didn't make her question her thoughts or beliefs or give her questions no one could answer. The club was where Ben was, it was where she was happy to work and do work that was important and fulfilling and around people she was slowly feeling at ease around and able to call friends, even if she was the only girl there.
She wanted to be away from home.
"I'm gonna be late for work, I have to go catch the bus." (Y/n)'s lips curved into a sorry smile before she continued down the hall to stuff her phone, drink and the apple into her bag and put on her shoes. She really didn't have the time to stop and chat even if she wanted to, she wasn't really lying to her parents this time.
"(Y/n) we're going to have to have a talk about this, you're disappearing almost every day and not just for work and most days you're not coming home all night. This can't continue."
It was her father's voice this time that brought her to a standstill just as her hand was reaching out for the front door. Her body froze and her head slowly turned so she could look back over her shoulder when her father bypassed Linda and walked down the hall to get to (Y/n). She was surprised it had taken them this long to get fed up with how little time she was now spending at home and how she was always out, especially at night. She thought they would have tried to ground her or force her to stay home a lot sooner than this.
"I finish work at seven, I'll be home tonight." (Y/n) gave them no more time to quarrel with her before she flung herself out the door and tried to walk steadily down the street. Her head felt like it was pounding and it took her a few moments before she was walking properly and steadily rather than wobbling on uncoordinated feet.
When (Y/n) reached the path in front of the church her hand reached out and curled around the metal gate protecting the religious beacon. she used the gate to steady herself and stay upright but the further she walked and the more she kept glancing to look over at the church on her left, the more she could feel herself breaking.
Why would God make her life and her relationship with her family so strained when everyone in her family believed in him and were his followers? Her father had devoted his life to the church and to God and this was how he repaid him? By making him and his wife so strict in bringing up their children and by making (Y/n)'s happiness conflict the interests and values of her family.
The longer (Y/n) was with Ben, the more she realised how unfair her religion was making her life and the lives of others. It was like Ben was washing away her faith and she didn't know if that was really a bad thing or not when Ben made her happy but it was her religion that didn't allow it.
A shuddering breath escaped (Y/n)'s lips as she slowly lowered herself down to her knees and manoeuvred so she was sitting on the pavement, leaning up against the gates. She didn't care if she was still within sight of her home or her neighbours or if anyone could see her and wondered what she was doing. She just needed a moment to gather herself. (Y/n) leaned her head down to press her face in her hands as she brought her knees up to her stomach, feeling each breath she took pushing through her fingers in an oddly soothing kind of way, even though her hands were beginning to shake.
Confusion and slight worry pooled in Ben's stomach when his eyes set on (Y/n) and he watched her stop walking and slowly move to sit down on the floor next to the church gates. It was as if she was trying to walk past the church and not go inside but it was calling out to her.
Ben stuffed his lime green lighter into his coat pocket and placed the newly lit cigarette between his lips before he walked away from the car he was leaning against and headed down the street to where (Y/n) was. He didn't know what she was doing, she could be just gathering herself and having a moment to think, she could be upset and unsure of what to do, she could be ill or she could just be having some kind of quarrel with her faith. Whatever it was, Ben wanted to go and make sure she was okay.
When he reached her, Ben crouched down in front of her, leaning his weight onto the toes of his shoes as he flicked some ash off his cigarette before placing it carefully behind his ear so it was out the way. He didn't want it in his mouth or between his fingers in case he got too close to (Y/n) and caught her with it.
"Baby, what are we doing down here?" Ben gently rested his hands on (Y/n)'s elbows as he spoke but it was clear his voice and his words didn't register or link to his hands because (Y/n)'s head snapped up out of her hands and her arms flailed about. Her hand came close to hitting him before she realised who it was holding onto her, she hadn't been expecting Ben or anybody else to approach her.
(Y/n) closed her eyes for a second, moving her hand to rub at her temple before she moved her hands to hold onto Ben's arms as a small smile formed on her lips.
"Everything okay?" The way Ben grinned at her made her heart beat faster in her chest and send butterflies running through her system which made her feel much better than she did seconds ago.
"Just needed a minute, I'm good now."
(Y/n)'s head automatically tilted to the side like she was trying to get a better angle of Ben as she watched him with intrigue and anticipation. Something about the way Ben smoked always caught (Y/n)'s attention and she wasn't quite sure why. There was something different and attractive about the way he held his cigarettes and how he bit them so he could speak perfectly around them without any slurred speech.
She watched Ben take the cigarette from behind his ear where it really shouldn't be when it was already lit. He flicked the ash onto the floor before pressing the end between his lips and biting it with his teeth to make sure it didn't fall. His blushing vermilion lips grinned in a darkening look that always came off as predatory but never seemed to scare (Y/n). The cigarette tilted up towards his nose when he parted his lips to breathe out the swirl of grey smoke at the same time as he held his hands out for (Y/n) to take.
When her palms were resting safely in his own, Ben stood up and gently pulled (Y/n) up with him. He kept her hand enveloped in his own as they slowly started walking towards the car.
(Y/n) leaned her head on Ben's arm, absentmindedly smiling when the coarse material of his overcoat prickled against her skin. The coat was one (Y/n) was now used to seeing Ben wearing in the cold weather and it was one she loved to see on him. It was a rough fibre material that went down to about his knees and had five buttons down the front to do up and the collar could be pulled up and just barely covered part of his ears. The coat set off Ben's on-edge look and the unsettled, dark character he oozed but it was a look that (Y/n) loved.
When they reached the car, Ben stubbed the cigarette beneath his shoe and the edge of the pavement before he turned to (Y/n).
"Are you ready?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Closing the red book set on the desk in front of her, (Y/n) tipped her head back and closed her eyes to try and relieve the headache forming behind her eyes. She was on finance books today, making sure all the money was accurate and no unwanted or unreasonable spendings had taken place. (Y/n) liked doing the books, it made her feel important and it was time consuming and detailed and she could also do the wages too because everyone was cash in hand here.
But the headache behind her eyes was making it harder and harder to read the books properly without mistaking the letters and numbers. It was almost seven o'clock anyway so it was almost time to go home. The club shut for business at seven and only a few workers hung back if they had the rather dodgy business they had to sort out.
With a sigh, (Y/n) opened her eyes and glanced over to the clock on the wall, feeling her heart picking up speed when she realised she would be at home in less than half an hour. She didn't want to go home. (Y/n) didn't want to go and argue with her parents about how little time she was at home recently and she didn't want to go home and have to worry about them finding out about the baby or how she was eventually going to tell them.
As the worries started floating around in her head, (Y/n) looked down to the ring settled on the wedding ring finger. Ben had gotten her an engagement ring on Thursday that was a perfect fit and it was weird for (Y/n) to have a ring that she wore all the time now when she never used to. She wore the ring to work, at home, she slept in it and showered with it on and it felt amazing.
Every time she looked at the ring it made her feel different, it made her feel grown up and her own person and it made her giddy because she was going to be married soon. The only problem was that when (Y/n) did go home, she had to move the ring from her left hand to her right hand so no one caught it and her lies would be exposed.
Looking at the ring made (Y/n)'s hand move down to hover lightly over her stomach that was unchanged except for the slightest curve right at the bottom of her abdomen and it was unnoticeable except to her scrutinising eyes. They went to their scan this morning and it had gone well, no problems, nothing indicating that there was any worries or anomalies, the baby was perfectly fine and healthy and hearing the heartbeat made this now feel real for (Y/n).
(Y/n) was relieved she wasn't showing yet even though she knew once she got a bump everything would feel real and set in stone. Right now it was easy to hide the pregnancy and that was how (Y/n) needed it to stay, just for a little while longer.
"Are you almost ready to go home, doll?" Ben's words broke (Y/n) out of her trance and she looked up to find him leaning over her with his hands on the desk, a smile on his face as he watched her become unstuck from her thoughts.
When (Y/n) hummed and nodded, Ben took the finance books and the few notes she'd made and moved to put them in the cabinet before locking it safely. (Y/n) took Ben's hand when he walked back over to her and she followed him out of the office and down the corridor, the car park was round the back so they always came in and left through the back door.
(Y/n) could feel her headache becoming worse when they got in the car and she knew she was that much closer to going home. But she had to talk to her parents, she had to try and keep the peace with them for a little while longer and she couldn't stay with Ben every night and not tell her parents where she was and worry them like this. But she also knew that sooner or later they were going to have to be told the truth and if she married Ben, the chances were that she was going to move in with him too.
She leaned her head against the window and tried closing her eyes to see if it would help but it wasn't doing very much.
Even when Ben reached across and took her hand when they were on the road, it only helped so much because (Y/n) knew the moment she got out of the car, Ben's touch would be gone and she would be put back into a state of anxiety and stress. She knew that her uneasy feeling was made worse by how little she had eaten today. She'd managed to eat the apple she took with her after the scan and she had half a sandwich for lunch at one o'clock but that was it, anything else she thought or tried to eat made her feel sick.
"Doll, are you okay? You don't look like your with me tonight." Ben turned his head to sneak a glance over at (Y/n) but she looked like she was so far away in her mind that he could barely see her anymore. She was looking out of the window like he was taking her somewhere she didn't want to go like he was driving her to prison and she was quiet too.
"I'm fine, just thinking... I don't want to have to tell my parents about the baby." (Y/n) tangled one hand in her hair as her other hand moved to smooth over her unchanged stomach. She was not looking forward to that conversation when it eventually came about, it was the one thing that scared her more than anything else.
"I'd love to say you don't have to tell them but I think that would be worse. Will they really be mad about it, they won't be the least bit happy at getting a grand-kid?"
Ben knew from what (Y/n) had said that her getting pregnant wasn't going to go down well with her parents and he could see why. She was only just nineteen and she wasn't married yet, they saw her as a little girl and Ben was a bit older than her. It wasn't ideal for them or their morals but Ben would have thought they might be a little bit easier on (Y/n) because she was happy and they would be having their first grandchild.
When (Y/n) scoffed lightly at his words Ben turned his head to look at her, seeing her lips curved into a sad and rather upset kind of smile.
"My parents were married a year before having Joe and we'll be lucky if no one notices I'm pregnant when we get married, that's like breaking a law to them. My dad had high hopes for me, you know? He wanted me to help out at church and have his level of faith and get a respectable job and husband."
"What, I'm not respectable enough for you?"
(Y/n) was thankful Ben was only joking because she wouldn't have known what to say to that. (Y/n) knew her words made her sound snobbish and crude and uncaring but that wasn't what she meant. Her parents had high hopes and (Y/n)'s happiness didn't come into that because what made her happy wouldn't make them happy.
"Marrying a criminal when my brother's an officer isn't going to sit well with them. Sometimes I wish they weren't my family..."
It was hard for (Y/n) to think like that or to say that but it couldn't be helped. When her family didn't value her happiness like they should and when her life had never truly been her own until Ben walked into it, (Y/n) had the right to feel resentful towards them. If Joe wasn't a police officer, if her father wasn't the reverend and if her mother wasn't so snobbish and high achieving and controlling then maybe (Y/n)'s choices and happiness would count for more and they would be more understanding.
(Y/n) didn't want to tell them about Ben or the baby, she wanted to continue sneaking around because it was so much easier than becoming severed from her family like a lost connection. She was never going to be fully accepted back into her family's arms when they found out and Ben was the closest person to her in her family and he was going to become the most distant when he found out how she had betrayed him.
Joe was going to hate her for this.
(Y/n) didn't realise tears were falling from her eyes until they started to blur her vision and she could feel her hands subtally trembling.
"C-can you pull over?" Her hand moved from being knotted in her hair to pressing over her mouth when she felt like she was going to be sick. The nerves in her stomach were becoming tangled up from the worries in her head and the car was making it worse. When (Y/n) glanced out the window and saw she was less than five minutes from home she could feel the bile rising in the back of her throat.
"What? We're nearly at the church I'll drop you there like always." Ben turned his head to look at her, wondering why she wanted him to stop here when he could just take her to the usual spot he dropped her off at.
"I f-feel sick."
Realisation dawned on Ben and he nodded but he didn't even turn off the engine before (Y/n) was out of the car, hunched over the grass on the other side of the pavement. Ben quickly hopped out of the car and headed over to (Y/n), frowning when he watched her throw up onto the grass but his eyes narrowed when he realised she wasn't really being sick, she was throwing up whatever drink she had had earlier which meant she most likely hadn't eaten for quite a while.
"Doll, when was the last time you ate something today?" There was a certain tone and edge to Ben's voice that contrasted to his actions when his left hand was resting gently on (Y/n)'s back and his other hand held out a piece of gum for her to take.
When she felt like she'd finished, (Y/n) slowly straightened up, keeping her arms wrapped around her churning stomach as she turned her head to look up at Ben who was looking down at her with raised brows and darkened eyes.
"I had that apple a-and... about three bites of a sandwich later on." (Y/n) rubbed at her tired eyes as she looked away from Ben. She couldn't lie to him, it wouldn't do any good and he could tell when anyone was lying to him and when people lied he didn't take it very well. (Y/n) felt his hand tensing against her back and the sigh that passed through his lips was almost a growl and it made her shiver.
"Fuck, you can't do that doll you have to eat. Dry heaving and throwing up water is only gonna make you feel worse and you'll make yourself ill, trust me. Alright, get in the car."
"I can walk from here-"
"Get in." Ben was already climbing in the car as he spoke and his tone told (Y/n) not to disagree with him on this so she stayed quiet and got back into the car. She was five minutes from home, she could walk down the street and reach the church in about two minutes, there was no point for Ben to drive her to their usual spot when she could just walk there.
"Ben, w-where are we going?" (Y/n) turned her head and looked out of the window when Ben turned the car around and started to head down a different road. This wasn't the way to (Y/n)'s home, he was going in the completely opposite direction.
"Do you think I don't know that you've been throwing up because you're scared?" His words were oddly calm and understanding compared to how his tone had been just seconds ago. "I'm not taking you home so you can stress yourself out or have a panic attack, you're coming home with me." Ben had seen how bad (Y/n)'s morning sickness was and when he picked her up for the past few days for work he knew she had been sick and she looked unwell. He wasn't blind, he knew she was getting anxious and that was making her feel worse.
Ben couldn't drop (Y/n) off at home when she had just been sick out of worry and when he knew she was only going to feel worse once she was home where her family would most likely start an argument and stress her out. It was better all round if she just came home with him because she wouldn't be as panicked with him and there was nothing at his place to stress her out.
"But I said I'd be home tonight, they'll be worse with me tomorrow if I don't turn up tonight." (Y/n)'s tone was pleading but it was also wavering and weak because they both knew she didn't really want to go back home tonight. She wanted to stay with Ben and go to sleep curled up in his arms and wake up with him where she felt at ease and comfortable rather than at home.
But she also didn't want an argument to happen when she eventually went back home to her family after telling them this morning she would definitely be back home tonight after work.
"You're not well, can't you let me look after you, please?"
(Y/n) needed no more convincing than that to give in and stay silent as Ben headed in the direction of his house instead of hers. When she eventually went back home there was going to be an argument and it was not going to end in (Y/n)'s favour, she knew that for sure.
But for now, she had another night to spend with Ben, away from the panic and threat of her family finding out her secrets.
On the last chapter....
"Captain! We won!" Jackie bursted into the room and Julian turned his head while I ducked to the side to look at her "Ooooh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were, well, yeah. I'm, uh, going down and, well, see ya!"
We kept looking at the door until the sound of her footsteps were nothing but a simple memory. We stared at each other again and starting laughing, still holding onto one another.
"Now that was a mood breaker" I pressed my forehead against his chest and he sighed.
"Well, I'm sure we'll be able to continue our fun another time"
My eyes went wide and I smiled at him "We are having a party tonight at my ship, you and your crew should come!" I realized I sounded to excited and fake coughed "I mean, only if you want to"
He laughed lightly and kissed my cheek "It'll be my pleasure, darling"
I let go of his clothes and walked past him, going out of the room, but stopping before he vanished from my sight "Maybe you can show me how bad you are"
I ran down the corridor, rushing down the stairs, excited and giggling like a teenager. I couldn't wait to tell Jackie all the juicy details.
Now....
"Ah, I just can't believe I ruined that! Captain, you were finally gonna get some!" Jackie said loudly enough to turn some heads in our direction.
"Keep it down, I don't want everyone to know about my personal life" I led her by the arm to the street, going outside of the crowded bar.
"So, do you have anything in mind? I mean, he looks like a piece of work. The type that likes to keep things interesting"
She wasn't wrong. By the little time I spent with him I noticed that he was the type that liked to be surprised. Dull wasn't his thing. I wanted to make a good impression on him, not gonna lie. But I still didn't want to seem desperate.
"Not really. I don't want to overdo it, but I definitely want to show my interest. What do you suggest?" I trudge Jackie with my life, and she always had success on her love affairs, so why not ask her?
"You know what? Go to the ship, take a nice bath, dress nicely and spray some perfume. I'll take care of the rest" Her mischievous grin made a chill run down my spine.
"Can't you at least tell me what you're thinking?"
"Sorry Cap, no can do. Now go and get sexy" She started pushing me to walk faster and I did, a little grumpy for not knowing what her plan was about.
After a few minutes walking on the dark and calm streets, I saw my ship. The beautiful Enchantress, lit by the moonlight. It was a "family inheritance", since all my ancestors before me were pirates as well. My parents retired, saying that piracy life wasn't for them anymore, and gave me the ship. Even though I was quite young at the time, I still managed to select a very good crew, sail and manage it with grace.
The ship itself had been strictly taken care of. I have visited many ships during my years as a captain. Invitations to raids, parties or just drunken talks were quite usual for me. And that gave me the chance to take a look at other captains ships, making me feel proud of my own. There was usually blood, oil or even piss on the deck, making it unbearable to stay on the deck for more than fifteen minutes.
My beautiful Enchantress, on the other hand, was vigorously scrubbed almost every day and, to my surprise, the crew actually enjoyed doing the cleaning. Some of them had some experience with ships and claimed that they always wanted to keep the place organized, but their former captains required other types of services from them, leaving no time for cleaning. It was a relief for them to be able to work in a nice smelling place.
As I entender the ship, the soft smell of the ocean entered my nose and I could help but feel I little bit more relaxed. I strutted towards my cabin, the captain's cabin, and started taking some of my ornaments off. Hat, bandana, necklace and rings were all off and laying on the bed next to my recently removed sword. I noticed a stain on my shirt and leaned down to smell it, instantly regretting it. Booze and probably piss. It probably got there when I was crawling behind the counter.
And then it hit me. Shit! Captain Devorak probably smelled that on me. And now he must be thinking that I'm a drunk that pees on myself. I ruined everything. Damn it. Changing clothes was the best option that crossed my mind and I decided to oblige to it. Taking off my pants and dirty shirt, and throwing them on the dirty clothes bucket, I opened my wardrobe to find...almost nothing. Literally, almost nothing. The piece of clothing was almost nothing. On one of our scavenging hunts to Danog, Jackie stole this, well, night lady worker's dress and told I would look marvelous on me. Of course, marvelous wasn't the word that she used.
And now that was the only piece of clean clothing left on my wardrobe. I couldn't wear something dirty, especially after the booze and piss incident. That would have to do for the night. I gave light pats on the dress in case there was any dust on it and started to put it on. At first it was a little uncomfortable, since the outfit had many holes on it and I didn't exactly knew how to put it on. After five agonizing minutes, the dress was on and I looked at myself on the mirror, not recognizing the person staring back.
The dress wasn't short, but it had an opening in it that went from my feet to the middle of my thigh. Its fabric was very light and soft, making the dress dance with the slightest presence of wind. On the chest part, it was indeed very exposing. It showed off almost all my chest, and if I bent down, that's exactly what would happen. It had no sleeves, except for a very thin strap holding the whole dress on my body. It was definitely not my style, but it had to do for tonight.
As I kept preparing myself, I could hear people getting on the ship and going lower deck, towards the little saloon that we had. I couldn't help but to hear Jackie and the Captain speaking to each other, quite loudly actually. They seemed very excited. I love Jackie with all my heart, but sometimes she just can't hold her tongue. Once, she sold off all our plan to the Royal Navy and it ended up bloddy. Of course, is not the same situation, but still, I should get there fast.
I put on my classy shoes and exited the cabin, rushing downstairs. As I went down the stairs I slowed down in order to analyze the room. The music was loud, the room was filled with laughter and bottles were being lifted everywhere. I gently strolled down the stairs and heads slowly turned to watch me. There was a lot of whispering and a few shy whistles were heard here and there. I couldn't help but feel embareased and I quickly tried to find a distraction. I ran my eyes along the room and grabbed a rum bottle lifting it up while flashing a smile.
"TO PIRACY!" Excited screams and clincking bottles where heard from everywhere. Soon, other things were heard. "To money, to power, to women, to a good fuck" and so the saloon was filled with laughter and music again. I could help but to notice a tall man, speaking loudly at one ot the tables as a small crowd gather around to hear what he had to say.
"...and so he stared at me in the eye and said "I bet you could do that blindfolded" and so I did" A few gasps were heard as Julian finished his story and leaned back on his chair.
"Did you really walked on a lake of piranhas blindfolded?"
"And with your hands tied?"
"Sure did" He grabbed a cup and started chugging on it.
"Now that's impressive" He chocked on his drink as my voice reached his ears. He immediately put his drink down and sat up straight.
"Captain (Y/L/N)! How delightful to see you! Oh my, you are absolutely stunning tonight. Looking like a real mermaid" He tripped on his own words as he tried to talk to me. Maybe it was the drinks, or maybe something else.
"So, tell us more about your many dangerous adventures" I sat down opposite to him, slightly bending over the table and watching his gaze fall down to my cleavage "I like a little danger" I grinned.
"How funny, I, um, I can't think of any more stories right now. How odd" He cleared his throat "Well,well, I'm gonna get some fresh air, if you don't mind" And then he left, hands shaking and ears turning red.
"You know he's into you, right?" An old lady said to me, probably part of his crew.
"What do you mean?"
"Haven't seen him behave like that in a long time. And we've been on the same boat since he wore diapers"
"Since he- what?"
"Doesn't matter. Go after him, kid" She gave me a daring smile and patted my shoulder.
"How impolite, I haven't even asked your name" I extended my hand to greet her.
"Mazelinka. And I know exactly who you are. Now go, you're wasting time" She shooed me away from the table and I left the lower deck going outside and feeling a soft and salty breeze on my face.
I felt the bottom of the dress swerling around and it tickled my legs a little. I liked that feeling. I couldn't help but to do a little twirl. It was definitely a change for me to wear something like this and I was a nice change of scenario.
"I think I changed my mind. You look more like a fairy than a mermaid. And yet, your beauty exceeds all others"
Julian was leaned against the mast and only turned his head to look at me. His coat was off and his hat was far back on his head, exposing his whole face and the front part of his hair. He wore tight black pants with a white loose shirt tucked in it. What a sight.
"I can say the same for you, Devorak. You look absolutely stunning under the moonlight" I lifted my eyebrow at the sight of his red cheeks by using his own compliment against him.
For a moment, the only things that could be heard were the sound of the waves hitting the boat, my shoes hitting the wooden floor and our clothes dancing in the wind. I positioned myself in front of him and stared at his face. He tried his best avert his gaze from my face, but I grabbed his chin and made him stare at me.
"You're making me confused, you know. You flirt, you get me all worked up and then you just shy away. What do you want from me, Captain?" I stared deep into his eyes.
He started to mumble nonsense and I couldn't help but to chuckle. He was so shy and yet so bold. I remembered Mazelinka's words and did something on impulse. I moved my hand from his chin to the back of his neck and pulled his head towards me.
He was definently taken by surprised, since he didn't move for a few seconds. But eventually his bold side took over and he grabbed me by the waist, pressing your bodies together. I could feel the temperature rising and the kiss was getting more and more intense. His hands dared to explore more of my body and eventually ended up on my ass. I let out a little gasp that made him chuckle. He forced my body to the side, exchanging positions and pressing me against the mast.
"You have no idea how much I wanted this" He muttered as he slowly kissed your neck.
"I can make things even better" I pushed him, making Julian tumble backwards. My intention was for him to think he would fall but at the last second feel the starboard hit his back. But instead, his feet got tangled in some rope and his body changed the course towards an small opening on the boat. He was actually going to fall.
I rushed to him, the dress making things more complicated, and held a rope attached to the ship with a hand and his waist with the other. He looked absolutely terrified but after realizing he wasn't actually going to fall, he stared laughing and so did I. What really wasn't expected was a loud caw behind me. A crow's caw. I got startled and lost my balance, making me let go of the rope and making both of us fall in the direction of the sea.
It was a matter of instants before we could feel the cold water surrounding us. The dress made it harder to emerge, but I managed anyway. When I got my head out of the water, Julian was already there, almost out of breath, laughing.
"Wait, you're not...angry?" He looked at me, still laughing.
"Are you serious? Why would I be mad? I'm having a nice time with a beautiful girl and now things just got more interesting."
I started to laugh with him and swam closer to his body, embracing and kissing him again. Since we were out of breath, the kiss didn't last very long before we were almost passing out for lack of oxygen.
"We should swim back. We might catch a cold" He agreed with my statement and we both raced back to the docks, shivering, and then entering the ship again.
We were greeted by Jackie who had a very mischievous grin on her face and her hands laying on her hips.
"Having a good time, Captain?" She failed to hold back a giggle.
"Absolutely" As I passed through her I managed to whisper "Make sure we are not disturbed, please...until morning"
"Aye aye, Captain" And with that she left.
I guided him to the cabin and after getting in, I discreetly locked the door. Even though I had warned Jackie, that was always someone who had a complaint or some gossip and decided to tell me on first hand. Better safe than sorry.
"Soooo...what do we do now?" He was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, staring at me like a wet dog.
"Well, I had some ideas in mind" I waltzed around the room, putting out the fire on most of the candles, leaving the room very poorly lit "First, we should undress"
I turned around and, even if the room was almost as dark as the night, I could sse that Julian was blushing. I laughed and grabbed a bucket from the floor, extending it to him.
"Our clothes are wet. Unless you wanna catch a cold, you should undress. Then I'll give you a blanket and maybe we can chat. How does that sound?"
"Marvelous" He grabbed the bucket and turned around. I grabbed another bucket myself and turned around as well.
As the clothes left my body I felt a cold breeze rushing through it and a chill ran down my spine. A soft moan left my mouth and I heard a grunt behind me. A tall mirror was close to me, in an angle that allowed me to see the naked body close to me. He had his clothes off, except for his trousers and his hand was laying on top of a bulge on it, gently stroking.
I couldn't help but bite my lip. It was wrong to watch him, but he looked so helpless and fragile. So needy. He let go of his erection and threw his head back, slightly turning it to the side. It was a matter of seconds before our eyes met in the mirror. I smirked at him and he did the same, with red painted on his cheeks.
I turned around and so did he. Our naked bodies, only covered by our undergarments facing each other, and for a moment, neither of us knew what to do. I stretched my arm and my hand cupped his cheek. His head leaned agaisnt my hand, like a puppy seeking for comfort. I ran my hands through his hand and gave it a small tug.
His lips parted in pleasure and I knew exactly what he liked. I pulled his head so that we could be on the same level and kissed him hard. Soon, his not-so-shy hands started to rub circles on my waist, gently pressing our bodies against one another's.
"Come. Lay with me" He just nodded eagerly and let me guide him to the massive bed covered in red silk sheet underneath the thick fur of the blankets.
I pushed him into bed and appreciated the sight. I've lost count of how many times he had blushed, but he still managed to keep the cherry color on his cheeks. His skin was pale and his chest was covered in hair. He was biting his lips so hard that I though they would start bleeding soon. I knew exactly what he wanted and deserved. And I was going to give it to him.
I left him waiting on the bed a little while longer and walked graciously to the nightstand. Opening the drawer, some items could be found inside. Rope, a piece of red cloth and an expensive massage oil I had acquired during one of my trips. Just what I needed.
"Now this is what you're going to do for me. You're gonna sit on the bed, rest your hands on the headboard, spread your legs, and be a very good boy"
He followed every one of the commands quickly, and soon, his wrists and ankles were tied to bed, his mouth had a made up gag and I was sitting on his lap, naked.
I reached for the oil and slowly opened the bottle, dripping its content on my hands. I placed the bottle on top of the nightstand and rubbed my oily hands over my body. I started at my chest, rubbing circles on my breast while staring intensely into the captain's eyes. They were begging me to touch him. But not yet.
I ran my hands lower and spreaded the oil on my things, each one on the sided of his body. Every now and then I brushed my fingers lightly against his sides just to tease him a little bit. Seeing him squirm under my touch was very pleasant, I had to admit that.
After the front part of my body was shining with oil, I decided to take some pity on the pirate and lossened up the cloth wrapped around his mouth, making it possible for him to talk properly.
His mouth was wet and red, a little swollen, probably from biting on his lip. Which was exactly what he did again, running his eyes over my body, also licking his lips on the process.
"Please let me touch you. I'm begging, please" He lunged forward, being restrained by the ropes, only inches away from my face. He had a desperate expression on his face.
"Not now, bunny. But you will have your time soon. Right now" I slided my hands down his chest "I wanna have some fun with you"
I leaned down and trapped his bottom lip between my teeth, pulling back a little, forcing him to come along. I placed my hand on his neck, and the other one gripped his underwear, pulling it down skillfully. He hissed as a cold breeze hit his region, making it stiffen and rise a little.
I used the little portion of oil left on my hand to rub him down, earning back a chocked moan from his throat. I stroked his shaft up and down in a painfully slow motion, making him buck his hips in response. I chuckled a little and my mouth traveled to his neck, giving it soft nibbles and slight butterfly kissed. I trailed my tongue along his chin, and a little bit lower, trying to find a soft spot.
When he groaned I knew I had found it. I bit him right on the spot and he moaned pornographycaly. His wrists kept trying to break free, which made me realize just how desperate he actually was. He just had to take it just a little while longer.
I braced myself on his shoulders and stared deeply into his eyes as I pushed him into me. We never broke eye contact, even as we started moaning, our mouths hanging open and I staterd to bounce on top of him. The only option he had to relief a little of his heat was to buckle his hips as hard as he could, slamming himself into me. I had to hold both my hands on his shoulders to keep myself from falling of his lap.
The pleasure was way to intense, and I just couldn't take his pleading eyes anymore. I leaned back to untie his ankles and he thrusted his hips firmly up, making me almost loose balance and scream of pleasure at the same time. After his legs were free, I started working on his wrists, which was hard given he hadn't stopped his work down there.
Not even after two seconds after he was free, he embraced my back lunging forward and sitting with his knees pressed against the bed, holding me close to him, like our bodies were one. He still thrusted into me, our means mixing together and we stared at each other's eyes. He kissed me deeply and laid me softly on the the bed. Finishing himself inside of me. I finished soon after and he detached himself from me and pulled me to his chest, caressing my back and planting a soft kiss on my forehead.
"You're beautiful. And I mean it. You're special. I want to be with you" I looked up at him, a soft and genuine smile forming on my lips.
"I want that too"
///
Six months later, your belly was starting to get heavier. You felt a soft pain in your stomach and let go of the ship's wheel, but a pair of firm hands came from behind you and used one hand to hold it and the other one laid on top of your baby belly.
"I told you many times already," He kissed my cheek "go back to bed. You need rest"
"Rest my ass. I'm still capable of running this ship. I'm no less of a captain just because I'm pregnant"
"I know it, darling, but the ships now has two captains for a reason. When one isn't available or not feeling well, the other one takes over"
I sighed. There was mo point on arguing with him.
"I know, bunny, I know. I'll go, okay?" I kissed his hand and strutted to the deck, encountering Mazelinka on the way.
"How's that baby mama going, huh?" She gave you that smile you loved.
"Actually, better than I expected. Some occasional pains, but it's part of the process, I see it now"
"Very well, that's good. Julian told me to keep an eye on you. Now off to bed" She pointed to the captain's cabin.
I groaned to her in a pleading way but she kept her posture. I walked grumpily and she followed right behind. I pulled the sheets and laid down, eventually trying to pull the sheets, but I couldn't reach it because of the belly. Mazelinka grabbed the sheets and covered me, giving me a kiss on the forehead.
"You're a strong woman. You'll be a strong mother too"
And with that, I fell asleep, content.
The Red Sun Cycle
The sound of the alarm clock beside her bed signaled the start of another Friday morning. April slammed her hand down on the device to end its scream and slowly pulled herself out of bed, letting out a loud yawn and staring at herself in the mirror at the other end of the room.
"Morning babe, looking shitty as always I see."
The white cat joked to herself as she undressed and made her way to the bathroom, showering and brushing her teeth to complete her morning ritual.
"Sweetie, breakfast is ready!"
The voice of her Mom rang out from downstairs as she dried herself off and put on her clothes for the school day.
"Hang on Mom, getting dressed!"
She finished putting together her outfit for the day and stumbled down the old steps of her family home, heading straight to the kitchen and sitting at the dining table where her Mother was already putting down a plate of bacon and eggs. Her Father sat at the other end of the table with eyes fixated his phone.
"News says another person went missing."
"Oh no, who was it this time?"
April shoved her breakfast into her mouth as she listened to her parents.
"That boy from April's school. The uh..."
April sighed a bit.
"The gay one. Yes Dad. He was gay. You can say it."
He cleared his throat and grinned sheepishly as April gave him a smile of her own.
"I hope nothing bad's happened to him. He was such a nice boy."
April's Mother sat at the table and poured herself a glass of orange juice as April finished her meal.
"Oh uh, Mom. I'm going out tonight."
"What? Where?"
"To that party I told you about last night. The one at the Felt Club?"
Her Father looked up from his phone with a worried expression.
"You sure you really want to go to some club tonight? With all these kids going missing? Sweetie, I don't think that's such a good idea."
"Dad, I'm 20 years old and I carry mace everywhere, right now. I'm not going to let some random dude take me off the street. Don't worry about it, my friends will be with me anyways."
He shook his head and mumbled to himself as he went back to reading his phone. Her Mother gave April her own worried look as she kissed her goodbye and went out the door with her bag.
-
School went by without incident, a few students were talking about how their fellow classmate had vanished but other than that it was another Friday at the community college.
"Oh my gosh, April, you hear about Sam!?"
April looked up from her books at another chubbier cat girl who was fiddling with her glasses and looking upset.
"Oh no, Cass I heard. I'm so sorry, I know you two were really close..."
"He was like my brother April, why would he just leave without telling me?"
"Cass you know what his parents were like, he probably just had to go somewhere else for a bit. He'll be back, I'm sure of it. There's no way he'd just leave unless something really important was going on."
Cass sniffled and wiped some tears from behind her glasses.
"You're right April...I just hope he isn't in trouble. We...we had a fight before he disappeared."
"Oh my god, what about?"
Cass looked around before whispering to her.
"He was stealing from his work to help pay for a place to stay that wasn't his parents house. I told him he needed to stop and if he needed help I'd help him but he kept doing it, so I tried to confront him the other night and just... everything went wrong and he left."
April rubbed the back of her head nervously. This was the first she'd even heard of Sam doing anything really criminal outside of some vandalism or loitering. She decided to try to lighten the mood the one way she knew how.
"So, you going to that party tonight?"
"Huh? Oh. No, no, god I hate those parties. I'm more of a stay at home in my pajamas girl, you know what I mean?"
"Dude it's fine, I get it. I wanted to go and see what these were all about, never really been to a real party before."
Cass smiled and sniffled again.
"Ugh you're an even bigger dork th-than me sometimes,  April... thanks for trying to cheer me up."
"Cass, everything will be cool, Sam's figuring out his shit and probably didn't want you to worry about him. Go home and do your pajama thing and he might even call you tonight."
Cass perked up a bit more.
"You really think so...?"
"I mean, I'm not like, psychic or anything, so don't take my word for it, but it's better than sitting around being worried."
Cass let out a sigh and nodded a bit.
"Alright I'll try it. You stay safe tonight okay? Clubs like that can be kinda icky."
-
7:00 Pm rolled around. Party Time.
April slipped into her party clothes and went down the steps of her old home again, noticing a note on the refrigerator as she walked through her kitchen.
"Went out with Dad. Have fun at your party. Don't drink too much and call me when you're done. -Love Mom"
She smiled a bit and made sure her phone was charged before shoving it in her jeans and walking out the door where her friends waited in their car.
The Felt Club was like any other bar in the small town where April lived. It was big enough to have large parties with plenty of drunk adolescents, but small enough that it still felt like you were hanging out in someone's basement. Tonight that basement aesthetic was still there even with the booming music and bright strobelights.
After some dancing and small talk with her friends April sat down at the bar and took a few minutes to get her thoughts together properly. It was all so much, especially for her. She needed to take all of this in a bit slower.
"I guess I should order a drink or something. That might help."
She sighed and waved the bartender over, just ordering a small drink and taking little sips when she got it. The taste of alcohol made her tongue sting a bit, but it wasn't the worst thing ever.
"This better help put me in more of a party mood. The taste sure as hell isn't."
She blinked when she felt something bump into her from behind, spinning around on her stool she was confronted with a small boy grinning up at her.
"Hey there lady! You okay?"
April was taken a bit off guard, this kid was way too young to be in a place like this. What was he doing just hanging around a club full of half-drunk people to begin with?
"Hey, did uh, did your mommy bring you here or something?"
She didn't know what else to really say at this point.
"No! My best friend did! He said he wants to meet you!"
April frowned. So some guy brought his kid here to pick up girls for him? Was this even a thing that happened?
"Uh, okay then. Can you take me to him?"
"Okie dokie! Come on he's over here!"
She stood up and followed the small boy, not noticing the larger man who'd been sitting beside her reach over and drop a pair of pills into her drink.
"Okay, we walked across the entire dance floor and I don't see him. Where's your friend kiddo?"
"Oh, he was at the bar! I just wanted to make you more excited by walking you here first."
April groaned a bit. She was awful with kids as it was, she didn't need to babysit one at a party where she was already feeling awkward as hell. She followed him back across the club, hoping no one was giving her weird looks as she sat back down at the bar and took a sip from her drink.
"Alright then small fry. Where's your friend hiding now?"
She suddenly felt a strange throbbing sensation in her head.
"Oh, he's right beside you! Hey lady, you okay? You don't look too good..."
April opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. She felt her body give out under her as a large arm reached from beside her and stopped her from hitting the floor.
Then everything went dark.
-
"Oh no oh no did we give her too much? We gave her too much didn't we?"
"Oh my god will someone shut him the fuck up he's making it worse!"
"Talk to him like that again and we're gonna have a problem buddy."
"Oh fuck right off. If you and your little boyfriend need a fucking ass kicking I'll be sure to give you one."
April coughed and groaned as the loud voices echoed in her head, she could see blurry shapes above her pointing at eachother as the voices continued.
"Don't yell at 'im! He'll beat you up if you don't stop Stark!"
"Oh my god will you stop opening your little mouth for five goddamn seconds the fucking adults are talking!"
"Shuttup I'm an adult too you jerk!"
April tried to move her arms, only for the shapes swirling in her vision to hold her down and look at her. A draft across her body told her she'd been stripped to at least her underwear by these people.
"Alright she's coming to. Do we just do this now or?"
"Give it a bit more time gentlemen. The hour isn't upon us just yet."
She could just barely recognize one of the voices as the child from the party, the other three much older sounding voices were completely unfamilar to her, and a female voice soon joined them.
"Poor thing, you two seriously messed this up. One pill, one. She only needed one in the drink. We use two on people who can fight back."
"Whaaa... who, what's going on...? M-My arms hurt."
"Oh fuck me she's already talking. How much longer do we need to wait for this? She's already awake and we need to do this shit now."
"Mr. Stark, I'm not going to warn you again."
The quiet voice just out of her field of vision made April shudder.
"If it were up to me we'd be carving her the fuck up already and making her wake up, this is a waste of our fucking time."
"If it were up to any of us you wouldn't be here Mr. Stark, we'd simply convert her and end the ceremony without your assistance."
April's heart started racing now, the figures much more clear in her vision. They all wore some sort of hooded coats and glared down at her through some sort of goggles or glasses. They held down her arms and legs as one of them peered down at her with a stare that made her sick.
"Good, you are properly awakened now. It's time for us to begin."
"Wh-what!? Where am I..!? What's going on!?"
"Oh my god do we gag her or something I really don't want to listen to this crap again."
"I thought you liked when they screamed you freak."
"Not this shit, when you hear this shit 24/7 you get sick of it."
A few realizations started hitting April like bullets from a machine gun as she began to struggle and kick.
"Holy shit, oh god you-you're the ones who were taking people...!"
The figures held her down pretty roughly as the shortest one nodded.
"Uh-huh. We had to. It's all part of the plan lady."
She felt a pair of hand rest on the side of her head and tilt it backward, she screamed when she came face to face with a tall thin gentleman wearing the same clothes as the others, his goggled eyes looking right into hers as a gold cross hung around his neck just above her.
"My dear, do not worry. Through your suffering we are doing something greater than you could ever imagine. Though we can never tell you what it's for, your sacrifice will not be in vain."
She started crying now, still squirming as one of them crawled onto the table and got on top of her, holding a switchblade.
"God and I thought the little faggot cried a lot, this stupid bitch is worse than he ever was."
"Stark if you want to leave this chapel alive you'll shut your mouth and do your job. Last warning."
The figure on top of April glared back at the much larger figure holding her legs down before spitting on the floor and returning his attention to her as a thought sparked through her mind.
"S-Sam!? Y-You...You did this to Sam!? Y-You fucking monsters!"
"Oh no, we didn't do this to him, what we did to him was way worse. He's probably still crying right now in Hell where he belongs."
"You fucking bastard!"
April screamed and managed to free her leg, giving the man a swift kick in the groin that elicited howling laughter from a few of the other figures. The laughter ended when the man shoved the knife into her shoulder and twisted it, making her scream out louder as he panted and shook on top of her.
"Fucking bitch...you think you're tough shit or something do ya? So did the other one, and he ain't tough shit no more..."
Her eyes widened as he dragged the knife down and out of her body, leaving a horrible cut and laughing as the sound of metal scraping bone was heard.
"Hahahahaha! Oh man you hear that? Got her pretty deep with that one. Let's see if I can do the same thing to the other side."
April tried to struggle again, but the sound of her ankles snapping in two made her stop to cry out instead.
"Sorry, as much as I'd love to let Stark get another kick in the balls we need to get this over with."
The large figure growled as winced a bit before a sharp pain in her other side shook April from her confusion.
She had no idea how long this was going on. A few minutes, an hour, two hours? The figure on top of her cut and sliced into her with his knife over and over again, her entire body bloody and slashed as she stared up at the other figures trying not to look at her mangled form. She started to see something else, a red orb forming over her as the figure cutting her started chanting some kind of spell, words that sounded like a twisted lullaby but were too muted by the stinging ungodly pain wracking her body as she tried to keep screaming.
"It's time Stark. Please administer the final blow and end this."
April stared in horror as the blood covered man on top of her held the knife above her face and plunged down.
-
The sound of the alarm clock beside her bed signaled the start of another Monday morning. April slammed her hand on the button to silence the device before turning to her phone lazily to read some messages from Sam.
"hey U up?"
"Yeah dude. Rough night."
"U goin to the party friday?"
Lacie Skit
Night after Campaign 36
London-Yesterday at 7:52 PM
After escaping Faelian, London realized Aneris didn't take his hint to head to the bar, so he made a move to travel back to where the group arrived at Lacietown.
Aneris-Yesterday at 7:53 PM
"Oh, it's you"
Zarek-Yesterday at 7:57 PM
Zarek had been following London from a distance, going to a bar had sounded like a good idea after thinking about it, so he was waiting for him to find a bar and catch up with him inside. But stopped to spy on him when he noticed he had ended back where Aneris was, this was weird.
London-Yesterday at 8:01 PM
London glanced around ensuring the area was as seemingly clear as it was when they first arrived, then he brought out his crystal ball to instantly get to work and spy on the priest. "Let's see if he's made it. Hopefully we'll get a clue where they are." The thought of seeing the dead alive again was kind of frightening, but he held back any worry in anticipation.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:02 PM
"Hopefully he didn't fall into the ravine or something" Aneris mutters
DM-Yesterday at 8:03 PM
London is able to see the priest sitting in what appears to be a small room. It is rather well lit and he is reading a book. He closes it and looks up when he realizes he is being watched by London. He gives an okay sign and nods.
London-Yesterday at 8:04 PM
"Looks like the job is done. Are you okay with heading over there right now?" He stopped scrying.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:05 PM
"I'd prefer now actually. Think she's back at the house again?"
London-Yesterday at 8:08 PM
"If she woke up like nothing happened, then probably.. Only one way to find out."
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:09 PM
That's good enough for Aneris so she heads off towards the house where Lacie was probably murdered and Pawo was defenitly knocked the fuck out.
Zarek-Yesterday at 8:10 PM
Zarek just watched them from afar, and decided to slowly follow them from a safe distance. Normally he would approach any of them but seeing them together like this was a bit suspicious.
DM-Yesterday at 8:10 PM
they find it as empty as it was left when they arrived the first time, however minus one little girl this time. Im assuming zarek trailed, and likely found this supicious
London-Yesterday at 8:14 PM
London scratches his head awkwardly and considers bringing out the crystal ball again. "You think he's close enough for telepathy?.." Judging where to look just by visuals is hard. "I guess I could try to scry on her.. But that seems wrong without giving her a warning first." He tries to judge if the priest is close enough for telepathy.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:15 PM
"If you don't want to scry her why don't we at least check in with the priest from this town? Since he, you know, had the body"
London-Yesterday at 8:16 PM
"Um, yeah.. Let's do that then." Heading to the next location
DM-Yesterday at 8:17 PM
group heads to the church where they find mr priest man standing outside waiting for them
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:19 PM
Aneris gives half a wave. London gets to greet, she's better than that.
London-Yesterday at 8:21 PM
London walks forward trying to hide any shame in not realizing this was probably the obvious destination to begin with. "Hey, so how'd things go?"
Zarek-Yesterday at 8:22 PM
Zarek was really confused, maybe he was too far away but that didn't look like the town's priest...he resembled the priest that healed Salt more in fact.
DM-Yesterday at 8:23 PM
The man greets the group and explains Lacies condition. "The revival was successful and she is free of that blight you described to me after her initial death. She appears normal now aside from her arms. She's currently sleeping upstairs."
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:23 PM
Aneris sweats. "Aside from her arms? I thought you said you could help with that?"
DM-Yesterday at 8:24 PM
"The magic isnt allpowerful. She's going to need a good deal of time to adjust." He explains
London-Yesterday at 8:25 PM
"Ah.. that's fine. You've done more than enough. Thank you." He's not sure whether to expect sword arms or no arms, but they'll see soon enough.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:25 PM
Aneris frowns but says nothing.
London-Yesterday at 8:27 PM
" It's okay! We were both talking about how she needed a way to defend herself anyway, right? I'm sure she's fine! " He hoped that'd help comfort her, but he was starting to worry, himself.
DM-Yesterday at 8:28 PM
"Well, I assume you'd like to see her, come inside." He gestures to the open door
London-Yesterday at 8:29 PM
They follow
DM-Yesterday at 8:32 PM
The priest leads the group to the upper room of the church. They enter what appears to be a guest room of a kind with at least five empty beds and one occupied one. A familiar shade of hair peeks out from under some blankets and appears much cleaner upon immediate glance than what the group first encountered. Lacie sleeps quietly with her back towards the group, undisturbed by the faint amount of light in the room.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:33 PM
"You get to wake her up, hero magic man" Aneris mutters
Zarek-Yesterday at 8:33 PM
Zarek, seeing them enter the church, declares this as 'way too suspicious' and decides to enter too.
DM-Yesterday at 8:34 PM
guessing Zarek doesnt see them downstairs
Zarek-Yesterday at 8:34 PM
Zarek looks around for any trace of them or anyone that could be downstairs
DM-Yesterday at 8:35 PM
go roll on that one
London-Yesterday at 8:35 PM
"What? Why don't we let her sleep? She's been through enough to deserve a little rest." London responds mostly to delay the suspenseful reunion
zarek is able to deduce they went upstairs and sneaks up there without being seen by anyone else
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:37 PM
"Because who knows when she'll wake up on her own, plus aren't we heading out in the morning? We don't really have time to wait around."
DM-Yesterday at 8:37 PM
he finds the room where London and Aneris are and waits outside it
London-Yesterday at 8:41 PM
"Yeah, I guess so..." He is reluctant and turns to the priest. "Do you mind if I see the state of her arms?"
DM-Yesterday at 8:44 PM
london rolls dex for sneak
go for it though
"Of course" The priest replies
London attempts to move the covers off Lacie delicately but this goes terribly and she wakes up immediately with a bit of a jump. She recoils as far back as possible into the wall and bangs her head on it. She wakes up immediately at least but has trouble bringing her arms to the back of her head. Her arms, noteably, are indeed arms, rather than blades. They appear obviously prosthetic, but move regardless.
Zarek-Yesterday at 8:54 PM
Zarek hears a loud bang against the wall and immediately enters the room. "What are you two doing?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:54 PM
Aneris flinches at London's fuck up, this isn't the first time she regrets letting a bard doing something.
London-Yesterday at 8:56 PM
London holds his position not expecting such an extreme reaction. He recoils a bit before speaking. "Lacie, are you okay?" He basically ignored Zarek, oops.
Aneris-Yesterday at 8:58 PM
Aneris turns to Zarek. She then realizes she doesn't really have a good lie on hand so she just gives half a shrug before also ignoring him and turning to the girl. "I'm really sorry about him, and your head. Mostly your head."
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:00 PM
Zarek, completely ignored but too surprised over seeing Lacie laying on a bed, not buried, simply walks up to london and puts his hand heavily on his shoulder. "Telepathy. Now" He mutters to him
London-Yesterday at 9:01 PM
"Uh, yeah.." Telepathy is on between the three, but he wasn't really ready to start a conversation
DM-Yesterday at 9:01 PM
Lacie manages to get a grip on reality after a minute and looks around the room. "Oh, hello again Mr. magician. And everyone..." She continues holding her head and attempts to hide a yawn.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:02 PM
Zarek smiles at the girl and waves at her "Good evening" Care to explain?
London-Yesterday at 9:03 PM
London grows less tense and let's out a bit of a sigh. "Did you have a nice sleep?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:04 PM
"Sorry he woke you up." London woke up a child, he's really clumsy. Isn't that much obvious?
"Are the priests being nice to you?"
DM-Yesterday at 9:04 PM
"Uuh... not really..." She brings her arms down from her head.
"They are being nice though. Why are you all here again?"
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:05 PM
Oh, did you London? I might need your help to wake up a couple people, since I guess you specialize in really DEEP sleeps
London-Yesterday at 9:06 PM
"Um, we didn't say bye remember? It'd be rude to leave without doing that much."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:07 PM
Aneris sucessfully turned the focus to London! "Uhh, we were passing by the town again and wanted to see how you were doing."
London-Yesterday at 9:07 PM
Their cooperation in this is bad.
DM-Yesterday at 9:07 PM
"Oh okay..." Lacie looks down, a little dejected.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:08 PM
Zarek smirks at this shitshow of a lie.
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:08 PM
Why didn't you ask the priest what she rememebred? Why did you rush and wake her up??
London-Yesterday at 9:09 PM
 Aaaaaaaaaaaaa This is a lot of pressure for a guy.
"What matters is we're here right now! Why do you seem down?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:09 PM
Aneris smacks London and shoots a glare at him. Don't do that
DM-Yesterday at 9:09 PM
Lacie looks up at the two adults in front of her fighting
London-Yesterday at 9:11 PM
He rubs where he got hit. "We're just playing around, don't worry."
DM-Yesterday at 9:12 PM
"Mmm, okay" She nods. "Is the big coat man okay?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:12 PM
"The red guy?"
DM-Yesterday at 9:13 PM
she nods
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:13 PM
"He a bit stuck up but he's doing fine besides that."
London-Yesterday at 9:15 PM
"Yeah, he's doing okay. He said he had fun spending time with you." He never actually said that but it sounded believable enough
DM-Yesterday at 9:15 PM
She smiled a little, as it was believeable enough
London-Yesterday at 9:15 PM
 Talking to the priest about how long she's been awake and what she remembers really would have helped.. But things seem okay, right?..
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:16 PM
You have no idea what's going on below the surface
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:16 PM
Here I thought I was the only one who was lost.
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:17 PM
I really just wanted to hand the kid some knives and see her on her way, that asshole said the arm thing would be taken care of
Why are you here even? Aneris turns to Zarek again
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:18 PM
I was following London to "a bar", but I guess you two had an appointment already
London-Yesterday at 9:19 PM
"Sorry we left so suddenly last time. Are you really doing okay? If you need anything you can just ask. We're just visiting again, but if you want, we can come by again later. The red coat man got this cool ability to teleport, so he can visit anytime." He just doesn't know you're alive yet.
 You were following me?..
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:19 PM
You got lost trying to find a bar in a town you've already been in? Aneris deflects
"He had some . . .. magic things to go do?"
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:21 PM
I wasn't the only one lost it seems. He narrows his eyes a bit and stares at London.
DM-Yesterday at 9:21 PM
Aneris's simplicity registers more with Lacie and she understandingly acknowledges the importance of said lie. "You already helped me, thank you." She bows her head a little
London-Yesterday at 9:25 PM
 I'll explain everything in a bit, okay!! "If you're sure.. Guess you need to sleep though, huh? I'm happy we got to see you again."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:26 PM
Aneris gives Lacie a thumbs up. "Don't worry, I'll make sure he doesn't wake you up again."
DM-Yesterday at 9:28 PM
"Mmhm, I'm happy I met you all." She smiles at the group behind tired eyes
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:28 PM
Zarek sighs and then smiles.
London-Yesterday at 9:28 PM
"Goodnight, Lacie."
He starts to head out, giving a nod of gratitude to the priest before leaving
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:30 PM
Zarek waves to Lacie and the priest and follows behind.
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:31 PM
Aneris also heads off, hoping Zarek will question London.
London-Yesterday at 9:34 PM
After exiting, London turns not-so-prepared to explain, " Soo..."
"You saw that."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:34 PM
Aneris attempts to sneak off
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:35 PM
"Yeah, she banged her head pretty loudly. Aneris, don't extend this more than we need to."
London-Yesterday at 9:36 PM
"Aw, let her go. It was my idea anyway." He tries to help
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:37 PM
Aneris turns back around. "I just figured he'd be able to asnwer questions better and didn't want to get in your way" Aneris glares at London, mad that he's trying to help her.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:38 PM
"I'm starting to have my doubts since he hasn't answered a single question yet"
London-Yesterday at 9:38 PM
He grimaces. It wasn't his fault she got caught.
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:38 PM
"Have you even asked a question though?" Aneris
"A real question?"
London-Yesterday at 9:39 PM
"I just didn't want to answer anything while we were in there. It was a sentimental moment. Now that we're out I can."
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:40 PM
"Then I'll repeat myself, what are you two doing here?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:40 PM
"Saying hi"
"See we're co-operative, so we're done here then?"
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:41 PM
"Wow you weren't kidding about him being better at answering" he turns back to London
London-Yesterday at 9:42 PM
"Uh, well, were you there when I was talking to Pawo and the others about the whole revival thing? That kind of happened after I already started something.."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:42 PM
Aneris shuts up, she knows she should take Zarek's responce as a victory but hearing that the bard is better was a hit.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:42 PM
"Go on..."
London-Yesterday at 9:45 PM
"You don't really need Aneris here for the whole spiel, right? She's just going to be bored hearing a rehash of stuff that's already happened."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:46 PM
"I don't need you defending me"
Aneris did indeed want to leave a minute ago, but she wanted to elave on her own terms.
London-Yesterday at 9:47 PM
"Then why are you still here if you wanted to get away so badly? If you want to join in the conversation, then suit yourself." He's buying time. This is a difficult thing to confess to.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:47 PM
"Come on London! At this rate I'm going to be the bored one here"
London-Yesterday at 9:49 PM
"Okay, okay." Caught so fast. "In the city full of lanterns and stuff, I met with the priest and asked him if he could revive Lacie. He said it would be a hefty price, so Aneris decided to show off and pay for me. Are you happy now?"
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:50 PM
Aneris tries to sneak off again
London-Yesterday at 9:52 PM
London sees her but doesn't comment
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:52 PM
Zarek turns to look at Aneris in surprise but catches a glimpse of her trying to leave the conversation and turns back to London. "How much was it?..."
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:53 PM
Aneris flinches are turns around again. "Wow that's kind of rude, I don't ask how much you spend on things."
London-Yesterday at 9:54 PM
London makes sure Aneris isn't in the new secret telepathy chat. Like 100,000...?
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:54 PM
How did you bribe her!? "My bad, I shouldn't ask that kind of thing" he replies to Aneris
London-Yesterday at 9:55 PM
"I guess I should admit, she also was the person who mentioned I should talk to a priest in the first place. She really loves to rub it in how ignorant I am." He huffed.
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:55 PM
Aneris glares at London suspiciously.
"I don't need this." Aneris mutters and heads off.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:56 PM
"See you later" Zarek says as she leaves
London-Yesterday at 9:56 PM
"Oops.." He mumbled. Guess that was too obvious..
Aneris-Yesterday at 9:56 PM
Aneris ignores the nosy fuck.
Zarek-Yesterday at 9:57 PM
After seeing her leave he asks London again, this time out loud "What were you doing with her? How did you bribe her?"
London-Yesterday at 10:01 PM
"I didn't bribe her. Do you think someone like her would even take a bribe from me? She'd probably set anything I offered on fire just to watch me burn."
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:02 PM
"100,000 is just...a lot of gold, I didn't know she had that kind of money with her...or that she would use it on someone else"
London-Yesterday at 10:07 PM
 The night before we left this city the first time, I met with Aneris and talked about bringing Lacie back. She was the one who suggested going to a priest and even went as far as offering to pay for her revival. It's not like it's the first time she's ever done a nice thing, but you saw how she kind of got along with Lacie anyway. Is it that hard to believe? He reverted back to telepathy. Something like this was definitely easier to say out of range of the elf's ears.
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:10 PM
"I didn't really see much her with the girl to be honest, but...that's nice to hear. I'm just, confused is all." Zarek smiles "but I'm really happy you two did this, she really deserved to keep living."
London-Yesterday at 10:16 PM
"Oh yeah, you definitely sounded happy chastising me for waking people up from their DEEP sleep earlier." He countered, but he didn't let that bother him for long. "Sorry for hiding the secret from you. It was kind of an impulsive decision, but I don't regret it. I'm glad you understand."
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:18 PM
He smirked "Chastising may be going a bit too far, but God by the way you were so hesitant to answer it really seemed like you had done something way worse"
London-Yesterday at 10:21 PM
London replied with a laugh. "Aneris acts like nice acts are the worst things in the world. I had to be careful." He didn't laugh for long though because he remembered the chance she was eavesdropping was still there and coughed. "Yeah, I guess I may have been a bit overly ambiguous."
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:25 PM
Zarek laughs. "All's good then." He paused a bit "Are you telling the rest?"
London-Yesterday at 10:30 PM
"Um, I'm thinking about it. I was keeping it a secret mostly for Aneris's benefit, and I guess it felt wrong to bring up sad memories just after they all finished grieving over her. But after that conversation about revival with Pawo, I do feel kind of guilty keeping it a secret. If he finds out what happened, he'll be ticked.."
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:37 PM
"Yeah, I understand...Its a complex situation..."
London-Yesterday at 10:38 PM
"We'll only be here for a day, so I'll decide tomorrow or something. But I really feel like it would be better not to distract everyone from the upcoming situations we'll be facing."
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:39 PM
“That’s true…I’m still kind of surprised you would do this with Aneris out of all people. I guess…maybe I should ask you something..possibly”
London-Yesterday at 10:43 PM
“I guess we are kind of an odd duo. She did threaten to kill me once or twice, but I’m starting to see a disparity between her actions and words. I’m not -as- worried about her anymore..” Although the worry is still there. “What is it?”
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:47 PM
“You aren’t allowed to tell anyone though. Absolutely anyone. I want you to swear your life on it.”
London-Yesterday at 10:50 PM
“Um, sure…” Somehow he didn’t think this was something worth swearing on his life.. “Need me to make a binding vow or anything?”
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:52 PM
“A what? No… I was just thinking, about Aneris..since you’re closer to her than I expected I guess.” He turns his head away “ I was thinking maybe you had some love advice you could give me?”
London-Yesterday at 10:56 PM
For a moment, London just stared at Zarek letting the request sink in. It wasn’t something totally unexpected, but it was still news to him. “I didn’t see that coming.”
Zarek-Yesterday at 10:57 PM
Zarek gets visibly flustered “Y-you don’t have to answer if you have nothing I guess…”
Aneris-Yesterday at 10:58 PM
Aneris, sitting in her room at the inn sneezes. “Fucking clerics”
London-Yesterday at 11:01 PM
“No, I just needed to think it through.. You two really do make a great combo together in battle. And she got you that horse, too. I can see the possibility of it happening.” London nodded to himself imagining the scenario - intentionally biding his time just to see the other grow more embarrassed.
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:03 PM
Zarek just looks away even more. “Maybe..”
London-Yesterday at 11:20 PM
As if gaining insight, he beamed, “Yeah, I can help you out. You’ve done a lot for me already, it’s the least I could do. Trying to get with someone like Aneris sounds tricky, but I think, if anyone, you’re probably the most capable for the job. And well, after recent events, I’ve grown to like the two of you, so seeing the two of you together could be nice.” Or something?
Without wasting time and giving no chance for negotiation, he pulled Zarek closer and lowered his voice. “You see, what you need to do is build up points with her through fighting. Take some mercenary jobs - that will do the trick! Then later, after a long day of working together, camp out alone in a cave or something and make your move. You have to say something romantic!” He cleared his throat before doing an obscure impression of Zarek’s voice, “ After this is all over, let’s keep fighting alongside eachother - just the two of us. ” +wink. He released him to gain some space just to gesture in emphasis - “That’s when you make your move! You’ve got to kiss her!! And what happens next will come naturally, hehe..” He nodded to himself proudly just imagining it.
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:25 PM
Zarek listens carefully, quietly nodding until London gets to the last part and pushes his face away. “Come on! I don’t have a death wish!….B-but the rest could really work…” Zarek thinks on it really focused. “Mercenary jobs…I’m not sure how feasible it is in our current condition but it sounds like the perfect middle ground between us.” Zarek smiled “Thanks a lot!…also, never do that impression of me again.”
London-Yesterday at 11:29 PM
London smiled in return. “Sure thing!” Responding to both remarks. “Will you let me know how it goes? I’ll be cheering you on, regardless.”
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:31 PM
Zarek pauses a bit “I would owe you that much if it actually worked I guess…But we can never mention this out loud again. Never.”
London-Yesterday at 11:37 PM
London gave an ‘ok’ with a hand. If you want to spend an extra day in town, I’m sure the rest of the team won’t mind. I know you’re always in a hurry for the benefit of the team, and Phalanx is probably going to be looking for that rebel group in search of us next, but I’m sure they’ll be safe. Ethis said he was in contact with that girl he mentioned, after all. I don’t think he’d suddenly betray her. It might make things harder on us, but it’s not something we won’t be able to overcome.
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:40 PM
Don’t worry, I’m not that selfish. I’m sure I’ll find the time in our journey. I don’t want to let this mess my priorities up too much
London-Yesterday at 11:44 PM
Ah, good call. Got to admire how responsible you can be. Anyway, did you need anything else? If not, I’m probably heading to bed. It got late. You don’t mind not telling anyone about the Lacie thing, do you?
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:44 PM
after making you swear on your life about my secret? Don’t worry. Goodnight.
London-Yesterday at 11:46 PM
Heh, yeah, don’t worry about it. He stopped the telepathy before waving him off as he headed to the inn. “Night!”
Zarek-Yesterday at 11:47 PM
Zarek waved and then gave him some distance. It would be awkward to walk besides him after saying goodbye. But where else was he gonna head but the inn.
