my dad says the performance hall he helped build (a large portion of the detailing and woodwork, that is) really needs an elevator for accessibility and he’s so right…… like, the owner knows a lot of disabled people and it hasn’t even occurred to him because he’s a rich able man

#a lot of my parents’ friends are too old/frail to get up the spiral staircase safely #and if there was an elevator it would also be easier to move furniture and art pieces #in addition to being ADA-compliant #my dad had to secretly fill in a spot of loose gravel in a patio because one of our closest family friends is blind and it wasn’t level #it was for the ~aesthetic~ but safety and aesthetics are both important there #he was like ‘i didn’t want any of his rich customers filing frivolous suits either’
