literally every season of ds9 the writers were coming up with wacky hijinks and political intrigues and then suddenly went ‘oh wait we have to put miles o’brien through his regularly scheduled dose of Unimaginable Horrors now’

#a couple of episodes ago this guy was chuckling as he gave ferengis copies of the communist manifesto #now he’s been through HORRIFIC TRAUMA in MIND PRISON #and everyone is just like ‘aw but you’ll be ok pls just fix the ship for us 🥺’#like 90% of his appearances so far this season have been him and Julian doing fun background holosuit adventures and then they’re like ‘no’#‘time to explore psychological torture of a random Irish guy in space’#AND THIS HAPPENS EVERY SEASON #he just wants to fix his ship love his wife and play wwii roleplay with his boyfriend #let him be!!!#let him live!!!#is TNG like this??#so they just pause the enterprises adventures occasionally to just beat the everlasting emotional shit out of o’brien #stop bullying my boy!!#ds9 #bee talks ds9 #miles o'brien
