my personal convoluted answer to the question is that both pre death and post res wei wuxian have the possibility to resurrect lan wangji in a fit of emotion (pre death moreso because of you know the deteriorating mental state), but pre death wei wuxian would not resurrect lan wangji on purpose, and post res wei wuxian would only do so with express permission, which I can't imagine lan wangji giving

#I think wei wuxian just like. respects lan wangji too much to do it on purpose? but loves him enough he could without meaning to #not to say that wei wuxian does not respect wen ning he does very much #but that was a. in a fit of emotion and b. the first time that had ever happened at all ever #I think after seeing what it put wen ning through he wouldn't wish that on lan wangji even for the sake of his own grief #boundaries are so important to both of them I jusr can't imagine him doing it on purpose #pre Or post res #pre death yllz era wwx was in enough of a State that I think it could just Happen #esp if we go w more of the canon where he is slowly loosing control #and post res wwx might on accident if Really pressed in a deeply tramatizing set of circumstances #honestly I am surprised that as part of the nevernight insanity wei wuxian didn't ressurect jiang yanli in a fit of grief #now THAT would be fucked up #have been toying w a fic idea where jyl survives nevernight but that would be an interesting take on that situation #sort of implausible tho because wwx wouldn't be alive to do the whole restoring of conciousness thing #anyway.
