waitress of the kestrel. the most recent hire. she is the daughter of a kiln commander and a renowned ballerina. insomniac, level-headed, well-spoken, which everyone except ishmael have taken a keen liking to. quiet. deathly afraid of dogs. was fucking someone for bread when esau found her.
aaron / hamish linklater / human / ashley isbister
bartender of the kestrel. essentially the one who runs the whole pub. his word is law here—even above esau's. brews their own concoction of gin and rum alongside esau. nurses his grudges. adheres to the philosophy of peace through violence. a long-time "friend" of delilah's and the only one who dislikes jezebel's combat training under cain. a man of science (and medicine) knows no limits. idolater.
THE ARMS
those who bear the namesake; fledglings. the brothers are under the stewardship and tutelage of cain. due to space and number of businesses under the protection of the kestrel (as well as their own side-gigs aka bounty hunting), it's possible that they themselves have their own street urchins and devilled wraiths under their employ. all such creatures are vetted by cain and ishmael.

head of acquisitions of the kestrel. former courtesan. in charge of propagating the business, finding and acquiring new sources of revenue. legitimately. through her newfound identity, she's helped extend the business' reach to the doors of the Republic's most distinguished dignitaries. an excellent hound for secrets, and a lover of theatrics. deceit is mother tongue. she's everyone's love interest. betrayed her master (lover) after gaining autonomic function. (whether she thrives in this currency of blood and coin is up to you; alternatively, she could be yearning for a "normal" life.) aaron "found" her in a state of nature and brought her to headquarters, where it took 10 days into finally deciding she would work for them. cain subsequently took care of the repo agents after her.

head of security of the kestrel. still waters belie hyper vigilance—and excessive bloodlust. no quarter is the only language spoken when there's a knife to the throat. calmest in a bloodbath; bets big, and a scathing mouth to go with. superiority complex runs high. diet's exclusively meat. in charge of security, both offensive and defensive in nature. in charge of smuggling operations that run out of the Republic. killed his only brother. / he and esau served together as former kiln captains.
THE MIND
those who break and mend.

proprietor of the kestrel. "if cain was able to have a light side" personified. the man by the bar with the reading glasses. why's he always smiling? has an excellent nose for liars, better eyes for sinners. is arguably more unforgiving than cain, but is long-suffering, and always bides his time. yet one-and-done is the game. plant dad. religious. collector of Old World artefacts. deceived of his birthright. / he and cain served together as former kiln captains.
ishmael / rami malek / suggested: mentat
bookkeeper of the kestrel. the consummate pessimist. always has a frown to go with callous hands and an acerbic tongue. high society fallen from grace. but there's no admitting: here, in the dark, for wont of vice and birth of humane sin, he is the grandmaster. for all the snide and headache and irritable near-life tragedies, he controls this criminal universe. only thing he lacks is charm. oversees all business transactions. stripped of his birthright and banished. closest to esau.
