When Ash goes to Galar with Gou, the first place they go to is Motostoke to see Kabu and that’s when the other gym leaders realize that Kabu is/was married and has a kid. The only others who already knew were Rose and Melony. Rose is a complete ass and doesn’t let Labu leave Galar often which why most don’t realize and the rare times he can go to Kanto, it’s because Melony threatened Rose

Hi yes, I absolutely love this. Imagine Rose knowing Ash is coming and he’s there to greet him with a shot ton of reporters and cameras. And once Ash is off and into the building, he doesn’t even see Rose. Goes right past him, dragging Gou right behind him, and rams into a person in a jacket.

That person turns out to be Kabu. And Ash starts babbling about how he’s so happy to come see his dad!!! Like he hasn’t seen his dad in over the years, and now he’s here!!!! And Kabu is equally happy, with no one has ever seen before. And he just slings an arm around Ash and brings him into a bone crushing hug
