Organic Pulse Ensemble – Formative Stages - we are blessed with a *second* album this year from this Swedish one-man spiritual jazz band, this time on the Estonian label RRGEMS (another from them in a minute…)
Organic Pulse Ensemble approaches adventures in fields of sound as a one-man band. It is music recorded, composed and mixed by Gustav Horneij. But don’t let this fact mislead you, because the way the artist is binding together rhythm, melody and textures is highly inspirational. It is singular but with a spiritual kinship and debt owed to the torchbearers of 60s and 70s independent jazz. Intellectually unpretentious ‘Formative Stages’ takes the listener on a voyage into an organic and deep resonance. Pleasant melodies evoke a unifying and sensitive response. It shimmers with wonder.
All music composed, performed, recorded & mixed by Organic Pulse Ensemble aka Gustav Horneij except for bouzouki on B1 Dimitrios Karatzios Artwork by Agnes Horneij

Although it’s no longer a surprise, we can’t help but be impressed that the array of sounds coming from our speakers is the work of one man. Whether it’s the soulful notes of a saxophone, the enchanting melody of a flute, the mighty blare of a trumpet, the harmonious chords from keys, or the rhythmic beats of drums – every sound is birthed from the prodigious hands of Gustav Horneij. It’s a superb album that subtly changes the OPE recipe, but the music remains deep with a touch of the spiritual, never falling into the trap of excessive noodling.

Organic Pulse Ensemble - A Thousand Hands - new album from Sweden’s one-man spiritual jazz band
This album fuses the intensity of free jazz , with the meditative and mystical feeling of the spiritual approach of the genre . The lengthier timing of the tracks provides the musician the chance to explore different paths in terms of composition , on many occasions focusing on the music progression on each track , containing his perfectionist zeal and accepting the value of leaving some of the mistakes and rough edges which we consider to be a very important addition in terms of personality and originality to the work. Gustav keeps pushing the boundaries of the form by incorporating influences from ethiojazz to eastern sounds , all of it in an amazing organic way that makes it hard to believe all the composition and performance come from a single artist. “ A thousand hands, raised in joyful dance. You can shake the weight of the world, just dance!  - Music composed, performed, recorded and mixed by Gustav Horneij. - Mastering by Nene Baratto at Morphine Raum , Berlin. - Artwork and layout by Dimitirios Karatzios. - Layout and additional artwork by Gustav Horneij.

Organic Pulse Ensemble - Zither Suite - after releasing two albums last year, one-man spiritual jazz band Gustav Hornej is back with another one already
Zither Suite is the fifth OPE album. It was recorded in my apartment in Kortedala, just outside of Gothenburg. No neighbours were harmed in the recording process. The title track opens with a bitter sweet bass melody that I first recorded some 10 years ago, but it's been fermenting ever since and finally reached maturity. The zither that gave name to the record (and the first track) was a find from the local charity shop. While it's not featured on every track of the album it's a crucial part of the feel of the album as a whole. It's the rug that ties the room together. The tracks on this album are all original compositions with the exception of Jämtland which is based on an old Swedish folk melody, reported to have been played by musicians in Jämtland as early as the late 1700s. The county of Jämtland is forever claiming a tounge in cheek sort of independence from the Swedish governing body (in spirit rather than in actual policies) and Jämtlandssången is it's unofficial national anthem. -Gustav Horneij

Organic Pulse Ensemble - The Light Comes Black - looks and sounds like a long-lost Strata-East album, but no, it’s brand new by one guy in Sweden (Gustav Horneij)
Organic Pulse Ensemble our Swedish "One Man Ensemble" is back with a beautiful album. "The Light Comes Black" is an ode to the ominous season of Winter in the northern parts of the globe specially around January in this time of year when days and nights blend together in a long period of darkness. It's also about the time when the light comes back along with life and nature reviving in Spring.
The album tells a story about that cycle, first the sun descending marks the beginning of the long dark. As we step further into Winter we're given time to reflect on the Mighty Cold coming from the north.
Later filled with hope and joy we See The Sun Rise, that moment when darkness goes away and birds start singing again. The Light Comes Black was inspired by that special feeling in your heart when you finally see sun light again and it feels like being reborn. When you live in those parts of the world this is a cycle and it becomes more than just a phenomenon it's also a way of life. We're pleased to offer you this incredible album on a special limited vinyl edition. All tracks composed, produced & recorded by Gustav Horneij aka Organic Pulse Ensemble Artwork by Agnes Horneij

Organic Pulse Ensemble - Transcending The Sum - a masterful pastiche of classic spiritual jazz by one-man band Gustav Horneij
Hailing from the North of Sweden Organic Pulse Ensemble is a modern Spiritual Jazz "Onesemble" in more words the music is directed, composed and played/recorded by only one person. Since the adult age Gustav Horneij has been self taught and played all sorts of instruments, Bass Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Piano and more. He has been making music for more than a decade and under the alias Organic Pulse Ensemble for about 5 years but "Transcending The Sum" is his first official and so debut album. His music is rich in spirituality and heavily influenced by the magical nature of the place he lives in. In the north days and night don't have the same values than for the rest of the world, the natural environment itself can also be surreal. "Transcending The Sum" is first about his music and what it represents. Every instrument is played individually and if listened on it's own won't have much of an impact but when all these instruments come together it produces a magical effect. The whole album tells the story of a journey in Organic Pulse Ensemble universe. The perfect debut album to introduce his music to the world. Music composed, recorded and mixed by Organic Pulse Ensemble Artwork by Blameful Isles Cover Layout by Alex Brade Mastering by Pawcut and Sterilone at Staub Audio Engineering Vienna Published, manufactured and distributed by Urban Waves

Oil Slick is the first single from the debut album by Duoya. The Swedish duo is formed by Gustav Horneij and Dimitrios Karatzios, known notably for Organic Pulse Ensemble. Their first full length album is dropping early October and is called "International FM" and will be full of Funky, Jazzy and lovely tunes! Oil Slick is a perfect introduction to the project. Laid back and chill the song is taking you on a stroll in the Islands. All recorded live on multitrack with a mix of vintage and modern equipment the music feels like from a different time. While keeping it pretty contemporary on the arrangements, Duoya has no time boundaries and the song's atmosphere will quickly win you over and give you a breath of fresh air. Enjoy your Summer and catch you in the fall with more from this project! @duoyaband @organicpulseensemble @_ksport_ 🎨 @slowya.roll 🎥 #funk #funkmusic #instrumental #jazz #jazzy #vintage #funky #chillout #chill #summermusic https://www.instagram.com/p/CScJGvRo7Vo/?utm_medium=tumblr
