#have many problems with the post for sure but i also think it tries (and fails) to touch on some overlooked topics#like the focus on validity rather than something tangible (actual medical support for those that need it)#and centering that. which just smacks of liberal respectability politics or a product of it more like#there's a grander conversation to be had here that i think people are missing out on because of the inflammatory nature of the story post#(which i feel was written as a rant in response to smth so clearly wouldn't be a structured argument) when what the actual focus should be#is the caption elaborating on the points brought up. again. still big issue with tokenizing twoc to back up their argument#but writing this conversation off completely isn't gonna get us anywhere and i feel like we're going to continue to see more talk about thin#gs like this in the near future. NOT nb vs. binary because -- if you read the caption -- not **exactly** what the post was about#but discussing the interactions between transitioning and non-transitioning members of our community and where we all go from here#which needs to happen imo.#***reading again i shouldn't say nb v. binary isn't what the post was about because it does essentially say that again and again.#what i should say is that that's not the dichotomy they were actually referring to -- it's very clearly about medical transitioners#and those that don't plan on medically transitioning
