Well, it's been a while. I'm alive and kicking, even if just barely. Things have been crazy for me for months and it's not going to get easier. But I've had a bit of time and space to breathe and even catch up on some shows. I had a break from dizis again but I finally managed to watch pilot episodes of some summer dizis (Seversin, Gizli Saklı, Senden Daha Güzel) and episode 1 of a Netflix show with Birce Akalay that I've already talked about - Kuş Uçuşu. None of these shows really caught my interest.
I can say that I liked Gizli Saklı the most and even watched past the first episode. The idea is new for a summer show. Two police officers going undercover and pretending to be a married couple - that's a great trope to play with. The actors have decent chemistry, the overall atmosphere is light, despite the presence of a mafia boss. The thing that put me off the show is the female lead's mother. An overbearing, controlling mother. There're all kinds of mothers and this is a totally believable example of smother-love. I just think that there's too much focus on the mother and the drama she brings, while there's plenty to explore if the focus was on the undercover part of the show.
The next show that left quite a good impression is Seversin. It's a light comedy that borders on mockery. I'm not keeping up with the show at the moment but I think I'll get around to watching more.
Senden Daha Güzel - this one I liked the least. I love Cemre and her character is nice but the male character is abhorrent to me and if I have a strong dislike towards one of the leads, there's no point in watching.
There's one more show that premiered at the start of July and that I discovered last week - Duy Beni. A high school teenage drama. I'm a living example that you can never be too old for this type of show. Even in my early 30s I love some good teenage angst 🙈 As things go in this type of shows, the students look way too old to be high schoolers. But I can overlook this cause the male and female leads are pretty and smoking hot together. The show is also giving me major Güneşi Beklerken vibes. The lead character is a slightly nicer version of Kerem Sayer. Kerem was ruthless and Kanat looks like a puppy compared to him. Kanat's family though is so much more messed up. Boy, it's a freak house and he definitely has a few screws loose because of that.
The enemies to lovers trope that was so delicious to watch in GB is present too but things seem to be progressing way faster than in GB (and thank god for that!). The problem of bullying is also a big part of the show so if this is a sensitive topic, it's better to approach the show with caution or steer clear of it all together.
That's pretty much it!
P.S. I'm wondering if Ekim and Kanat from Duy Beni have a ship name yet 🤔 Gonna call them Eknat.
