For the Gemling and Gem Au or even adult Half-Gem! Reader, the hijinks of them trying to figure out how exactly to take care of a human makes me laugh. Gem! Storm trying to make food and catching the stove on fire, Gem! Xavier trying to entertain the toddler by playing space chess, Gem! Logan reading a parenting book while Gem! Sabretooth is trying to get Reader dressed (the outfit is ugly and they REFUSE to wear it). Comedy Gold, I say!

Even better if half Gem! Reader is half-diamond like Steven. Cause they want to be reverent and respectful and maybe a little scared but Reader needed to eat their veggies but would prefer to cupcakes but dessert is supposed to be after dinner and-MY DIAMOND NO!

(I love these Half-Gem Aus and I'm not even a fan of Steven Universe! Your writing is just that good)

Thank you! And honestly, I not even sure which adult would end up with half gem Reader! If they were a Dimaond, I'm thinking they would either be a Red Diamond, Orange Diamond, or Green Diamond!

Reader as a little toddler, happily playing with little dolls, and being watched over by their worried, terrified adult gem guardian. They have little to no clue about how raise a human, let alone one who is part Diamond! Especially if they're THEIR Diamond. They want what's best for them, and care for them, adore them, even, but they're just so... little. Breakable. Squishy. And they need constant care and food and water and cleaning.

The adult gem learns pretty fast what to do (and especially what not to do) when it comes to raising Reader. Their little star likes food, but they have to be forceful when it comes to eating certain ones, such as eating green veggies, fish, and soup, and not having too much sugar or acids. They learn humans bleed easily, and have to be easy with Reader when it comes to discipline or teaching self-defense, otherwise they could use too much force and break them. And bedtimes... Their little star needs sleep, lots at night, and a nap once or twice during the day.

Slowly, over the next few years, they realize Reader is growing up to be bigger, taller, different... And discover that humans live nowhere near as long as gems. This sends them into a panic attack, worried Reader will be gone too fast. Gems live for eons, millenia! Humans maybe live to be hundred! That's nothing to gems! Amd their kid is... they're part human. And if they don't figure out a way to keep them alive, or a way to make it so they can't die, then they could lose Reader to anything...

Reader grows up, loving their parental figure, and unaware of their gem type of much about gem culture, besides a few basic gem types and a bit about the Diamond Authority. It isn't until they're about fourteen or fifteen that they amd their parental figure find out a ship is heading towards Earth, in search of their parent... And their parent is scared, for once, that Reader can openly see...

Their parent can only hope no one hurts their diamond, or finds out this shocking secret...

With the potential resurgence of my Steven Universe hyperfixation I present to you some of my favorite pearl designs and a Nacre I've done, which I headcannon as the ones in charge of Pearl Beds/Production.

I have a whole ass AU where Blue and Yellow Diamond fuse and shatter White and have to make a new way for gems to reproduce which ends up essentially becoming a version of a Gemling and or A/B/O verse that's been rumbling around my neurospicy brain so we'll see if I actually post the uncolored sketches I have or not.

I've been seeing a lot of SU fankids lately. And I love funkids. So I decided "Why not?".

Meet Rainbow Quartz, Rose&Pearl's gemling.

Rainbow was born 20 years before Steven was born, so they are his senior sibling. At the beginning of story, Rainbow lives with Crystal Gems and makes sure that they do not accidentally kill Steven, and also studies with Steven various subjects that other children go through at school, since none of the adults around bothered to do it.

Gemling Krogan (WIP)

Gemlings are a personal species of mine. They are a closed species at the moment. Gemlings are created via a “seed” of magical gemstone being implanted via ingestion or… other means into a person. Depending on the color of the seed, that will determine the color Gemling.

basically everything is the same except that pearl and garnet have a baby during/before the events of the show! haven’t decided on this yet but that would change a lot

either she’s one of steven’s older sister-like relatives along amethyst and gets to have her input on how he grows up with the gems (mind you, she was born on earth and at some point had to partake in human things like eating sleeping etc since a gemling is much weaker than a grown gem and needs sustenance so she can relate in being a gem kid born-not made on earth)

orrr she’s the youngest in the house (until coral) and is pretty much a small kid for most of everything besides the future i guess? then it would be more about how hw gems perceive gemlings and how dangerous it really is for her to exist even on earth once they come into contact with hw gems once again. so now they have two babies to keep alive! yupee

it’s all over the place so if anybody has some ideas or headcannons i’d looovee to hear them out :))

Imagine a Reader being a half human half gem who ends up adopted by either a gem adult. They see Reader when they're about four years old, notice they have a gem, and approach them, hoping to find out why they're so small and squishy... And realize they aren't acting like their gem type at all. They might be a little mean at first, because they don't realize Reader is practically a toddler, up until Reader starts crying, scaring the adult gem and making them try and shush baby Reader. This leads to them having to comfort Reader, and leads then to realize that rven if they are gem, or partially are, they need their help, and so they decide to try and do what they can to keep Reader alive. They live in an abandoned gem temple, while the gem adult fixes their ship ehen they have the time. They miss Homeworld, and the beautiful galaxy of their home, but Reader is so itty bitty and small and helpless... They need them.

It isn't until Reader is a young teen that they realize their old allies have come searching for them, and now the adult gem must decide, do they let them take them back to Homeworld, or do they try and hide Reader in case they're attacked...?
